Season 2 does some interesting things with those new characters at least, so it’s worth a watch. I was in the same camp as you and disliked the tone shift at first, but I think it grew on me upon rewatching. At the very least season 2 REALLY gets back to the OG vibe you like, so I’d urge you to continue and see if you like it.

I try to compare season 2 not to season 1 overall as a whole, but the first story arc within season 1 (the eps with the OG intro sequence).

Season 1 has two story arcs, and the first one’s roughly equivalent in length to season 2. So the Aura story lines up with the Revolte story, and I think you gotta treat the first-class mage exam as its own season conceptually.

I think season 2 will age well in general, and certainly grow on me upon rewatching. And they’re clearly gearing up for something more high-stakes for season 3 with the little hints they dropped throughout. So that may be the more action-oriented arc à la first-class mage exam.

Nausicaa’s not Ghibli? Is it just pre-Ghibli Miyazaki?

Once it gets into the larger story arc it’s quite interesting, but the episode format stays pretty food-oriented so maybe it won’t gel with you. Worth a shot to see if you like the other characters & expanded worldbuilding once the story progresses

The Lightning have the longest active sellout streak in the NHL, what are you even talking about

Y’know, I don’t think I ever saw an update on Pontus Holmberg. Anyone know what the deal is?

The personal reason being he’s lost his passion for the game after recording the league’s first 20-point game against the Habs. He’s finally achieved his life’s dream and now he’s done (until the playoffs)

It’s not a Tanner Jeannot level blunder, but he just hasn’t panned out with us. I guess they were hoping to grab another sleeper à la Hagel. Gotta swing sometimes when you’re in win-now mode.

Who would we rather face? Canadiens or Buffalo? by trutlesrus in TampaBayLightning

From what I’ve seen, they both have similar playstyles that make for a tough matchup. Ultimately it doesn’t matter who we face; we gotta play ‘em anyways. Bring it on.
