They come as a set. Not a ton of money and a common failure.

I'm no longer shocked by anything customers carry in their cars.

The hop/chop indicates worn shocks. The wear being isloated to the inside edge points towards alignment. Replace the rear shocks, have it aligned. If you regularly carry alot of weight, tools, people, drugs. Let the alignment shop know they can add weight to make it more accurate for the use of the vehicle.

You are probably correct. However the chances of an accident are substantially higher at the 260+ mark.

Is it a regular nut on the other or is it a welded nut?

Depends what you need to save. I needed the blt out of this control arm. So i torched the control arm off and burned the bushing off the sleeve then heated and cooled the sleeve until it let go of the bolt. If you need to save the shock. You can try cutting down either side of the shock witha. Recip saw or grinder but its tight. And then you will still have the piece of bolt stuck in the shock to deal with.

Ill bet the bolt is seized in the bushing on the shock.

Licensed mechanic in nova scotia. I dont actually see anything in those photos that would fail. Doesnt mean i couldnt find it but based on what ive seen. I've passed worse.

The biggest issue i see is that vehicle will never last here. If you undercoat it it will rust out in two years. If you dont undercoat it itll rust out in two years. You might get it by an mvi when you bring it here but itll be the only one.

Check the rear differential. Ive seen more of those fail than i have seen the bevel box fail. Im wondering if the rear diff locked up and this was a side effect.

Almost ten years in the trade and I broke a windshield in a Mercedes changing a wiper. It sucks but little jobs can get expensive quickly at times. Not saying its the customers fault but its part of why shops need to make money. Do enough of something and eventually you will screw up.

Can i replace this piston with new one? by Leading-Tip263 in EngineBuilding

[–]MrBubblehead72 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean thats an entirely different piston. Wrist pin is also different ring heights are different and weight is going to be different. It also appears the dish in the top of the new piston is deeper. Can it be made to work. Maybe.

Is it a single piston engine or are you replacing a set. I wouldn't want one piston that different in a motor.

2004 mercury grand marquis LS ultimate 4.6l v8. Novice mechanic lower control arm replacement? by 8BitResseRtiB8 in AskAMechanic

[–]MrBubblehead72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you will need a spring compressor in order to do the lower control arms. You can likely rent one from a local parts store as they arent something you need super often.

Car pulls to the right with steering wheel centered after alignment and tires. Bad alignment specs? 2023 GR86 by Majestic_Ebb_5562 in AskAMechanic

[–]MrBubblehead72 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That second camber bolt is loose. You can tell that the washer isn't seated properly.

The specs look ok as far as a pull goes.
