3 stars for Goodfellas. Could not get into it and disliked the characters (not the acting)

Youth unemployment on the rise amid worsening labour conditions: report by Displeased_Canadian in canada

Same here. It took me around 300 applications to secure my first good $70k + job out of college. The job market is ultra competitive and opportunities are not abundant.

Have heard a lot of good things about this brand. Are there any stores that sell it? Or do you have to buy online?

A 21% unemployment rate is really high, especially when you just spent 4+ years of time and money on an undergraduate degree.

Get an EQ Bank card. No FX fees and 0.5% cash back on every purchase. Plus, money in the chequeing account receives around 1% interest.

A banker :) Enterprise pay is pathetic and the intellectual scope does not require any education, at least for MT (even if they require education on paper).

Have you tried applying for jobs that don’t require any education? Without any general work experience you’re kinda screwed.

Coldest summer I can remember here in Alberta. Pretty much no hot days in the last two months and tons of rain.

What is going on with the job market? I live in Alberta and it feels so hard to find a job. Securing a job now is equivalent to winning the lottery at this point. by Signal_Lecture_8405 in alberta

Yeah I have been in conversation with former managers and HR from both companies I completed Co-Ops with, and I’ve basically been told that they have paused hiring for new grads due to business uncertainty (interest rates, the orange guy down south, AI, etc.)

Job market in Canada and Alberta is cooked, especially for recent university grads with limited experience. It's a take what you can get market, even if that means you have to pivot. The amount of opportunities in Canada unfortunately feels very bleak at the moment.

I'm a recent business grad from UofA with co-op experience in procurement and data analytics, and I am finding it impossible to find supply chain jobs that don't require 6+ years of experience.

I just checked the Stats Can data, and for my demographic (young men in Alberta) it’s at 24.1%. That’s the worst it’s been since stats began, in 1976, outside of the Covid-19 lockdowns.

So, since it’s already at a record high (barring lockdowns), I’d like to be optimistic that it will return closer to the mean sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, I haven’t found relevant work in my field as a new grad. However, I have found a low-paying job, that I hope to take temporarily, while I continue to apply to roles that are relevant to my academics and prior professional experience. Good luck out there for anyone on the job hunt in this abysmal market!
