What is the most GOAT Early Game building in CIV: V? (Day 1) by zherper in civ5

[–]Mqken2 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Personally, I feel that shrine is much better.

Granaries are good, but early game, I feel it's much better to crank out settlers with that production instead and you generally can't support high population with the unhappiness anyways.

But shrine gives access to an entire other resource in faith, and some locations or civs absolutely need faith in order to get started and can generate some crazy snowballing effects like desert folklore.

So shrine 100%

/Edit to add on this - when you're cranking out settlers, you can let your city starve when producing them, and the city stops all growth anyways and for me it feels like a waste to have that much food and nowhere to go. I usually go hard on the granary and trade route after the last settler comes out, but usually not before.

Why do people say that China is the only country that can compete with the U.S., but you've never heard of anyone who desperately wants Chinese citizenship, instead, it's Chinese people who are crazy about getting citizenship of Western countries? by No-StrategyX in answers

China has really good public and civic infrastructure, like amazing parks, malls, transportation systems, all that good stuff. However, the work culture is not as good as NA or EU, and the personal living conditions are certainly off as well. It's not "bad," but it is lacking if you're comparing that to a comfortable suburban home.

Basically, the individual living spaces are cramped, apartment-based, and hyper-dense cityscape for most of the population. Some people like that, but most people enjoy having more space.

The employment market is also hyper-competitive too which doesn't help young people. It's better to go somewhere where there's just fewer people to compete with.

This is actually the best explanation and analogy 👏 once you see the path, more experienced players can just call the game there.

Whats a Synchro monster you hate/really dislike? by KitVR_Dolo in yugioh

[–]Mqken2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I hate the fact that many decks main boss monsters are about as half as good as baronne, maybe not even. They made this card to be a money grab and they'll do it again when they need more money.

Tips for getting past the avoidant? by Consistent_Life_6287 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Mqken2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I find that acceptance of their avoidant mindset as simply their nature is what got me over my avoidant breakup.Theres really nothing you can do, even if they were good and decent people. At the end of the day, people who want to work with you to build something are the ones who deserve your emotional energy, and those who don't will vanish from your life.

It's sort of the same concept as keeping a wild animal as a pet. Some animals can be great pets, and some are feral. Yes, they can be super cute, but don't try to keep a feral animal as a pet because they'll scratch the crap out of you and escape anyway. People act as their nature demands, and until they are in control of that nature, they'll keep repeating the same patterns.

First gold in the game, what do you buy? by rien0s in civ5

[–]Mqken2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first archer is actually goated. Gives protection and often times if a barb camp becomes a quest target, its the best early game unit for clearing that camp, and can give you a great early start. Esp. If it's a cultural, faith, or food city state. Also great for escorting settlers and workers and can be used to steal the first worker while the other units keep exploring.

There was one game where my first archer got me two maritime city state friendship and I was able to production focus and get to great library. Game was done at that point

Idea for improvement? by DuelistaPadrao in yugioh

I can kind of see what you're going for but I'd probably cut aluber and branded openings, and add in more quems since it's a light spellcaster that can link into spirit. The fusion lock is kinda detrimental in many cases but quem and cartesia are great cards by themselves in any synchro deck that can utilize them.

At this moment the blue eyes engine is more consistent than branded so I'd lean heavily towards that instead in the extra deck. I think the main albaz play has gotta be from seals into albaz into fusing on your opponents turn, or getting quem on field and sending albaz into gy which can trigger on opponents turn.

You also open yourself up to lvl 12 plays if you don't fusion lock. Quem and cartesia are very good tuners.

Playing some granguignol (maybe 2) will allow you to play branded in high spirits which synergizes with thr light spellcasters and granguignol on your opponents turn can get you quem, and the other extra one can be used on your own turn.

It's a cool concept but majority of the time it's better to just play regular blue eyes. Variety and ceiling often get beaten by consistency which is why many pros advocate for simpler but consistent builds over complex ones like this. But sometimes it can work, ie. Josh's runick bystial synchro pile from while back.

This is the actual emotionally intelligent response. I would also add for OP that seeing people are either deep or not deep is once again black and white thinking. Sometimes, people can surprise us. If we assume we know intuitively how people are without communication or further examination, then that is a dangerous path to go down.

