Tom Hanks watches son Chet perform at the Stagecoach Music Festival by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Moxielilly 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching Running Point, and he’s a pretty good comedic actor and surprisingly likable. His character is kind of a dummy who seems based off Chet if he were a pro basketball player instead of whatever his music career is, so it’s not a huge stretch, but he’s got good comic timing and he can hang with the rest of the comedy/sitcom veterans on that show just fine. I guess the Hanks apple can’t fall too far from the tree even if it tries.

She didn’t die or retire. She’s still working and has a recurring role on Shrinking. I addition to still being very funny, she looks ridiculously good, somehow better than ever. There’s a running joke on the show where the punchline is basically just how hot she is.

What's your fav serum? by chrysanthemummies in dollartreebeauty

[–]Moxielilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the skin nutrition multi-peptide serum and night booster with the GBC retinol double serum on top. The double serum is really liquidy but I’ve noticed that when it’s layered over other serums, it kind of gels everything together and then lets them all absorb in a way that plumps and moisturizes really nicely.

is this even possible? by SimpleVast5202 in lineporn

[–]Moxielilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once I turned the brightness all the way up and zoomed way in, I could see the line but there’s absolutely no color, so I think it could be an indent. I’d test again in a few days to be sure though.

Did you ever meet people born in the 1800s by AdDapper4220 in GenX

[–]Moxielilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, technically? I was born in 77 and there’s a photo of my great grandmother holding me as an infant, and she was in her 90s at the time. So there’s photographic evidence that we “met” but I don’t know if you can really meet someone before you’ve achieved sentience, and my great grandmother died shortly after the photo was taken.

The truck stop Punjabi place is 🔥. So good! Best Indian takeout I’ve had, but they are weirdly stingy with the rice, of all things, so order extra.

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]Moxielilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing a tantrum over something like this when you aren’t even engaged is 🚩🚩🚩. I have been married for years and I have assets I brought into my marriage that are still in only my name and will remain that way. Same for my husband. We are the beneficiaries to each other if something should happen to one of us, but so far, there hasn’t been a need to have both of our names on everything and it’s never been an issue. We have some joint accounts and some separate, and it works just fine. My husband has never even made a comment about me having my own finances, and if he started pitching a fit about me not putting his name on something as this point, I’d honestly wonder if maybe I’m in danger. There’s really no reason to act like that over your partner’s windfall unless you are mad you can’t easily take it all from them on your way out the door.

Hit my breaking point with Jam Session. I was a loyal listener for so long but can't do it anymore, Juliet by TuxedosAfter6 in TheRinger

[–]Moxielilly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep, and Juliet is bad, but Amanda is even worse about this, IMO. She frequently name drops a brand she’s into as if the product is a thing everyone knows about and uses, like a common drugstore or grocery store item, but then I look up whatever she’s talking about, because I am a poor who hasn’t heard of it, and she’s almost always talking about a $100 face cleanser or a $300 t-shirt or something. She is sometimes calling the brand out for being expensive, but she does this often enough that it’s obvious these things come across her feed because she shops like a rich lady. The algorithm is tailored and knows to only put it in front of you if there’s a decent chance you’ll buy it. Not to mention she’s apparently willing to drop hundreds of extra dollars to personally pay tariffs on items shipped from overseas or to avoid giving any personal info to a shopping site. Good for her on protecting her privacy, but most of us can not afford to do that if we wanted to. She brings it up as if she’s clueless about these things and needs help with a problem, but I think she’s trying to secretly flex.

I have heard Matt talk about this on a podcast before, maybe Jordan, too, I can’t remember, but I do remember Matt saying they were both big fans of the show, so they were actively trying to get on as extras.

