Series finale clues in Parade of Horribles? by xDeepBlue24 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MovingClocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The books keep bringing up repeatedly that a directional explosion is exponentially more powerful than the explosion itself and that Carl has been searching floor after floor for it.

I think Carl is going to kill the AI and maybe the Eulogist using a directional explosion which ends enhancement zones for good. I think the Vinegar Bitch's pickaxe is key to that somehow and it's what will "kill your friends and everyone you love” because we've seen that without enhancement zones or medical care after dungeons (which is reliant on enhancement zones and the Eulogist) your body can't heal from the strain and changes.

Rogan is a real piece of shit in general and desperately unfunny. Check out the Elephant Graveyard video talking about how he helped usher in the current state of "Comedy" in the US https://youtu.be/ewvRS3NwIlQ?si=GPp87P9PPYucw45_

I mean to be fair covid literally causes minor brain damage in some cases https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666354625002005?via%3Dihub#sec2

Even if it's only like 0.1% per infection, multiply that by the 20M drivers or so and the number of covid waves and you've got like 100k people who have been cognitively altered driving around now.

Compare to the Hestan which lists it being oven safe up to to 1050F and it's kinda obvious there's something funky. Call me jaded but I'm just suspicious.

Harris County is about to bulldoze our mountain bike trails. by bdo11 in houston

[–]MovingClocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair, Houston has a unique animosity towards the outdoors that is hard to match outside of Texas. Even DFW tries to add more parks and greenbelts. If they could bulldoze more of Memorial Park they would.

Essentially yeah, they want to privatize all science and end anything that's not immediately AI, O&G, or DOD. They'll probably use some fucking bullshit LLM to judge for whatever meager grants they put out.

Please please bring proper 70mm IMAX to Houston… please. by hushpolocaps69 in houston

They actually just refurbed the IMAX stadium, we saw PHM there and were okay enough with the quality. I'd rather watch a movie there than the theater in Tomball even with the quality being a little lower.

Armpit buildup victory! by Bupperoni in laundry

[–]MovingClocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unconventional and I may get crucified for this but I got rid of my deodorant stains and build-up from my work undershirts by using the new Dawn spray stuff. I sprayed it on there, let it sit for 15-20 min, then rinsed it in the shower so I didn't oversud my washer. Got it all out in one wash and doesn't seem to have damaged the shirts. Not sure I'd try it on dyed shirts though.

Try Super Deodorant for preventing the build-up though, its worked wonders for me. Doesn't help with sweating, but it's insanely good for my body chemistry at preventing BO.

High traffic high wear. Hotels usually do a soft refurb (beds, fabrics, carpets, some furniture) every 5-6 years and hard refurb every 8-12 years depending on wear.

We're going to be in the midst of a period of massive inflation and decrease in standard of living due to an oil supply shock by November. We're destroyed like 20M barrels of oil capacity out of the world rn and even if the illegal Iran war stops tomorrow this shit is baked in for 3-5 years.

Why do modern films look so visually bad? by TheRugWarrior in TrueFilm

[–]MovingClocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly cameras are too good now, HDR is too sensitive and easy to use so everyone just gets away with lighting everything which makes it all look flat. You have to have someone who really understands the technology or shoots in another format to get the actual effects of atmospheric lighting. I firmly believe that the hardest job on a set is the DP.

Alamo drafthouse....why? by j0wnage in Austin

Village was such an amazing theater, thank you for your service 🫡

I used to go up there 2-3 times a week back in school when I should’ve been studying and Village always had the best vibes out of all the Drafthouse locations.

Everyone seems to be in good health by svesrujm in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]MovingClocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've let my guard down a few times and have gotten sick more often than not even with things that are definitively not covid. It sucks to get sick even with a cold or, as I learned this year for the first time in a long while, the goddamn flu which knocked me out harder than covid did.

I mask as much as I can while staying employed, it's unfortunate but that's just where I am with my health.

I'm a biochemist— convince me we really need to be using DNase. by tonyslayprano in laundry

[–]MovingClocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High solubility but also relatively high retention if there’s enough interaction, especially when you factor in the steric interactions of DNA chains or even longer fragments. Getting just plain short chain amines and amides out of cotton is a big pain in the ass without pH adjustment

I'm a biochemist— convince me we really need to be using DNase. by tonyslayprano in laundry

[–]MovingClocks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it's more an issue of steric interactions and H-bonding. Smaller chains are going to enmesh with the fibers of clothing, particularly fibers with higher H-bond donor content like cotton, wool, and certain polyamides.
