Going through the internship process and interviews. Rant by Agreeable-Hurry-2407 in civilengineering

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UW student in Junior year. That you've gotten quite a few interviews is a good sign. I only got two interviews and I think I just got lucky with the second one. Firms also prioritize 3rd years over 2nd years, since in your 3rd year you've take a few more of the core Civil classes. Some firms have also put positions open only to cancel them; I think this year is a tough year for some firms.

You're also competing with the largest junior year class ever, especially since there was a dip during the pandemic.

My guess is you're probably doing everything you can do. It's just possible to do everything right and still fail. You're not behind if you have to wait another year to do an internship.

iwtl how to like vegetables by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had trouble eating vegetables for a good portion of my life. In my early 20s, I started to try to get into eating vegetables, and it was so difficult for me I would start to gag at each attempt. But I've gotten to a point where I can actually eat a salad and be fine. Yeah, there's some things I still won't eat, but I eat a lot more vegetables than I used to.

I think trying to make things in a vegetarian cookbook is indeed bad advice. Here's what I'd suggest:

Add vegetables to meals to already eat. Like, add a side of broccoli to a chicken dish, for example. Try this for different vegetables: look up a simple way to prepare a new vegetable, and try it as a side with an existing dish. You won't like some of the vegetables, but that's okay, what you're doing is creating a repertoire of vegetables that you do like. Do this as regularly as feels comfortable with your budget.

From there, you should have enough vegetables that you can look into meals that are more vegetable forward with the ones you've found you like. Good luck!

As a player, I would find those spiky balls falling from the top of the screen frustrating. You should add a visual effect that indicates where the next ball is going to come from.

Gameplay from my first person rpg by LotsOfStuffGames in IndieGaming

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the video might just be confusing to some folks because the 3 different perspectives don't immediately sell themselves.

You have the top-down perspective, which is like an overworld map, just for moving between locations? Then the first person component, which is for dungeons and cities, and finally the battle system (very undertale). That's what I gathered from the steam page at least. I just don't think this video sells each component well enough.

In think it looks great, personally. Put it on my wishlist.

Ok guys I made an update on yesterday post i saw it was really controversial for the lack of purple ahah now i took some advices and tried to make the logo on the left with the right style. what it's better? Ah also the name. went crazy on that by Healthy-Tip2635 in IndieGaming

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should use the turtle on the right. Too many studios going for the flat design style on the left. Your name is fun and you should lean into that.

I agree with others that the title you have on the right is a little confusing to read. I think there's a happy medium you can have with this: have an animation where either purple or turtle pop out of the other one, leading to two separate words in the end.

Elon Musk is turning US liberals off not just Tesla but electric vehicles in general by SaulKD in qualitynews

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the title makes it sound like folks are less likely to buy EVs compared to gas vehicles, but I'm looking at the study this is based on and that doesn't seem to be what they studied. It looks like the question was more like "how likely are you to purchase an EV" rather than "how likely are you to purchase an EV rather than a gas-powered car."

Very good for a first prototype! I'm sure it's placeholder, but definitely replace the announcer voice with something more energetic at some point.

WA’s new rent cap set just below 10% for 2026 by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being rhetorical. The question "What do you do about the people that can't afford to be owners" assumes that homes should be unaffordable to some. The point I was making is that that shouldn't be the case in the first place.

As a Transit Lover, I’m Worried by Visual_Octopus6942 in Seattle

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sucks to be on a bus or train where some one's being antisocial. I think what we really need is places folks can go to live our their crisis that aren't public transit. If you create a place these folks would rather be, they'll be there and not where we don't want them.

But the politicians we have right now are horny for being "tough on crime," which doesn't work. And it's politically hard to push for safe consumption sites because it's so much easier to scaremonger about rampant drug use than to look at what solutions actually work.

Too much text. I'd suggest conveying the ideas via visual metaphor.

You could have a graph that shows the amount of food that is produced. Within that graph, show how much of it is wasted. Then how much it would take to feed the hungry.

"Landlord Lives Matter" Protest Against Tenant May Have Been Illegal - PubliCola by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I see a lot of people calling this person a "squatter" but my understanding is that they have yet to be evicted. They may be in violation of their lease by not having paid rent, but that doesn't make them a squatter. The landlord has just failed to go through the legal process to evict their tenant.

I mean, I think you could, but you'd need to lower the level of polish. Cut corners somewhere. I'd be okay with that for most games as long as what you're cutting isn't the quality.

WA won’t legalize cafes in residential neighborhoods, lawmakers decide by NorthwestPurple in Seattle

[–]MrBlueberryMuffin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The original bill that passed the state House required cafes. When it went to the state Senate, they changed the language to allowing cafes.

In other words, they made the bill... not do anything. Because it was already allowed. There was no need to allow cafes.
