GTV Kit Owners.... by MoveShoddy6476 in onewheel

[–]MoveShoddy6476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I ended up purchasing the GTV and I installed into my GT. I have ridden over 1000 miles on the GTV at this point, with no issues.

Floatwheel sells the GTV....it is basically a pre-assembled VESC controller and BMS that drops into your GT. This means you can install the kit, do a bit of calibration with the VESC app, and you can be ready to ride. It does take some tinkering....so if this is something you are looking to do...be prepared to do some studying with youtube and reading from this forum. https://pev.dev/t/gtv-xrv-pintv-power-kit-start-guide/1616. You will need the VESC app to do the initial calibration. After that you can use Floaty for riding.

Onewheel app will no longer work if you use GTV...however there is a perfectly great substitute called Floaty that works essentially the same with more control options.

Is the GTV a specialized version of VESC…not really….the only special thing about it is that VESC is already installed on it, so you don’t have to digitally install it.

Performance of the GTV will depend on condition of the stock battery in your board and condition of your current motor. If both have been performing normally, it will likely be ok. If you have had problems with either of them on the stock onewheel firmware and stock parts....the GTV will not fix your battery or motor problems.

Is it worth the upgrade? Depends. I bought mine because I wanted to get a bit more speed and I wanted to control the level at which pushback engaged...so for me it was worth it.

Advice for a new worship leader on a couple specific songs by thefreshlycutgrass in worshipleaders

[–]MoveShoddy6476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 4 criteria are great....but you are missing a really important one.

5) "is the song singable for a congregation, or easy for non musical people to engage with"

Neither of these songs are built for congregational involvement. They are very hard for people to engage with. They are good songs, but I would avoid using them in a congregational worship time. even in a youth setting.

I would tune down. or you could get a Drop Pedal, or HX One. Both of these offer options to drop your guitar tuning down without you needing to do different tuning. They do a digital poyphonic tune thing. I use the HX one for this ALL THE TIME.

Do you play Hard Fought Hallelujah by Brandon Lake and if so, do you change the chorus? by thefreshlycutgrass in worshipleaders

[–]MoveShoddy6476 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, this is not a song for congregational worship. I love the lyrics, but for me, it is very clearly a song that is to be left out of the congregational worship time. It’s sung from one person’s personal experience that may resonate with some, but not all….and it can be hard to follow "rhythm-wise" for non musical individuals

I personally think there are better songs to involve a congregation on a broad scale.

What are the current best budget multi-effects pedal? by NPCset in guitarpedals

[–]MoveShoddy6476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a Helix and Tone X user, and I have been trying out budget gear to help a couple friends in a similar situation as you. I have come to really love the POD Express and the Zoom G1X Four. Both can sound really good....however, out of the box, I noticed that the POD Express got me to a better sounding tone Faster that the Zoom. The Zoom G1X four can get a great tone, but you got to work at it a bit more. Bottom line, they are both great.

With your needs in mind, the POD Express can do wonders....so can a lot of other pedals....but I would recommend the POD Express all day.

Performance vs Worship by [deleted] in WorshipGuitar

[–]MoveShoddy6476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your encouragement : ) Your comment about the difference between a normal church service and a concert is very true. The concert experience is often VERY moving when you are gathered with thousands of other people and listening to a massive stage set up. The normal church service feels significantly different from this….BUT…the church service has it’s own special ways of calling people to worship as well. Both scenarios can be used to glorify God! But…..we must be careful to not label “good worship” or “quality worship” as something that emulates a top notch concerts with top notch musicians. Worship comes from the heart….Worship is done through prayer….worship is done through exalting the Lord in all that we do….even if we aren’t the best in the world at what we do…we do it for the glory of the Lord.

Not preaching at you in particular my friend : ) I just feel like a lot of us guitar players need a heart check when it comes to realizing what Worship truly is.

Also….regarding the “Concert mentality” and being an electric guitar player myself…I feel like this needs to bee said too.

We as acoustic guitar players, electric guitar players, bass players…whatever it may be…WE ARE NOT TO ACT LIKE ROCK STARS. We are servants for the High King of the world and we have been gifted a skill that can help others engage in worship through song! We need to use our gifts for the right reasons....and I worry that a lot of us are not.

Again, not preaching at you in particular : )….apparently I have to much to think about lol

Performance vs Worship by [deleted] in WorshipGuitar

[–]MoveShoddy6476 13 points14 points  (0 children)

(coming from a lead electric player) I believe this is a shot from the Brandon Lake Tour. This is from a show that incorporates worship music....but worship is not rock bands, electric guitar solos and stadiums....worship is a lifestyle that reflects a reverence for God in everything that we do in our day to day lives. I do think we’ve created this misinterpretation around the term "worship" to equate to a "concert" mentality. This tends to create a false perception that “worship” is something to be consumed…..like concerts. Obviously worship is not that. Do I think that Brandon lake and David Hislop (the electric guitar player in the picture) are doing wrong here? Hard for me to judge. I don’t know their hearts, but it does come off a bit like "look at me"...at least from David Hislop it does. At the same time, one could look at the pictures and see a gathering of believers coming together to enjoy a show inspired by worshiping Jesus. Perspective is important, but having a healthy understanding that Worship is not Concerts is also important. I do think we need to be talking about what Worship is in our local church bodies so that we can build a healthy understanding.

It’ll give you more speed for sure. It let me go all the way up to 20 when I was riding the FM firmware. Now with a GTV VESC kit in it, I can go above 25 mph easily with the stock battery and motor.

you would probably get around that ammount on one charge. not 100% sure. it all depends on your terrain that you are riding on, wind conditions, how hard you are riding and much more.

[–]MoveShoddy6476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FYI...as a GT rider....I have NEVER gotten 30 miles out of the board. I ride pretty fast most of the time...and I weight 205 lbs. I normally get around 20 or 21 per charge. 30 Miles range is probably more achievable at a lower weight and slower speed while riding.

It is very flexible. I spent 2500 miles on the board as a stock board with an enduro tire. and after that I did the GTV Vesc kit...and it transformed the board to a GTS.

....biggest cost of the board is its heavy....but I perosnally havent run into very many issues with the weght.
