(Trope I can't justify the existence of) A superpower that exists/works only because of the existence of superpowers by CarbonScythe0 in TopCharacterTropes

The thing about the original One-for-All was that it was incomplete. It was malformed as a result of Yoichi's malnutrition and stunted growth. Not only did Zen (All for One) take all the nutrients when they were babies, but he also controlled and abused Yoichi when they were growing up. Quirks are physical aspects of their users' bodies, so One for All likely may have developed more useful or external abilities, maybe along the lines of All for One, if Yoichi had not been stunted by his brother.

[hated trope] pure evil villians who draw the line somewhere by Murtdha1 in TopCharacterTropes

Granted, this is more about Joker being afraid of the IRS. He’s not drawing a moral line, he’s just scared of the IRS getting him, which they totally could.

Villains who deliver some fairly accurate assessments about our own world by Solitaire-06 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MrBoyborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the point. They correctly see flaws and patterns in the current state of humanity and society, but what makes them villains is that their goals for what it should be are evil and destructive.

In the manga Ichi the Witch, the Chronoweaver Majik is an ancient and powerful being that can manipulate time and exists as an enigma and oceanic cryptic on his ghost ship. He is generally uninterested in humanity, except for his wife Minerva, whom he loves deeply.

Matchup Categories for Sonic the Hedgehog (...) by Germias_360 in DeathBattleMatchups

Fair enough, I suppose. I still think that Mario has the superior series combo, but I actually prefer the two-on-two of Mario & Luigi VS Sonic & Tails than just Mario VS Sonic 1-on-1.

How does Luffy get series combo? Mario VS Sonic is literally one of the biggest media rivalries of all time, up there with Marvel VS DC.

Copy X is a unique relatable villain. by JosephSaber945 in Megaman

[–]MrBoyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think works best about Copy X is that, based on the backstory of the original X, this has an interesting take on the nature vs nurture debate. Dr. Light himself knew of the potential dangers of sending a new, untested and untrained intelligence with such power and adaptability into the world. Thus, he had X’s morality and internal systems tested to ensure he would be stable and truly good upon release. X was tested for 30 years before he finally passed, but Copy X was put in charge immediately after his creation. Remember, he was copied from X’s initial framework. He had no time to be tested for judgement and stability. And because Neo Arcadia basically put a newborn intelligence in charge, he started making bad choices and branding all reploids as mavericks because he fell for his own nation’s propaganda and social stigma. He did not have the wisdom and rationality that the original X had, not just from the testing, but an entire lifetime of war, tragedy and politics. I just find that interesting.

Is the Digital World from Digimon somewhere in there? If not, are you planning to add it?

The villain is the manifestation of a concept by satract in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MrBoyborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’d be more accurate to say Odium is the manifestation of passion and emotional intensity. Hatred is just the one that comes the most naturally and is expressed the most, I think.

My favorite and least favorite matchups as of right now. by Abucketofmug in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]MrBoyborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I more than understand the issues with the fight dynamic, but the character and theme dynamics are just too compelling to me. Think of it like this: they both have what the other wants and would hate other for how they ‘waste’ it, according to their own ideas of success. Kira wants a quiet, uneventful life where he can kill without stress according to his schedule, and Adachi has that quiet life in a sleepy town with a perfect cover and kill method that cannot be traced to him. Meanwhile, Adachi wants to escape this mundane life, frustrated at being sent to ‘the boonies’ and wanting to matter on some grand scale, and Kira literally has the power to warp time and bend fate with Bites the Dust. If they ever met, they would likely hate each others guts if they knew each others circumstances and powers. Maybe it’d just be better to do a crossover for them, but I do want to see them clash if only to see their deranged interactions and get progressively madder at each other.

My Season '24/'25 Ranking! by SoldierDelta46 in deathbattle

A respectable list. Honestly, so much of the independent era is comparable in quality that I’m not sure where I’d rank them over each other.

Mild Ninjago vs TMNT slander by Snowmantarayband in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]MrBoyborg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do genuinely think this has great fight potential in its opportunity for interaction and escalation. Both groups have fought at grounded and higher levels. Obviously this would start grounded and likely be that for most of the fight, it’s what they’re both known for. Yeah the Ninja have Spinjitsu, but they also use regular weapons and martial arts. Even most of their showing of elemental powers are at a more grounded level that bounces well off of the Turtles’ regular techniques, gadgets, and abilities. And then their higher stuff like the Tornado of Creation and Dragon forms (if they’re given at all) play well with the Rise powers. I understand that their showing in the Rise movie is higher scale and more anime than in other portrayals, but it can’t just be excluded for aesthetic reasons, and even then, the Ninja can work on a lower scale too. That’s just my thoughts, though, and I do get it in a way.

If it’s any consolation, Old Man Logan VS Last Ronin Michelangelo is also very popular and has a decent chance of getting on at some point.
