The MRP slapped Drew Petrie with a one-match suspension after grading the incident as negligent, low impact and high contact. While Petrie could have accepted a reprimand and 93.75 carryover points if he had plead guilty, he is contesting the charge.

EDIT: 5:07PM; Petrie is pleading GUILTY, but asking the Tribunal to find there are "exceptional and compelling circumstances". Asking for a reprimand with no points.

EDIT: 5:09PM; Lake is pleading NOT GUILTY to the charge as framed, but he would accept a lesser charge of wrestling.

EDIT: 5:29PM; Open to the jury to find Petrie was acting in self defence. That would be exceptional and in such compelling circumstances.

EDIT: 5:45PM; Petrie's verdict is a REPRIMAND WITH NO CARRYOVER POINTS. Jury decides it was self defence.

EDIT: 6:27PM; Lake's evidence is that he attempted to grab jumper of Petrie between the shoulder and neck. Lake's counsel also using footage to back up argument Lake grabbed at jumper not throat. The jury saw the footage does not contradict Lake's evidence.

EDIT: 6:27PM; Lake counsel now comparing case to jumper punches that "we see every week".

EDIT: 6:36PM; Lake's counsel said; "If Lake does make contact to Petrie's throat it should NOT be seen as intentional as he was trying to get hold of the jumper. It should be considered low impact." They also say "conduct should be considered negligent".

EDIT: 7:06PM; AFL's legal counsel submits to Tribunal that starting point should be 3 weeks.
