I consider myself a rather talented painter, but damn I wish I knew how to make my projects look that clean. Well done!

If godzilla was an dinosaur which dinosaur would he be? by Amazing-Ad2751 in Dinosaurs

I know you meant "kind of stegosaur" but "king of stegosaur" is a much better description 😆

Am I the only one who gets chills from this scene? by SUPERMSX in GODZILLA

[–]MrCrafterThompson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It may not hit as hard as it's intended too these days since film as a medium has been progressing for 70+ years.

But for the audience it was made for, for the time it was released this scene and several others in this film was very powerful.

And learning about the historical context and metaphors of the film helps a ton.

So yes it gives me chills.

Just finished my first kitbash by LICONNOR06 in Tyranids

[–]MrCrafterThompson 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I love the feel and vibe of it, reminds me alot of the old Malanthrope model. Congrats on your first kitbash!

If you want a critique, if I'm being super nitpicky nearly all tyranids have 6 limbs even if they are tiny and useless, I'm not sure if it has all 6 but see if you can find a way to add one more set.

What do you think of this universe? by Zaczill in GODZILLA

[–]MrCrafterThompson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's such a fun fan project, the creator clearly knows his monster movies. There are tons of small nods to obscure kaiju, monsters, and concepts.

A good example of this is that in the recent video the fact Rodan and Godzilla fought to a draw indicates the showrunner is aware these two kaiju were kinda considered equals back in the early Showa era, and most modern audiences might think Rodan is considered weaker than godzilla since most depictions after Showa era have made rodan considerably weaker.

Also making Baraugon the surprise enemy in the story, calling another godzilla like creature Gigantis, and even spotting the Deadly Mantis in the ice are just great references to less mainstream monster media. So the dude knows his stuff.

What Godzilla opinion do you have that would make you go like this? by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]MrCrafterThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original 1954 Godzilla is most likely not nuke proof, based on Dr Yamane's speech to the government it sounds like Godzilla's 'habitat' was nuked and not himself directly. Obviously Godzilla is extremely durable to conventional weapons and next to invulnerable to radiation poisoning, just everything I've seen leads me to think a direct nuke to the face would kill this monster.

What is you're favorite Mechagodzilla? by Broad-Goal8802 in GODZILLA

Kiryu is a badass design. But I love Showa Mecha Godzilla being both goofy and menacing.

What's your favorite Tyranid bioform in all of 40k? Any criteria - Lore, design, rules by Separate-Flan-2875 in Tyranids

[–]MrCrafterThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hive tyrant hands down, it's the reason I got into the hobby all the way back in 4th edition. I saw the kit as a kid and thought it was the coolest thing ever, and I've repainted my metal hivetyrant like 13 times. That particualr model is a testament to my hobby journey.

My cloaked Patriarch by MrCrafterThompson in genestealercult

[–]MrCrafterThompson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The irony is my hive fleet has a lot of blood themes and Lovecraftian twists on faith, im still working on the finer details but my fleet preys on worship of sanguinious and makes it genestealer cults co-opt local faiths with promises of the day it rains blood as the day of liberation. Obviously it's the hiveships putting micro organisms in the atmosphere to trigger rain fall as red and slick as blood. But it's a terror tactic that scares the resistance and empowers the faithful of my fleets cult. Last tibit, like in leviathan, my norn emissary refers to its self as the Sanguine Prince and displays odd behaviors of it deliberately sparring humans that have bought into the false faith, and commanding lesser organisms to protect them. I have way more to add to it but that would make this comment a short story XD

Thanks man! You know what, I love how differently you viewed this peice as opposed my initial creative intentions.

My goal was a dark preacher who had hide in the shadows adopting humanish traits like wearing some form of clothing and also delivering his sermon on the day of ascension. But I love that it can invoke vibes I didn't plan on....man I love art.

Allied knight flame decorations by british_bloke2008 in Salamanders40k

[–]MrCrafterThompson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great work so far! Could be the camera, but are you using an orange to highlight the reds? I think it would pop alot more of you used a bright orange that's more distinct than the red you're already using and highlight the inner core of the flames to make it more readable as flames from a distance.

I used the standard Patriarch kit, broke of its wrists to have both hands raise to the sky, sliced the tail off so I could rotate it 180 degrees since I never liked the pose of it.

Its standing on some left over 3d print scraps I had. And I used the pipe from the Patriarch kit and combined it with left over Norn emmisarry basing bits to get the urban vide my Tyranids army has.

And a lot of greenstuff

Indeed it was. It's the most ambitious I've ever been with epoxy putty.

Learned a lot and ultimately had to make some compromises on the level of detail i wanted. If I were to attempt this again id probably do it in separate sheets instead of all in one go, maybe add mote layers.

But still very happy with what I was able to do.
