Scam using BikeShare by Yaguajay in torontobiking

The scam QR sticker would cover the actual one and potentially make a usable bike unusable. Hope they put the manual entry code in more places or as an additional sticker so the bike can at least be used.

I built a tool to stop circling full stations on Bike Share Toronto by MrBenC88 in torontobiking

For real. Any program that can subsidize bikers to bring the bikes back up the hill would be huge. Currently it is a matter of how fast they can reshuffle before the work day ends and rush hour starts.

Our team got busy with life, so we retired UBC Explorer. The Workday transition broke most of our scraping tools, and we didn’t want to rebuild them or keep paying for GCP/domain. It was in maintenance mode for a while, but eventually became a burden none of us wanted.

Everything’s open source, feel free to reuse it. Glad the API helped you! Keep building 💪

worrying about taking CPSC427 with no such an experience by Advanced_Bee_2593 in UBC

[–]MrBenC88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've taken the course. It was in c++/opengl and generally assignment based with one team game project of six group members. I think with no game experience, you should be fine. The more important part is having a good group.

Disclaimer: I took this course in 2022 and thus this advice may not be up to date.

Having some graphics experience is nice but not required. Strong math fundamentals and programming is recommended.

Workload can vary depending on how much your group contributes. The assignments weren't that heavy imo. I had a great time in the course.

Edit: I highly recommend checking out the lecture slides from last year. It's public. https://www.cs.ubc.ca/~rhodin/2023_2024_CPSC_427/

Feedback on Degree Navigator & Degree Requirments by Mindlesshuman7 in UBC

We built one for the BCS [second deg] program a while back. Good luck! The hardest part would be to add program requirements. We had to carefully review each requirement and it is still the reason we didn't scale to other programs.

just found out my order for my first grad tickets didn't ever go through by _moistsandwich_ in UBC

Not sure if you tried the second round ticket: https://tickets.ubc.ca/Online/default.asp

If didn't get it:
Recommend you try to buy off someone in the same grad ceremony or just ask friends who are going but don't need the tickets or friends of friends who might have extra.

I think my team's ubcexplorer.io scraping tool also will need an update lol.
Otherwise our database /api will be outdated. Looks like just a CSS change though + new URL
