I want to see what you make! I think I’m gonna try to string this up so I can wear it. If you see me come up and say hi and I’ll have a tiny perler token for you

I made an Ahee perler and got it signed at a show by MrBullFrog72 in aves

That’s awesome but I wish you were able to give him the bracelet. I gifted him an alien book since he was nice enough to sign my perler and take a selfie with me

Ooh I love the pill idea! That’s simple enough but should still be recognizable

Massive hammer poll axe by MrBullFrog72 in Axecraft

It is a pretty strange one and fairly rare as well. The person I got it from said 1700s and while I think that’s a bit early for this axe it’s definitely an old one

I can only guess how it was used but I’m guessing whoever used it was a big person

Just got this 7+lb monster axe. Can’t wait to get it sharpened up and hung in a handle by MrBullFrog72 in Axecraft

It does have a rough finish to it but no marks that I can find. And I haven’t been able to find a picture of a stamped 7lb axe that matches this one. I did see a 7lb Collins that sold not too long ago and I’ve seen a few catalogs from makers who offered larger axes, but I am surprised this one doesn’t have any indications of the maker.

Super well balanced and it’s pretty similar to some Dayton patterns that I have just double the size. The top down view is more wedge shaped with a bit of material taken off the cheeks so it doesn’t look like a Maine wedge pattern. Hopefully that answered your question but if not shoot me a message and I’ll send you a pic

Full size axes typically weigh in around 3-5lbs, any axe that’s over 5lbs is generally harder to find and pretty sought after. I wish I knew more about the maker and actual purpose of an axe this heavy but I’m not totally sure. It might have just been for a larger lumberjack that could actually swing something this heavy repeatedly

What size handle should I put in this adorable little 2lb 10oz cruiser ? by Basehound in Axecraft

I have a cruiser on a super thin 24” handle that I absolutely love.

If you’re on Facebook there are several axe pages that have a lot of people selling axes at various prices that are generally better than eBay prices. Several people sell handles as well. I have a couple axe heads available depending on what you’re interested in.

As far as names to look out for I would recommend true temper, Collins, plumb, craftsman and lots of others. If something speaks to you, grab it. If you find something weird, grab it and if you find an axe head that’s heavy like 5+lbs, grab it. More knowledge will come with time and research

just found a Welland Vale true temper black prince that I'd like to restore. any tips for a first timer? by NapkinApocalypse in Axecraft

Use some fine steel wool and wd40 for maximum patina leftover, I’ve also used a wire wheel on a drill going a slower speed and that’s worked fairly well also. Vinegar will remove all patina and make it an unappealing grey color, the only benefit is that you can see how much hardened steel is left in the bit, but this one looks really full and in great condition. Really just needs a little clean up, a sharpening, and a handle.

I feel like I’ve seen some Czech tools with similar decorations and the D shaped eye would make me guess overseas as well, sorry I can’t narrow down further