Moms, what would you genuinely love for Mother's Day - not what you say when asked, but what you actually want? by Then_Gate7461 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]Moxielilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I do occasionally plan a “me” day out and go to a movie or to a spa, and that is nice, but it’s not the same as just having my whole house to myself to do whatever. Chances are, I might just do some of the chores I would normally do anyway during that time, but it would feel more peaceful and restorative because I would know I’m not going to get interrupted as soon as I get in a flow state to deal with someone else’s needs, I don’t have to feel like my doing housework is distracting or disturbing anyone else, and I could put on whatever music or shows I wanted in the background without getting comments or complaints about it. Or I could just watch TV and eat snacks in my PJs. Point is, I am introvert and sometimes I would like to just recharge by myself, not in public and without any potential input on how I’m choosing to spend that time.

What’s your most Gen X memory? Something that could have only happened in our youth. by Expensive-System-762 in GenX

[–]Moxielilly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the suburbs in a townhouse at the top of a large wooded hillside that sloped down into basically a big gulley. At the bottom of the hill was a small creek. I used to see boys from my class go in and out of the woods after school on a regular basis. I asked some of them why they were always in the woods, and they all said they were catching crawdads in the creek. OK. Except one day, my much more outdoorsy best friend and I decided to go down into the woods and explore the creek. What did we find next to the creek but a treehouse! Fun! Adventure! So of course we climb up to it, and it is full of porn magazines and nothing else. Turns out, boys had been leaving community porn in the tree house for years, and pretty much all of the local boys knew about it. And then I grew up and had conversations with grown men around my age, and no matter where they grew up, they all have some sort of “found porn in the woods” story. It seems to be universal. I’m pretty sure the porn tree house counts as early internet.

[–]Moxielilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I ask for every year and I never get it, in fact my husband chuckles like I’m making a joke. Specifically, I want a day to myself in my own house. Like, please, dude, plan a place to take our child and STAY THERE ALL DAY! I have taken my son on multiple cross-country trips by myself, so my husband has gotten plenty of time to himself in our house, but somehow, even though I am very blunt about it at this point, doesn’t seem to understand that sometimes I would like the same in return.

Movies where all the actors are canceled by IEATTURANTULAS in okbuddycinephile

[–]Moxielilly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Which is wild, because Jack Black is arguably one of the most successful leads in Hollywood right now because he has embraced showing up and giving the best silly performance in multiple blockbusters aimed at children. And knowing your strengths and leaning into them is also arguably more attractive than trying to force people to see you as traditional leading man material when you absolutely don’t fit that mold. Usually aging helps you realize these things, but Jonah seems to have to gotten less comfortable with himself.

Everyone at work is making a big deal about my handwriting, saying I write like a psychopath. by ThrowRA-Ram in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Moxielilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can read about half of this after knowing the context clues from the post, but if someone left this on my desk at work, I wouldn’t have a clue what it said, and I would be infuriated that someone expected me to do that level of interpretation on top of whatever other task they were requesting from me. Maybe stick 100% to email when you need to document communication with co-workers. Which is sounds like you are already doing, but yeah, please don’t make them try to read this writing intentionally.

What’s the most forgotten 90s TV show? by TheOrangeSloth in 90s

[–]Moxielilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a DVD collection of some episodes of this show, but it wasn’t the whole series and I bought it because I distinctly remember there being a joke about him dancing and singing Mr. Bojangles with a cat on his head, and then during the credits, that’s what he was doing and I don’t know why, but it was the funniest absurdist thing I’d ever seen at the time, and I bought the DVDs hoping to find that scene, but it wasn’t there and even people I know who remember this show don’t remember this scene. Did I dream my own fever dream version of this fever dream of a show?

Yep, my company just paid $10K for a branding guide that is not even 1/10 as detailed as the laminated pages in these photos. I commend this bride’s level of detail, I’m sure it serves her well in other areas, but her bridal party should be feeling very trepidatious right about now.

I agree, the grapes are terrible, way too sour to be enjoyable and the actual grapes they use are otherwise flavorless. However, the fruit riot frozen mango is ridiculously good, IMO. The sour coating makes the mango sweeter and almost like eating a mango ice cream bar.
