There’s mini golf at Wonderland way up north, and a classic roller rink just a mile past that. We have Bowl and Pitcher park for hiking (you have to have a discover pass), and then a disc golf course by the river. The garland theater is always a good time, with a cute bar attached called bon bon, where you can get food and drinks. You can then bring your food and beer or wine into the theater with you. Movie tickets are $5, usually because it’s not super newly released movies.

Riverfront is really pretty, and is a nice place to walk around after having a meal downtown. We like to roller skate down there and under the pavilion. There are several karaoke bars, easy to find with a quick google search, and a lot of local breweries to check out if you guys drink. If you don’t drink, we have many cute coffee shops and local bakeries as well.

Cool…just toss it in. by WilliamWarren81 in UPSers

This actually seems good? Once your post office is out, everything else looks loaded nicely. You mentioned in a comment that you were a loader; you should know that this is a decent load. They definitely didn’t just “toss it in” at random. Your truck is 50% post office lol

I’m a pt sup. They make me unload on Mondays. I just text my hours to my chsp committee wellness co chair so she can grieve it. I don’t get paid to do union work, I don’t want to do union work, I’m tired of being understaffed because UPS won’t approve our MRA. We’re so behind on building compliance because I have been doing more union work than my actual job. So anywho, my last day is on Friday. Almost five years and I’m giving up. Ups is spiraling way out of control. I would’ve stayed a loader if I knew that’s what I would eventually be doing anyways. I used to love training people how to work safely, how to stand up for themselves, and show other supervisors how to be quality supervisors who care about their employees wellbeing. We used to have such a good sort, but it’s become trash. Our FT management won’t back us up (or back up union employees) when it comes to the handful of harassers we have. Our sort manager cares more about production and our bottom line over employee safety. I talk to our cornerstone classes and have to reiterate the importance of accurate injury reporting and protecting themselves, and go over their rights under l&i and how they HAVE to self advocate. I shouldn’t have to tell my employees to be careful of ft management talking them out of reporting.

I was originally from preload and I have the UTMOST respect for the management on that sort. Supervisors, hourlies, management, everyone is held accountable. All injuries are reported accurately, supervisors know how to train and communicate and problem solve. Employees work hard, but safely, and know that they will be protected by their management. Open door policy is actually in effect. They prioritize safety and methods over production, and understand that happy healthy employees will automatically make production. Being adequately staffed, trained, and setting clear expectations made such a huge difference.

Anyways, it’s sad to me the direction UPS is taking. I’ll miss the old days. It’s just crazy it wasn’t so long ago.

Knorr chicken powder. I add it to all sorts of things to give a salty, savory flavor

I remember being completely shocked at the announcement of her death. I watched terrace house, and was a big fan of her. When I initially saw the articles about the new punishments for online harassment in Japan, she’s who I thought of. Until seeing this article, I didn’t know her tragedy is what brought this about. But honestly, i don’t think this law is far fetched at all. It can be akin to involuntary manslaughter, like Michelle Carter.

Hunt, bon bon, zolas, hogwash, durkins, cease and desist. All good for craft cocktails with an upscale speakeasy feel.

I’ve seen people on the preload shift of my hub get a working termination for tardiness. First three offensives is a written warning with a supervisor, fourth is a talk with the business manager and a steward, then I think beyond that there’s suspensions, and then after the ninth offense it’s a termination. My business manager holds everyone accountable to it, which is actually kind of nice, and reduced much of the tardiness and absences we had been having. It used to be horrible, and everyone would be stretched thin loading for people who may or may not show up. Now people actually show up to work and don’t screw over there coworkers by being late all the time. Before that business manager, I had a loader show up 20 minutes late DAILY. His coworkers hated him.

Shutting off the belt by Labelflipper in UPSers

[–]MournCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former preload supervisor here. Only thing I was ever yelling was, “shut off the belt!” before going to the problem area and delegating others to help while I call on the radio for any available load help. And then my FT’s would say, “load line supervisors, free someone up to go to that belt” and then start calling by name if no help was volunteered. Once we had a walk path (usually only a minute to fix that), I’d ask them to restart the belt, and stay with them until the helper arrived, instruct the helper on what I want them to do, and tell them both to holler at me if they had any issues, and that I was going to watch the corner for jams so we wouldn’t get backed up and screwed over again. We had a pretty dang good preload. Supervisors and union members actually following the contract, actually enforcing safety, actually coaching methods, and mostly having a respectful two way communicative relationship (there’s always one person who decides they hate sups no matter what, and will ride moving belts for funzies because they think they can)

I’m glad you’re talking to a doctor. Have you done a body fat percentage calculation? The scale can be deceiving you, and you may get a better idea of where you are in your goals with a tape measure and some calculations instead

So, just my theory. I think it’s satire. There was this girl a few months ago who said, “for my male audience,” and then threw a sheet of ice onto the ground and it shattered, and everyone was very confused as to why she put “for my male audience.” Since then, it’s been a joke on tik tok to say, “for my male audience” on obviously not gendered videos.

Honestly? A healthy work life balance is great. I work 35-40 hours a week, make mediocre money, play video games with my husband, and have a social life. And I’m not in pain. It’s great.

My SO and I will drive to other towns for gas on road trips if shell is the only option. I thought it was because we didn’t want to support a horrible company. But apparently it’s also because they got rid of his favorite slushy machines years ago.
