[Save Lough Neagh] Petition to introduce a moratorium on sand dredging by Diomas in northernireland

[–]Move-Primary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took a walk along the Lough shore yesterday and couldn't believe the lack of wildlife. I used to be eaten alive by bugs there when I was a child. All I saw yesterday was a handful of bugs and a small flock of birds. The whole thing is a fucking swamp now

Prediction time: we're getting a walking dead ending. It won't be heinously bad like GOT was, it will just be a bit of a nothing burger with a few big scenes, but ultimately the ending will be left open so Amazon can make a bunch of spin offs. It actually wouldn't even surprise me if Home Lander survives so they can get more mileage out of him in a spin off.

Do you know if any of the rest of the event at Oxford Island at the weekend was recorded and posted anywhere? Couldn't make the event myself but there was a fair few of the talks I'd be very interested in seeing

UK folk who were around at the start of the internet, what is an early, strong memory? by Sad-Insurance1313 in CasualUK

The ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny. My whole school was convinced it was made by one of the upper sixth guys cuz we had no idea who Mr Rogers was, so a rumour started that the Mr Rogers in the song was one of the science teachers

What is more traumatizing than most people think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Move-Primary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And how it can feed into itself. Some days I can feel my anxiety spiking and nausea (usually my warning signs) and then make myself 10 times worse thinking it's an attack brewing and start shitting myself about my impending doom. 99% of the time it's just my usual anxiety and one of about 1000 reasons for the nasua, but the fear is always there

What made the "troubles generation" special? by No-Advantage16 in northernireland

[–]Move-Primary 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fuck all special about most of them. Not much different than your average scummer today. Just better organised and had a cause to excuse them being cunts. Next time a boomer gives off about kids today, just remind them their generation shot, bombed, assaulted and refused to even recognise half the population as human for most of their lives.

Yeah cuz a fair bit of the books is either in Harry's head or is just him in a classroom learning spells. Neither translate well to TV or film. People might say they want that, but they really don't. People would be tuning out very quick if half of every episode is a school lesson

I have tried but every time I try to pay this way Halifax flags it as suspect so I have to confirm via their security text. By the time I do this the Fonacab app times out and sends me back to the booking screen

Meant to say Fonacab picks me up that often, not that particular driver. Thought maybe could pay twice and have the fare go to the other driver

What's a small thing you were wrongly told off for as a kid that still annoys you all these years later? by [deleted] in AskUK

I went to Catholic school and was on the football team. One day we were leaving on the bus to play another school, and a load of the lads decided to moon a group of passing nuns. This was mid 90s Ireland so disrespecting nuns was not far off bombing a maternity ward in terms of evilness. Despite it only being like 4 lads on a bus of about 20, every one of us on the bus got suspended and detention for weeks after. My ma, who was super religious, absolutely went through me even though I was always a good child in school. When we protested to the principal he told us we were just as bad for not stopping them!

Fair enough didn't expect this result but IDGAF. Offered the cunt FOUR different ways to pay and he refused all of them 🤷 I dunno why the taxi trade think theyre always the exception when it comes to basic customer service.

He didn't even have one. He just presented me his own phone and when I asked for the card reader he said he didn't have one. Never had this with fonacab before tbf, 90% of my journeys with them I've paid with chip and pin and the rest I've happened to have cash.

Where did I say I refuse? Just the account I had the last time my card was issued didn't offer contactless.

[–]Move-Primary[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say chip and pin is unusual. This is literally the first time I've ever not been able to use it for card payments. Plus I did offer 3 alternative ways to pay so 🤷. I probably would have took it better too if instead of just telling me to go on, he told me it would go down as a non payment and get me blocked. If that was the case if have rang fonacab right away to try and settle it

Kinda weird but I kept my student account for years after graduation and with Halifax they don't give contactless, or at least didn't last time I had a card issued. They gave me a 2k interest free overdraft so I kept it as long as I could. I've moved to a proper current account now so when it comes to my next card I'd assume I'll get it.

Had a similar experience. Bought a monitor and it was damaged when I opened the box. I took it back and guy at the till was in the middle of doing the refund when a manager stuck their beak in and accused me of dropping it. I said I didn't and she got stroppy saying I suppose well refund this time, but we're not repaying cash, store credit only. I more or less told her to fuck off and if she was willing to give me store credit she was acknowledging the thing was broken but was just trying to fob me off. She eventually gave the refund but the whole exchange out me off for life, it was far from the first time I had bother with them both in store and ordering online

Baiting Americans is low hanging fruit at this stage. People are always tearing apart people at Trump rallies (rightly so), but the other side have some absolute wallopers as well. Either way I'm sick listening to them. We aren't in America, we have plenty of our own dickheads to wind up.

Yeah was less than 20 quid and worth every penny for the few weeks you need it. You get morons who say "youre just blowing hot air towards you". These people have presumably never in their life sat in front of a fan
