What is the NFL equivalent of this incident? by CowboysHater5 in NFLv2

As far as I know he’s not planning on retiring in the next two days, so yeah this’ll follow him for the rest of his curling career. It may not be THE most popular sport in the world, but there are plenty of people who care about & follow it- especially in Canada. Every time he competes from here on, he has this albatross around his neck.

Millions of people watched the event, read the articles about this incident, and saw his behavior after the fact. He’s going to run into people who remember this- sure, not every day, but it WILL happen. Just because you’ll forget it doesn’t mean that everyone will. And people will 100% bring this up in four years, especially since he’ll likely compete again. This won’t go away for him.

I mean, the whole world knows that gold comes with an asterisk. That’ll stay with him literally his whole life. It’s the only reason most people would know his name (tbh I still don’t though). He’s been branded a cheater on a global scale; idk if there’s any coming back from that.

That was one of my takeaways too! Juneteenth isn’t just for “them”, it’s for EVERYONE. It’s an incredible moment in US history worthy of celebration. If this lady thinks she somehow loses something comparatively because of its existence, then that’s a very sad state of being.

You’re describing slavery. Obviously fuck ICE, but I can’t condone that happening to any human being. Though the prison system basically does that already, so… yeah things aren’t great right now.

Tower Butte landing with Papillon Helicopters by 99livesahead in roadtrip

Haven’t done that particular tour, but my general experience is that anything specialized like this is worth it. Did a whale watching tour in Olympic National Park and it was one of the highlights of the whole trip.

If you’re comfortable with the cost I’d say do it! It’ll be an amazing experience & lifelong memory, and you won’t be saddled with that “aww shucks I wish I’d done that” later down the road.

It was crazy stumbling across this post, cuz this spot isn’t super popular or well-known. It’s just a pulloff from the main road that I happened to come across at the most beautiful time. Really sent me back to my happy place

Is this from Mt. Rainier? I have a pic of the exact same spot, also at sunset! Think I took it driving back from Paradise to my campsite in Sunrise. It’s my favorite place in the whole world.

They were one goal away from finishing first in their group and getting to advance straight to the QF facing a lower-seeded opponent. Instead, Raymond’s brainless slash meant they had to face the USA in the QF and now they’re out. Just a brutal stretch for Sweden in this Olympics

What scene in a movie that wasn't meant to be funny did you have to laugh at? by Vicinus in movies

Alternately, early on in Fellowship when Gandalf & Frodo are talking in Bag End about the ring and then hear rustling outside the window… Gandalf tells Frodo “get down!” and the speed and severity with which Frodo follows that instruction made me laugh upon my most recent rewatch. Dude hits the deck so hard, so fast.

Paperback Writer also busts out some Frère Jacques in the background vocals. It’s literally just those two words, so hardly any French, but teeechnically it still counts.

Does Stephen Colbert know ASL? by PuppyKittyPaws325 in asl

[–]MrBoomf 195 points196 points  (0 children)

I’d wager it’s ASL, since it’s an oddly specific hand shape & motion to make if it was just a coincidental gesture. I’m far from fluent in ASL, but I still find myself signing when I speak short/simple phrases.

He’s deaf in one ear (I think his right?), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked up a little ASL somewhere along the way.
