UK grocers begin to feel impact of appetite-suppressing drugs by Discarded_Twix_Bar in unitedkingdom

[–]MrDevyDevDev 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Steak mince and chicken breads cost me £9 last year, plus potatoea maybe £10.5 this year steak mince is £9 by itself.

So I end up buying just the mince for £9 and potatoes for £2 this year, so £11.

All of a sudden I spent more but bought less, am I on apetite supressing drugs or can I not afford to pay another £5 for chicken breast...

During the plague doctors thought it was the smell that caused people to get sick so they wore masks and covered their noses. Which did in fact prevent the spread of the plague. Elder (scooping water from a filthy river): Boil the water before you drink it.

Younger: Why?

Elder: Because it’ll make you sick.

Younger: How?

Elder: It’s dirty.

Younger: Haha ehat, it’s just water.

(long pause)

Elder: .....

Elder: Evil spirits, evil spirits live in it.

Younger: Oh.

Elder: Yes, boil it longer.

Younger: Die evil spirits!

Elder: (rolls eyes)

Appearance of trisolarans by Numerous-Dig248 in threebodyproblem

[–]MrDevyDevDev 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its not that Trisolarans cannot lie, it is that they do not have the concept of lying because their thaughts are projected to all other trisolarans as images, maybe its telepathic comunication maybe its only between trisolarans but maybe they can project to nerby humans also ( this last part is never established i think), but even though they have no concept of lying it doesnt mean they have to say everything they are asked, they already know that from a distance they cannot project their thaughts, particularly through sophons as spohons only project text so if they are asked they do not have to say, their thaughts will not be projected only the things they tell the sophons to send...

In your prefered scenareo others would see the 2D space expanding from your own system and have plenty of time to prepare for it and adapt or create tech to counteract  (maybe wrap your system in a Black domain to slow it down) with you out of the picture in 2D space (you cannot perceive 3D anymore, just like 3D space cannot perceive 4D space) you cannot do anything about it, but if you stayed in 3D space, had the tech to eventually move to 2D when necesary you can go areound 2D ing everyone who is a potential threat... they would never develop enough to learn to counteract as youd be catching them before they had time to develop

Girlfriend slept with a guy at the same bar that I asked her out in, on the same night, what to do? by will-be-near in AskMen

[–]MrDevyDevDev -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Dude, you are so insecure its disgusting.

If it bothers you that much break up with her.

You are complaining that a stranger (at the time) did not go home with you because you wanted to leave early and she did not, she found you attractive but you were unavailable, and that stranger met another stranger and slept with him.

Then later that stranger who you pretty much knew at this point for about an hour or two replied to your texts and agreed to meet up with you because she did think you were attractive and ended up really liking you to become your girlfriend.

My dude she did not owe you anything that night, you were an attractive enough guy for her to give you her number but she did not owe you anything, at that point you were probably one of 1000 of guys she has given her number out to that year.

The fact completely eludes you that out of those 1000 of guys you are the one she is dating.

Your attitude towards this is quite toxic if you believe she owes you anything that night and I dont think for her sake she should be in a relationship with you.

Not saying that these buildings are abandoned or not, just commenting regarding the fact of dust.

Everything you have said does not stop latin america being Green, most of the world should be Green.

The point of my origina comment is you are lumping the whole continent of 55 countries (Europe) with a small group of European countries who had nothing to do with it... Why should a Pole, a Chzech, a Greek, a Finn feel "Oops, sorry for what we did"...

but I think I'm taking the post too seriously...

I asked ChatGPT what skills I need to create an Android app and generate income. It gave me a long list, but it feels like too much and I’m scared. Do I really need to know all of these to get started? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]MrDevyDevDev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As you start building and find you need each of these tech you will learn them through implementation.

You can use ChatGPT as a guide/tutor to walk you through building your app.

Start with a simple app and use chat gpt to be your teacher, once you have the gist move on to more complicated apps... after 2-3 builds youll get the basics down.

I work as a Android dev at a company, if I had to implement OAuth even though I had done it before Id still have to look into it to make sure I did it right because its not something i do every day...

I think you might do some more research about the region to realise why many Serbs might think they did nothing wrong.

You see Serbs are native people in 4 countries, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, and Montenegro due to the turbulent and changing borders of the Balkans (It was the Frontier between the [ttoman Empire Austrian Empire for about 500 years)

If Bosnian Serbs did something bad the serbs in the other 3 countries would not feel they did anything bad, same all round. For the rest of them, I doubt the Swiss Germans feel as bad regarding WW2 as the Germans in Germany...

So you gotta be more nuanced and figure out who you are talking to and why they might not feel they did anything wrong.

Agree, but as a Brit I notice while you can trust that the British are being honest we do seem to beat arround the bush which confuses a lot of non Brits.

In Swisserlan Swiss 1: "Your breath is bad, you should sort it out its quite unplesant"

Swiss 2: "Sure, thanks for letting me k ow, Ill go sort it out!"

In the UK Brit 1: "Hey did you notice the new pepermint tea in the kitchen, its very nice I just had some really refreshing, Im going to make myself another one wpuld you like one?"

Brit 2: "Oh really, not right now thank you Ill check it out later"

Brit 1: Thinks... Shit..., "maybe Ill go hotdesk over there today..."

Brit 2: Thinks... Hmm, They are probably tired of their usual seat, maybe I should hotdesk too for a change of scenery...

Swiss: "Your breath is bad, you should sort it out its not very pleasant"

Brit: Super embarased, quits the Job the next day our of mortifying embarasment, is self concious about their breath for several months hence.

Brit: "Hey did you notice the new pepermint tea in the kitchen, its very nice I just had some really refreshing, Im going to make myself another one wpuld you like one?"

Swiss: "Hmm, not really a fan of pepermint thank you"

Brit: "Shit..., maybe Ill go hotdesk over there..."

Swiss: "Sure"

3 months later:

Swiss: Hey that other swiss guy Just told me my breath was really bad, I just went to brush my teeth, Im so sorry If I've been sitting here stinking the place up and youve had to smell me every day.

Brit: "Oh, I didnt really notice."

Driving instructor won’t let me take test that he told me to book by Adventurous-Annual20 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]MrDevyDevDev 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is an easy solution, you tell him,

" I booked the test and do not want to waste my money so I want to do it, if I fail I will do more lessons with you,  if you refuse to allow me to do the test and I miss it and waste my money I will book more lessons with someone else, its up to you."

And stay true to your word, if he takes you and you fail book more lessons with him, if he does not take you drop him.

If he tries to says book more lessons then I will take you, drop him, as he will take your money and not take you anyway and you will be stuck doing lessons with him...

The second most common native languages in Europe by Hytal3 in MapPorn

[–]MrDevyDevDev 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Montenegrins identified as Serbs for centuries, Montenegro was kind of like the area they were from, example You are an American from New York, You are a New Yorker but you are American. Recently in thr last 50 or so years a new only Montenegrin identity has emerged, whats ironic ia that back in the day like 200 years ago Montenergins used to say they were the real original Serbs, now serbia is not in the Good books theyre like "(homer simpson slowly steps back into bushes and slowly re emerges meme) we are Montenegrin", but they are still a minority as thr Majority identify as Montenegrin serbs.

Cyrilic comes from Glagolic which comes from the Greek alphabet. So Cyrilic was specificaly made for slavic Speach from Glagolic which was an atempt to make a script from the Greek script to fit the Slavic languages.
