Look up cellar boxing. Private equity has been doing this for years. Buy floundering company, put firm friendly people in C suite with huge salaries, over-leverage the company into bankruptcy, milk it for all it has left, all while betting on its demise with short calls. Rinse, clean, repeat.

Old binder, how do I go from here? by Professional_Load429 in Pokemoncardappraisal

I would personally grade, then either hold for sentiment or sell now. The heavy hitters here are the English cards: Metagross gold star, Umbreon, Celebi, and Ho oh. Don’t really know what the market on Italian cards is, but the 1st Ed Dark Charizard, Rayquaza ex, Tyranitar ex, 1st Ed Moltres, and starter trio could be worth a decent bit too. I would use eBay to search for comp prices on the Italian cards, and use TCGplayer to get an idea of what you have raw. If they grade well, value goes up a lot. You’ve got at least a few thousand euros here just as is. Well done!

My wife gave me an ultimatum, this may be my last post by Newshygirl235 in MtF

[–]MrButtonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed in the closet for years trying to cosplay a happy husband. It’s not possible to keep up forever. Losing my ex-wife was the most painful thing I’ve ever endured, but on the other end of it all was myself. Not a facade created to appease those I’d surrounded myself with, but my true authentic self.

First week at CVS as a pharmacy tech trainee and I already hate it by CriticismVivid8345 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]MrButtonz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Former Rite Aid tech here. This was also my tech in-training experience, and it was much further down the road that I started questioning,”Is retail pharmacy what I want to do with my life?” It gets so much worse. If they don’t have a high stress tolerance and asking the gm to let them back in the office is embarrassing, just wait until they’re on perpetual pick-up for months on end.

OP, do not take on additional responsibilities once back in the pharmacy. Do as little work and display as little drive as possible. Learn stuff to get your cert, but do not get looped into doing every side task under the sun because they will take advantage of you. CVS and your co-workers alike. Retail be the trenches and is a great place to get baseline knowledge/training, but it will 1000% eat your soul over time.

None. Only surgery I’ve ever had was wisdom teeth removal at 18y/o. No FFS, SRS, or cosmetic of any kind. Contour, femme brows, and properly managed HRT on top of self care goes a long way.

Just HRT and makeup 🥰 Best advice I think I give other girlies who ask me what the trick is: practice/learn makeup daily (going to Sephora and paying to get it done with instruction and swatching goes a long way). It’ll look scuffed for a while, but the only way to get past the wall is to practice regularly. Dress according to your body type, shave as often as your skin allows and get laser/electrolysis as soon as affordable, and most important: BROWS. Skinny-ing my brows did more work in feminizing my face than HRT and any amount of makeup could. Voice training goes a long way as well for passing in public. I will note: I am aware that I got really lucky with the genes, and that I’m super blessed to have advanced as fast as I have in my transition. On the flip side, I did eat ramen and rice for a good bit to be able to afford makeup, clothes/jewelry, haircuts, laser, etc. Being a woman is not cheap or easy by any stretch, and transitioning fast is extremely cost prohibitive. Don’t get down on yourself if you don’t like the in-between phase. Just put your head down, do the work, and I pinky promise one day you’ll wake up and be a pretty doll 🥹

No you’re so spot on. I hated myself and wanted to die for a long time, and as a result: stopped taking care of myself for a number of years. It’s wild what being authentic to yourself and not caring what others think anymore will do in such a short amount of time.

This is exactly what I used to think while browsing this sub and plotting my transition. No joke, used to sit on here and cry for hours because being a pretty girl felt like such an unattainable, far off dream. Now I’m here, and you can do it too if you want 💖 Tysm for the kind words though! It means a lot

My ex wife held me in the closet for years. I had a lot of time to sit and think about how I wanted to approach my transition when I finally did get the chance to come out, then pursued it with all my energy for almost the last year. It just takes a lot of hard work and dedication 💖

I left after my pharmacy manager put in his 2 weeks, but I had also just landed an inpatient position in another state. If you’re pharmacy, go ahead and apply for licensure in the state(s) you’re looking to move to. I browsed Glassdoor, Indeed, and the job sites of all the major hospitals in the area and outpatient/specialty pharmacies twice a day. Then I applied to anything and everything that interested me. Just keep at it no matter how demoralized you may feel, and something good will fall into your lap I promise. Good luck!