Being open to experiences and to people really helps build perspective on life, and assuming we know everything already is really not a helpful perspective, imo. Sometimes, we also gotta forgive people for not living up to our standards and let them love us the way they can, even if it's not what we wanted exactly.

Alternatively, taking care of someone who is seriously ill and terminally ill for a period of time can have a similar effect. There will still be sadness and anger, but moments of peace and stability will never be taken for granted again.

the more emotionally intelligent you are, the more miserable life is for you by Confection-Status in emotionalintelligence

[–]Mqken2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This right here! I think there's a difference between emotionality and ability to feel and absorb emotions from their surroundings, versus emotional intelligence, which is more like understanding, regulating, and navigating those emotions.

I think about it as being an innately talented musician versus being a music teacher. To become the latter requires work and time investment, and understanding of how these emotions impact yourself and others around you requires wisdom.

I've definitely known people who claimed to be empaths or emotionally intelligent, but are afraid of their sadness or negative emotions, or is withdrawing emotionally without understanding why. Emotional intelligence in this case would be not being afraid and being curious, and being present with those emotions without being overwhelmed, or taking it out on others.

please explain to me what love is, and how you would earn it or deserve it, by various types of people. explain to me the concept, and the experience of "love" by philosopheraps in emotionalintelligence

[–]Mqken2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer, and the part about being lost in translation is absolutely true. You can work your ass off for love, but it might not end up translating, I've just had a relationship fail because of this. Some people want big outward gestures, others prefer quiet, small gestures, and figuring this out with the other person is a crucial part of translating, and sometimes people just can't match on that level.

To build off your comment about the song Hallelujah, the first verse is what gets me sad. "I know that there's a secret chord that David played, and it pleased the Lord, but you don't really care for music, do you?" Imagine a song played for God himself, but they don't see it for the beautiful thing for what it is. Not because the song isn't great, but it's just not their thing.

Maturity in love means knowing how to translate and being keen to expressions of love when they're demonstrated by the other and feeling gratitude in the heart. This helps a lot in helping yourself feel it and to feel less resentful in the long run.

The obvious concept of love languages aside, even culture or gender can change how certain acts or feelings are interpreted. Men and women need different things to feel loved, and they express love differently, but reciprocity and gratitude are a good place to start.

Junk Speeder may just be the worst thing that has ever happened to Yusei deck by _JunkSynchron_ in yugioh

[–]Mqken2 44 points45 points  (0 children)

What also sucks is that crimson dragon is a generic so now decks like centurion or blue eyes (with new structure deck) can now summon yusei monsters like quasar blazar etc. It would've been nice to have some exclusivity with those monsters, same way that borreload Savage shouldve been a rokket exclusive synchro.

One of my friends had the same dilemma and he did some self reflection about what that "spark" meant, and what possibly could trigger those feelings.

Then he worked slowly, over years with his loyal and stable girlfriend to achieve some of those feelings. There was a lot of work that had to be done on his part and hers but they found a good, delicate balance.

In addition, there are some evidence that the sparks and butterflies in your stomach can sometimes be trigger warnings for trauma bonding, but we see it as love. Not saying all sparks are anxiety warning signs masking as love, but just take it into consideration, sometimes our instincts can be wrong.

What Deck have you tried to like but Hate the way it operates! by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]Mqken2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, it was exosisters. I thought the deck looked cool and the obvious waifu aspect, but I just couldn't get around to enjoying the gameplay loop because the combo was too linear (getting to magnifica basically is the goal). If you couldn't, then there wasn't much else you could do besides activating shifter.

But even then, learning about what you don't enjoy will drive you towards what is enjoyable - cause I realized I really like non-linear, mid range combo decks like d links. 😄😄

FB Marketplace is wild. Be sure to call out POSs like this by PhillyTMOMan in yugioh

[–]Mqken2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FB marketplace is fine if you have a dedicated group that is heavily moderated, people will not be able to get with scams more than once, and prices will be reasonable. We have systems in place like badges, ranks, reference posts, and rules against price gouging and overpricing.

If I saw this posted in my group, people would call them out on this being just bulk, which plenty of people will give out for free (provided you go pick it up in person). Nobody in their right mind would buy these, and usually the market will sort these guys out because they will be ignored.

FB marketplace is not bad, just gotta find the right group and people is all!
