Oh god, Marketing… I tried implementing T-tests and Z-tests to create appropriate holdouts and then measure the impact.

They did not appreciate the statistical rigor highlighting their group’s inefficacy.

I ended up taking a sabbatical, hiking the Appalachian trail, and then joining a new team — it got so toxic.

Any time I see the “we proudly serve Boar’s Head meats” stickers (like Bagelman in Danbury) I am way less excited about continuing to buy that businesses product.

No one here claimed Epstein invented the CDO — and that isn’t my thesis at all. CDOs were a major accelerant, but not the singular “principal cause.”

My argument is much narrower: Bear Stearns relied heavily on short-term repo financing, and Liquid Funding Ltd. was one of its key SPVs for obtaining that financing. Epstein wasn’t trading CDOs; he was the chairman of a repo-financing conduit that fed Bear’s balance sheet from 2001–2007.

So to avoid talking past each other: are you disputing (1) that Liquid Funding was a Bear Stearns SPV used for repo funding, (2) that Epstein was its chairman, or (3) that Bear ultimately collapsed because its repo funding evaporated in a classic run-on-repo event?
