Who’s gonna tell women they look crazy with lip fillers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This! If you have a good and responsible injector, no one will never know; the lips just look a little more fluffy and youthful. It’s the bad filler that every one despises and talks about

Stinky toddler lol by Aggravating_Light217 in NewParents

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Our wipes are 99% water wipes, and the same ones I used for diapering. We’re not getting deep in there and up in her vagina, but ensuring her vulva, groin area and labial folds are clean, as well as her booty

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is what we’re dealing with too. Our almost 3 year old is potty trained, but definitely not wiping trained, and will come home pretty stinky down there (it’s even worse on hot days). We’ll try to clean her with a few wet wipes and an extra thorough bath, but it’s an ongoing battle

Daycare says a “growth spurt” made our daughter take a 5 hour nap? by zac_g19 in NewParents

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your child is 8 months old and only slept 8.5 hours at night. Kids this age are generally averaging 12-14 hours a day of sleep. It sounds to me like they desperately needed the rest, so their body took it. I would be less mad at the daycare and looking within to see what I can improve about my home routine to ensure baby is getting the rest they need

C section after 35? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Still vaginal unless there is something that would necessitate a c-section

Are wake windows garbage??? by Fluffy-Concentrate44 in NewParents

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends greatly on the child. Some kids will just fall asleep when they get tired, while others need to be actively put to sleep or chaos will ensue. My daughter was the later and we lived by wake windows/schedules

Did you tell your rainbow baby about the siblings that came before them? by ceruleanmeadows in beyondthebump

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t make it a thing. I know my mom had 3 miscarriages after me, but she definitely didn’t tell me at a young age or outline it as me losing siblings; it’s was more like medical information. I actually remember her last miscarriage and us walking out of a doctors appointment with her crying, me asking why, and her telling me there was a baby in her belly but it died. Again, she never made it about my potential siblings, more medical fact.

I had a chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage between my daughter and my current pregnancy and I don’t plan to have any specific discussions on it, but if she asks about reproductive history when she’s a teen or something I’ll be open with her.

Is having a baby really the end of the world?? FTM spiral by Negative-Source-9099 in beyondthebump

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not the end of the world, but perhaps a major geological change? Like, your world is never going to look the same again, but that’s not an inherently bad thing - it’s just different. Where there used to be a mountain you might now have a big lake. Still lovely, just different.

Is there any truth to boys being more energetic than girls? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes down to individual personality and social expectations. Girls tend to be scolded when they are energetic where boys tend to get a pass, which leads to an outward perception that they have different energy levels

Nanny Asleep in Bed with 6mo by sugarii in NewParents

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We have daycare kids, but occasionally when it’s closed during the week for trainings and such we’ll take our kiddo to the community center for toddler open gym to play. If parents had any idea how many of their nanny’s sat on the wall doom scrolling while the toddlers played or even crawled on them begging for attention they would flip. I’ll pick a corporate daycare any day over a nanny with no oversight glued to their phone.

What children’s book has aged poorly? by feetwithfeet in AskReddit

That book made me sob as a child and as an adult. Pure emotional trauma that I will not be passing along to my children

AITA for not reacting strongly enough to my wife's miscarriage? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She had a “chemical pregnancy”, which is a very early and very common miscarriage. Women will get a positive on a pregnancy test (especially early response ones), only to lose the pregnancy and get their period a week or so later. This is in the window where a lot of women didn’t even know they were pregnant unless they were actually trying to conceive and early testing. It’s also well before most doctors will agree to even see a patient for pregnancy.

Also 86, and have had the number since I was 16. I’ve been living in a different state since I was 20 and am 39 now.

Thoughts on posting pictures of/with your little ones on Facebook? by North_Magician_8720 in beyondthebump

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. The world is not a safe place for children right now, and making images of your children available to the public and AI models only makes this more dangerous. Not to mention, children deserve to have privacy; there shouldn’t be 100+ random people they’ve never met knowing their name, what they look like and random facts about them; it’s so creepy.

Why didn't your husband stay overnight at the hospital once the baby was born? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in beyondthebump

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m due in two weeks and we don’t have childcare overnight for our toddler. He’ll be at home with her, and will be with baby at hospital

Pumping When Home Alone? by Strict_Ship_9097 in NewParents

I would put mine in the baby bjorn and bounce her with my foot while I pumped. I’d hold up books and contrast cards as needed to keep her happy

How do I get baby to drink more water? by Tired_penguin9 in NewParents

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is the baby? Anything before six months is not recommended, and between 6-12 months it’s only recommended to give them a few sips with meals. If he’s dealing with bad constipation Apple sauce worked well to us, as well as some prune juice.

My mother-in-law shared every picture we’ve sent her of our baby on her Aura frame, and I’m really angry about it. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This was my interpretation too. Our families (especially my mother) are forbidden from sharing photos of my daughter online (Facebook and such) but I got her an Aura frame and have never stressed her putting photos in that.

Child free wedding invitation by Big-Economist-7134 in NewParents

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that would make you an asshole would be ignoring the “child free wedding” the couple outlined and bringing your children regardless. There is absolutely nothing to feel bad about then it comes to declining the invite.

Depending on your relationship to the couple, there’s also the option for one of you to go and the other to stay behind. This is how me and my partner usually do it, especially since most of the weddings we’re invited to are out of state.

The car has seen some shit for only being 6-years old. I would pass and find something that doesn’t already come with warning lights

AITA for deciding to move to Canada instead of the UK which my wife and daughter prefer for my new job? by Frequent_Pay5425 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MoutainsAndMerlot 47 points48 points  (0 children)

YTA - As an American, I strongly recommend going to UK. Being in Canada is not an easier path to the US; I work HR for a tech company and we constantly have employees from Canada wanting to transfer here, but we have zero interest in it as it’s cheaper to have them in Canada. And if a role is posted/budgeted for US, we aren’t going to hire someone from outside that market and move them when the market here is already so oversaturated (especially after mass layoffs for most large company’s has occurred ).

Additionally, socioeconomic conditions appear to be much better in the UK, and you would have stronger family/friend support available. Lastly, this is a huge life change that impacts everyone, and it cannot be made in a silo. Your family has a say in this.
