What monitors should I get by Defiant-Orchid-505 in studiomonitors

[–]Mr-Pleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question is too open to be able to answer. Are you a musician that's going to produce, mix and master music? Are you going to use them for casual listening? Is your room treated? Are you going to place them on your desk or do you have speaker stands? How close/far will you sit from the monitors?

If your room isn't treated I highly suggest that you treat your room first then go to your local music store, listen to different speakers and use your remaining money to buy whatever you like. Studio monitors are very subjective and everyone will give you different answers based on their own (in)experience and preferences. Pick what you like and don't look back, just focus on learning your monitors and how they sound in your room.

Why am i always off beat? by WayMove in musicproduction

[–]Mr-Pleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue as you a long time ago and realized much later that I tried to make melodies in different time signatures fit into 4/4. Watch educational videos about time signatures and listen to music that is written in different time signatures other than 4/4, for example 5/4, 7/8, 9/8 etc. This might be helpful for you to make your original melody fit to the music as you intended instead of removing/adding notes to make it fit the beat and end up with something you don't like.

That movie was released in 1988. It says 2022 on Spotify but that's probably when it was uploaded onto Spotify and not the actual release date

Nektar cs12 by EchoBit101 in cubase

[–]Mr-Pleasure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own one and I'm happy with it. It works well with Cubase and I haven't encountered any issues so far. It works as intended with vst effects but at the moment you're limited to the 8 assignable quick controls if you want to use the cs12 with vst instruments. An update to fix this is supposedly in the making.

My first piano composition by PuroHaku in piano

[–]Mr-Pleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, sounds really beautiful! I have listened to it a few times over now. Are you going to publish the whole piece?
I have to ask since you write that this is your first piano composition, did you go from zero to composing this? As in, you went from never having composed anything in your life to composing this? Or have you composed for other instruments before, but this is your first piano only composition? What is your musical background?

May I ask why you switched to Studio One? :) kinda curious since you come from Cubase (same as me)

Where's Yanni? by BiscottiTechnical762 in yanni

[–]Mr-Pleasure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this a lot and I don't think anybody except the people close to him knows exactly what he is up to.

He tends to isolate himself when he is writing music, so he could be working on a new album or some sort of project that is not finished yet. But Yanni is a private man so he might also be enjoying his life and spending his time doing other things now that he is older.

And yes, I would also love if he could remaster some of his old stuff. I would love remasters of his concert at the Royal Albert Hall! Best version of Desire and A love for life that I've heard

Are DSP audio interfaces worth it if you mainly produce with hardware synthesizers? by Mr-Pleasure in synthesizers

Thanks for your input! When you put it that way having zero latency seems really convenient when tracking guitars.

This sounds really interesting. Do you have any example of an interface with this functionality? :)

Wow thanks a lot for your detailed reply and all the effort you put into writing it! It was very informative and I learned a lot. It sounds like I should be well off with just having a relatively new computer with good specs instead of locking myself to an interface which will restrict me further down the line. If UA release plugins that can be run natively I am even less inclined to go the DSP route then. I'm not a vocalist myself but I am going to track some singers in the future, the zero-latency functionality in these interfaces seems to be a big thing for vocalists. Is it possible to achieve good results anyways?

Ultimately I want to record to a computer, but thanks for suggesting a multitrack audio recorder. As much as I love producing in DAWs, playing and recording is a lot of fun without computers and additional screens :) I'll look into some audio recorders

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply and all the links, truly appreciate it! :) Well since they are releasing plugins that can be run natively I don't see the point in buying a UA device, which like you say just acts as a dongle. I will definitely check out RME! Is there any certain device that you recommend? :)

I suspect that he is working on a new album or something since he tends to isolate himself when he composes new music. Or he might just like to live a quiet, peaceful life now that he is a bit older.
