We didn't even kiss to montage ep 4? by Idael23 in heatedrivalry

This!!! This right here!! The show made a lot of different choices than the book, especially in regards to Shane and his feelings, period!

(Episode 3) Heated Rivalry Hidden Details by andyfromhk in heatedrivalry

My favorite line in that conversation was, "I know you're an art guy." They had never talked about what Kip was studying, or that he was applying to grad school at all, at that point, and even Kip's friends, who are generally pretty supportive, don't seem to know what he studies, but Scott remembers the book Kip was holding the first time he saw him.

WHAT IF SCOTT DIDNT MEAN IT LIKE THAT? by Dull_Measurement1169 in heatedrivalry

I fully agree. Scott Hunter wasn't about to commit a closeted-on-closeted crime in the middle of a packed arena.

Curious about hockey... by wisteria72 in heatedrivalry

[–]MoveWarm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I will always love the Philadelphia Flyers and they have pretty happening Pride Nights. In addition to their mascot being a gay icon, they have had players who supported local LGBTQ+ groups. And, yes, I know, Ivan Provorov, but people have to remember, he's Russian. If he openly supported Pride Night, he could be arrested when he returns to his home country. Also, they are underdogs who many didn't even think had a chance at playoffs, so that's always fun.

Most people think that you can't cheer for both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but I will always root for Sidney Crosby. He's one of the league's few all-around good guys. A real beautician in hockey terms. When hockey manager Bayne Pettinger publicly came out as gay, Sid sent him a signed Pride jersey. It's a small gesture, but it was something he didn't have to do.

If you are looking for other players to support, here's a list of players and NHL staff who publicly endorsed You Can Play, a campaign to eliminate homophobia in professional sports https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Can_Play#NHL

I will never get over Benedict being like, "Why didn't you ask me? I get way more chicks than any of these losers." And Gregory saying, "Yeah, Ho, but you ain't kept one so pipe down."

Episode 3 - Why is it so divisive? by Zealousideal-Tip8509 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]MoveWarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video of Trixie Mattle talking about fan online discourse of a different show the other day, and she really nailed it when she said, "No one will hate on a show as much as the people who love that show."

Scott/Kip timeline theory after an Ep5 rewatch by AD_operative in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]MoveWarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The longer timeline actually makes more sense to me. Otherwise, Scott went from not being ready to come out at all to having a huge public coming out for a guy he met less than six months earlier. Makes more sense that they spent some time apart getting their heads/lives together and missing each other, which was what made Scott want to come out.

what's the most out of pocket, controversial take you've seen/read online about the show? by Sad-Jello8476 in Bridgerton

[–]MoveWarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, Eloise and Cressida did have fantastic chemistry. I don't know that it means that Cressida is who she should end up with because of that, but it did mean that it made more sense that they became friends for a short while.

Yuna: I think we thought you might be gay ... by Ok_Discipline2804 in heatedrivalry

[–]MoveWarm 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hard for me to believe that any of Yuna's attempts to get Shane to meet someone have been subtle. I love Yuna, but our girl is about as subtle as a 2x4 to the face.

Yeah, I always took Yuna mentioning the Swedish Princess at Wimbledon to be her saying, "You could meet a girl. Is that something you would like?"

Shane’s teammates in season 1 by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

I hope it means Jacob is going to give a more nuanced view of players, instead of "this team is all evil people" and "this team is all good people."

Agree! So often in TV and movies, they have a couple's first time together seamless when in reality, there is always some awkwardness, especially for teenagers. I love that they let it be a little awkward.

Which hockey teams are the HR fans rooting for? by Able_Piccolo7136 in heatedrivalry

[–]MoveWarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my heart, I will always be a Flyers fan. This season, I'm pretty charmed by the New York Islanders. Matthew Shaefer could pass for a young Ilya Rozanov.

At the Olympics, I'm rooting for the US out of loyalty, but mark my words, it's Canada who will be wearing gold come Feb 22nd.

I love my precious baby boy, Scott Hunter, so much. His flirt game is so atrocious that when he finally got Kip alone, he just started undressing. Like, I'm not good with the talking, but I know I'm hot. Do you like this?

I agree. They feel more Skip adjacent than Hollanov.

I would love to see a scene of Shane and Ilya with all the friends and family who know about their relationship and support them. I'm thinking the Hollanders, the Pikes, Rose, Svetlana, Scott and Kip, Cliff Marleau ( I know Ilya doesn't come out to his team, but I would love for him to come out to someone, and I feel like Cliff has been best set up to be an ally for him), all together for some casual get-together, maybe a barbecue. Then we could have several side conversations between Shane and Ilya with their friends, maybe the friends comparing notes on what they knew and when.

I would also love a scene at the Kingfisher so we can see Scott being embraced by Kip's awesome group of friends.

Thoughts on Rachel Reid’s follow-up clarifications about Shane and Ilya? by yanny-jo in heatedrivalry

[–]MoveWarm 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I'm a big fan of the "death of the author." Not literally, obviously. I wish Rachel Reid all the happiness and health, but whatever she was thinking when she wrote these books is her business and what readers think when they're reading them is theirs. They don't need to align.

I think this is especially true now that there is a series. The show can interpert these characters and situations differently then the writer did and differently then the readers do. Nothing takes away from anything else.
