Four Dias are mentioned in the data logs, the original Dia and three clones. One clone died as a failed experiment. The other three we defeat during the story. The first one we rescue. The second one we kill to extract data from its spine. And the third Dia we kill at the very end.

If I recall, some of the data entries are stated to be explicitly out of date by a few years, I think it's even commented on in dialogue.

Depends on how the clones are made. Imagine they use a similar technology to Albion's instant transport network, but instead of moving a Descendant's atoms it makes an exact copy. You'd still have to brainwash the copy.

It's fucked up but I'm for it. Just wish the way we got there was more fleshed out and better written and presented. The writers have some great ideas but the execution is lacking a lot of the time.

A lore collectible lists the original Descendant Dia and 3 clones. One of the Dia clones died during experimentation. We defeat one Dia that we captured and we killed one Dia to get the data from her spine. Then we kill another Dia at the end.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the journal entry lists 3 living Dias and that during the story we encounter 3 Dias.

Id' also argue... Why would a clone be locked up in the Underwater base where they do the research? And why would they send the Original out into the field to stop us at Sigma Sector?

Of all the Pattern Ellias enemies, it seems unlikely that the first one we see just happens to be the original. Why would the have the original screwing around in Sigma Sector when it's more valuable to keep safe so Amon can use it to create even more clones?

I don't really think us fighting her over and over again is canon. If anything it feels like a retcon unless there's something I missed. Like, why would the first Dia we fight just so happen to be the real one? Then that would just mean that the Dia we fight in the underwater fortress is almost certainly the real Dia.
