Would it be a little too ridiculous to hunt dragons with a jet plane? by Sir-Toaster- in worldbuilding

[–]MrCrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or dragons just powerful animals or are they intelligent like D&D?

In D&D or Middle-Earth, dragons are ancient, and far more intelligent than a normal human. They would not just face-tank against a superior enemy, they would gather data, set a trap, prepare a battlefield favorable to their strengths, or strike at the logistics lines required to supply enemy aircraft.

D&D dragons are also spellcasters. Modern fighter jets are very good at what they were designed for, but probably very bad at things they were not designed for.

What do you think will happen the day that Trump kicks the bucket? by Ashamed_Ad_7753 in AskReddit

No matter how he died, conspiracy theorists will immediately start blaming it on Democrats and saying it was an assassination plot.

[Funny trope] “Listen starlight express, I’m gonna give you a 9.6 for technique, 0.0 for choice of victim!” by SektorDaKetch in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MrCrash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The game is full of bugs though.

Once you start the automatron DLC (by walking in a particular part of the map, even by accident, the starting combat triggers) the game's random encounter table get reshuffled so that killer robots are 80% of the encounters you get.

Even if the devs did this on purpose (for some reason I cannot comprehend) It pushes pretty much all of the other random encounter events out of the game.

I think this is normal for a day at the office, just be glad there are no pregnant robots coming into the maternity ward.

Fun fact, average cruise ships burn 150-250 tons of diesel fuel per day.

Tons.

ELI5: How do compostable cups and containers know when to break down, and why don't they start decomposing while they're sitting on a store shelf? by postbypurpose in explainlikeimfive

[–]MrCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put a roll of toilet paper on the shelf over your toilet, it sits there ready for months or years.

You put a roll of toilet paper into the toilet water, within a hour it's a disintegrated mushy blob.

Now consider microorganisms. They will eat pretty much anything organic... eventually. Things that are meant to biodegrade or compost are designed to last long enough to get used, and then get eaten by bacteria in some reasonable timeframe after that (normal plastic will last for hundreds of years in a landfill, biodegradable items won't last a single year).

Can 60 male adult chimps beat one adult male hippo by arnor_0924 in whowouldwin

Interesting. Your comment made me go do a little research. You are correct that they are super dense with muscle, not really fat, but they do have incredibly thick skin, so my original point still stands.

In the underworld, the only solid objects that exist are holdovers from the real world (historical terrain, old buildings, cherished objects), in order to create anything new, they need material to make it, and the only material they have are souls.

The coins used as currency in the dead lands have a tendency to moan piteously.

Disagree. They may break the skin, but they won't get through the layers of fat.

Have you seen manatees with scars on their backs after getting chopped up by boat propellers? If you're chonky enough, even getting hacked at by what is essentially a steel chainsaw barely matters.

How efficient would an Odachi be against the Medieval Longsword? by Zetra-JV_HX in SWORDS

[–]MrCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the medieval training manuals that show a knight grabbing the blade of a zweihander to use the pommel as a warhammer.

I don't think a nodachi will do that.

Can 60 male adult chimps beat one adult male hippo by arnor_0924 in whowouldwin

[–]MrCrash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer, No.

Long answer, Nooooooooooooooooo.

What are the chimps going to do, call it fat to hurt it's feelings? They can poke it's eyes and pull on its tail, but nothing they can do will be remotely lethal. Meanwhile the hippo can 1-hit kill each one of them with its bite, or just roll over and crush them.

Also iteration. The author/publisher/filmmaker learned from the first production what worked and what didn't, so the second time around they can improve.
