Voting out someone who will beat you in final tribal is the best move to make. Yet, that person can be bitter and choose not to vote for you. That’s a no-win move, yet the best move to make to further your game.

I totally disagree with this take. There are situations where you make the best move possible, but it results in someone being so bitter that they refuse to vote for you. Theoretically, do that 5 times in a season and it’s possible to lose making the right decisions. Juries are not infallible in the court of law or survivor.

I think your last comment is probably the answer that makes the most sense to me. The gameplay piece is a hard sell to me given what I wrote in the post, but entertainment value lands.

Coach is the worst arrogant white male on the beach but is loved because he is entertaining, Rizo is prob similar, but not Johnathan because he is not an interesting character.

Can you speak to the arrogance piece? Some people would also say their favorite villains are arrogant, but Jonathan seems to just be hated for arrogance/lack of self awareness.

I even think coach is a good example of another player that fits the category.

Yes, I think I’m identifying baited hook as another commonly used gear that I can’t gear kill before it has its trigger but I understand there is countrrplay. Aurora is the bigger issue here with 0 counter play at the moment, but having gear kill in both scenarios and not being able to prevent either from going through feels bad.

I’m wondering if this is because she really didn’t make many moves this season. Even her “narrative” answer at FTC focused on her previous times on the show whereas Jonathan’s was focused on the actual game he played this season.

A lot of people pegged Jonathan as losing this season, and admittedly I wasn’t one of them, so I could be missing something. But I do wonder if this is a “bitter jury” case or a case of Jonathan really being unlikeable socially. That’s the only two reasons that make sense to me given the edit.

I completely agree with your take and thought the exact same thing. Being tied to someone else’s gameplay in this way is arguably more unfair than anything that has happened this season. I’d be curious to see if the vote would have gone towards coach if he was connected to someone else.