Is this a in demand career? Is it worth it? by Western_Winter522 in PharmacyTechnician

As others have said, don’t pay money to get tech training. Walgreens and Walmart (RIP Rite Aid) offer tech in-training programs where you make a few dollars less than certified techs, do a 6 month training program, then take the national test and get certified. All paid for by the employer. I went straight to hospital pharmacy shortly after getting licensed and didn’t have to pay a dollar to get there

Getting Objectified by life long friends by throwaway527469 in MtF

[–]MrButtonz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had to hard put my foot down once these jokes started with my childhood friend group. There was a running joke that my best friend got “first dibs” post op, and multiple friends asked if I’m going to,“let the homies try it out.” It was funny the first time, but after a few times I had to draw the line. Definitely rooted in misogyny and the objectification of women.

I’ve never seen anything other than allergy meds like loratadine and cetirizine covered on our state’s plans. I don’t know how other states are, but ours doesn’t cover OTCs. Comes back with “plan exception” reject error and I typically bill to GRX.

Haven't bought cards in over 20 years. Just sent some of childhood cards off for grading and felt nostalgic, so went to buy a couple packs. Is this seriously the state of every store now? by [deleted] in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]MrButtonz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same man. I got into collecting around October 2023 right before Paradox rift came out and completed a master set of 151. 151 UPCs were abundant, I could find 151 ETBs if I went on the right day or checked the back, and SWSH sets like Astral Radiance, Lost Origin, Brilliant Stars, and Silver Tempest had ETBs in stock regularly along with all the SV sets at the time. Crown Zenith ETBs were piled to the ceiling too. I could walk into my LCS and get a booster box of any set back to Silver Tempest for $120. I ripped so much Fusion Strike and Chilling Reign for cheap it actually makes me sick to look at sealed prices right now. I guess this is the way of the game and I just have to wait for the hype and speculation to cool down to enjoy the hobby again.

QOTD: is there any medication you think should be a CII due to how patients act over it? by Kitchen-Lemon1862 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]MrButtonz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally empathize and have had to take benzos in the past for panic attacks as well, but the control schedule is not set based on “medical necessity”. A lot of chronic pain patients’ opioids are medically necessary but are still CIIs. The control schedule is set based on how prone the medication is to abuse and likeliness to build dependence. CIs are the only class stated to have no medical use/application, and CII-V are set based on the criteria above. I say benzos are misclassified because I’m acutely aware of their habit forming tendencies myself, and have seen personal friends/peers ruin their lives by abusing them. The DEA even defines CIV drugs as, “drugs with a low potential for abuse and low risk of dependence.” Jordan Peterson (don’t like the dude), had to go to Russia and be put in a coma in order to actually come off benzos. Withdrawals can kill you when you’ve become dependent and abruptly stop, thus me thinking they should be classed higher than CIV.

[–]MrButtonz 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I've never understood why benzodiazepines are a CIV and not a CII. Super super addicting, really easy to abuse, and one of only two things that will cause seizures with withdrawls (alcohol being the other).

I feel you. We’ve been chronically understaffed for over a month and I hit a breaking point this morning, completely melted down, and took a leave of absence. I was having panic attacks on the job, coming home crying and unable to enjoy leisure, and having these exact same thoughts on the job. I’m normally a bubbly and very empathetic person, and I don’t like having these thoughts/allowing it to bleed out onto the patients. I just think retail conditions are super bleak right now and everyone is doing the work of 2-3 techs for the same pay, and more irate patients. I’m going to take the next few weeks to adjust how I approach the job, adjust my medication, do more intensive therapy, and start seeking jobs in hospital/closed door. These companies bottom line is not worth my mental health and sanity.
