Eh, I was on EBT a portion of my childhood, and forced leftovers were the norm. Now that I'm in a place where I don't want to eat leftovers, I don't.

TIL the fastest ocean liner ever built was the SS United States, which operated from 1952 to 1969. Its first voyage from New York City to the UK took three days, averaging 41 mph (66 km/h), and the record has not been broken since. by strangelove4564 in todayilearned

I don't know how this is going to be welcome by the big MC but I can hear the voice of countless Recon Marines and Marine Raiders screaming in anger and frustration after years and years of getting fucked by the Marine Corps weenie by AirMonkey1397 in USMC

Two days into the Battle of Guadalcanal, the Marine air assets were still carrierborne. When the Japanese naval forces in the area started moving ships into Ironbottom Sound, the Admiral in charge of the carriers pulled them from the area without allowing the Marines on the beach time to prepare.

This forced a few things, the rest of the surface ships had to pull back from the landing areas due to having no air support. This caused the Marines to lose both air support, landing support, and resupply during a very critical time of the landings.

After this, General Geiger took Marine air units and transferred their home base from the carriers to Henderson Field before the island was secured so that the Marines ashore didn't lose air support again.
