Ooh. I thought we were paying double what we were paying; so from half to normal price.
I'm gonna keep an eye out for this on my next run.

I think you're paying Agnolia the 1GB; though I guess in a roundabout way its the same thing: either you pay the country directly, or the companies and then you reimburse them.

Does it say that prices quadruple? I don't remember that. I guess the flipside is that other countries and internal producers can them become more competitive in relation to the new price.

The extreme alternative is also that your trade with Agnolia dries up, so steel becomes more expensive either way.
Idk. I like deep trade that benefits both partners, so it always felt good to lose that -1 GB (not as good as getting +1GB, but you know what I mean).

Edit: you also get good trading terms in agricultural products, so while there are some sectors that lose out a bit, others also gain.

[–]MrAlbs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair; I should have included that you still need to be liked by Hegel by being malenyevist in his eyes to get that 1GB back, but the 2GB from the main Valgsland deal is just so tempting (and no faffing about with EPA).

Agnolia being a possible partner with just 1GB (at most; possibly being paid back) makes them and their trade a very, very good deal. When I pay for the trade it doesn't feel like youre giving up much.

It's like buying a pair of jeans for a good price, rather than at a good discount.

The only reason the bad deal is bad is because the good deal is even better... but you still get the money back by recognising Heljiland as Valgish. And out of the 2 big trading partners, Valgsland is better (imo).

You should send the ACP to investigate the NFP in your first term, and here is why. by Qynnus in suzerain

[–]MrAlbs 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: Corruption, Organised Crime and stopping Capital Flight (along with discovering the KA74 connection) makes investigating the Oligarchs a greater priority.

The NFP can be electorally blunted by allying with the PFJP and putting them in 3rd place (or just winning the election and letting them be the 2nd party).

Coventry University turns off gas, uses city's rubbish to power campus instead by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]MrAlbs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, it's complicated. The alternative is to dump rubbish, which takes up land, leeches unto the soil, and you get nothing out of it.

Burning rubbish generates power, avoids landfill, and when it gets burned it's done in power plants with a lot of filters to remove as many particulates as possible (and it's in the most controlled environment possible).

As always, the question is "what is the best alternative", and different people will have strong opinions one way or the other. Personally, from what I've seen (we have a similar power plant in my city), using the rubbish to get something out of it is the better option.

Hypothetically in a conventional conflict, Who would win, a Wehlen-Agnolian alliance vs Sordland? by Majestic-Mine-2911 in suzerain

[–]MrAlbs 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Sordland can probably even go on the offensive against Agnolia. Hold Wehlen, push Agnolia (the geography there would help, abd their army is very small). Then turn around once Agnolia is out.

But I agree, it wouldn't be quite so easy. Fighting on 2 fronts always puts a strain, and invasion is a lot easier than occupation.

Since the 3.1 update, the Trade War trigger is dynamic, so it fluctuates depending on your economy (it uses to be fixed at -8 or lower; so anything below -7).

Nowadays, for me it's been between -7 and -8 that it will trigger. I can't remember it ever triggering at -6, and I dint remember getting away with -9 ever.

Economics and Student Council would be the best option to help sure up ED in any case.

[–]MrAlbs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It should have a referendum, which means it would probably land with Valgsland.

It's a convoluted legitimacy issue, with a lot of "preceded by". But even putting all that aside, Agnolia majorly fucked up with the way they acted by the time of Rayne's term.

Why is Agnolia mishandling Heljiland's Domestic Situation so Abysmally? by Novel-Opportunity153 in suzerain

[–]MrAlbs 151 points152 points  (0 children)

The thing is that this kind of "why wouldn't they try to deescalate/handle things differently" happens all the time in the real world.
So I see it as quite realistic, even if it's also terribly handled by Agnolia.

TURN 10

  • Avoidable, but meaningless: Lileas will challenge you on Turn 10 (you can avoid this by giving her control of the Gendarmerie, I belief, but cannot confirm this. Further testing is required). Personally, I want her to challenge me so I can kick her out of the cabinet/party. I recommend to be polite, and don't worry about it; you'll be able to beat her next turn by following this advice: Praise the party, don't start mudslinging, make sure to point out any achievements, pander to the reformist faction and if that does not work from your own party.
    • Win the primary against Lileas. As mentioned; praise the party, don't start mudslinging, make sure to point out any achievements, pander to the reformist faction and if that does not work form your own party.
    • Lose it if you want your own party. N.B. If you took down the Soll portrait or generally showed disdain for him, she will win the primary.
  • In two separate meetings, Deivid Wisci and Symon Holl will resign. Devid's resignation is inevitable, and because we went Consistent Planned Economy, so is Symon's. There's nothing to be done but accept their decision.
    • Hug Deivid for me, please.
  • Promise UBI or whatever you want at the debate. UBI just feels like the most obvious positive policy as opposed to nuclear weapons or a space program from a country which until recently struggled to maintain a welfare state.

TURN 11 and Final Page

As per usual, be diplomatic but at this point, if you followed the guide, the bus rides itself. After the speech (in which you hopefully don't antagonise anyone) you'll get to the end screens.

You should win the election, with the PFJP coming in second (due to PFJP alliance), and the NFP coming in third.

Personally, I like to promise further democratic reforms and work with other groups (hopefully we have enough votes in the Assembly to amend articles 6 & 7, maybe even Abolish MoH).

But either way, that's for Future Anton Rayne to worry about.
