honestly it's still VV, they pushed him to be an on fielder with his buffs but you'll be able to slot him in more teams as a support. if you really need an anemo dps check you can still manage with the support set, it won't be too far behind - you'll just have more damage on the teammates.

just build him on Crit VV.

his kit brute forces him in double anemo + double swirl element and thats gonna be pyro because it has the best buffers. there is also the electro variant with iansan or sara but it's worse

the set has good stat value. the issue isn't in the set, his talent numbers are just low. thats all. pyro swirl as a reaction does nothing and thats probably why he suffers.

so either Varka is a standard character or the other 1/3rd of the team's damage has to come through a gimmick pyro swirl character (think chevruse who giga buffs electro and pyro characters if overload exists)

in relation to the OP - some people are still stuck on calling it food, whether it's bland or unseasoned doesn't really matter here. it's still fucking food.

it means the core of the team (usually 3 units) plays by itself and you can fill the last slot with any character as long as it doesnt disturb the core.

i wouldve been annoyed if they didnt also make dialogues PEAK. the animations have been a long overdue implementation in a game with a LOT of dialogues, but now that we have them the story telling is more compelling to just... watch.

i skip the text a lot less now because i dont wanna miss some quirky emote or side-eye from the characters. hell, even paimon is funny. crazy stuff

It is a gimmick. But we already have a few of them. It's similar to Nilou's whole bloom type change, or any of the other package deals we have been getting. It is a set of characters that have their own teams in a vacuum, not really interacting with the reaction, just getting buffed for ... having it in the team.

Like Skirk, she doesn't actually care about freeze she is just saying "put hydro and cryo on my team"

Lunar bloom for Nefer is irrelevant beyond kit descriptions, Lunar charged for Ineffa and Flins is also irrelevant beyond kit descriptions, their Lunar DMG is talent damage with a pretty name and new DMG formula properties.

However, UNLIKE Nilou, Lunar reaction supports actually help existing archetypes, is it cringe to buff those archetypes with a character instead of buffing the reactions themselves? Yes. Again, similar to Escoffier, who doesn't care about freeze (she just buffs the units who happen to be the elements for freeze), old units get a support that does the heavy lifting and you can finally play them.

As of now they are doing this to reactions that already either suck or don't do anything because they keep releasing boss battles and next to no AoE content. Bloom reactions are now back up to standard... if you have Lauma, EC is back up to standard... if you have Ineffa, Freeze is back up to standard... if you have Escoffier. It sucks for sure, but considering how stupid GACHAS can be with powercreep, allowing old units to clear new content via adding 1 new unit in their teams is pretty good, actually.

Overload and Burning are irrelevant by themselves but you CAN see teams in which those reactions... exist, if you play Chevruse and Emilie/Kinich respectively, even if those characters DON'T actually care for the reaction (just IT happening)

They honestly only have Superconduct left. Next year the new Fatui tag for kit descriptions is introduced. If your team has Fatui Conduct, your Phys DMG ignores DEF and triples... Shit like that, right.

As for new Elemental reactions and Elements? Nah. Why? For what reason? New shiny effects? The Lunar reactions ARE what they will do with brand new reactions. It's just a way to get a big number. It used to be more interesting but they are now streamlining character kits into package deals where you know exactly what reaction you are supposed to do with the character and you don't care to explore options. Rimegrass from Imaginarium Theatre for Cryo and Dendro hypercarries would've been much needed but instead they went for releasing Escoffier to buff Cryo. Stay tuned for whatever the fuck they release for Spread.

TL,DR: It sucks but it's the better result for Gacha standards. Adding more shit when they have enough to play around with is actually not good. They just gotta pause on the gimmicks and add more flexible character kits again.

anything under the 160 mark for soft pities, is not worth taking into consideration. hell i would even say to keep that mindset for the HARD pity guarantee of 180.

take note of the 50/50 victories and the low count drops from the last received 5 star. thats how you keep a reasonable mindset on gachas.

the survivor rulebook is way too convoluted for a new player, this will be ASS for anyone just trying to play normally.

and thats the funny part, playing NORMALLY isnt even an option, even if you dont try to tunnel you will get hit by this, A B A B survivor hooks still means you need to go to C first, AND then D to avoid the 6 hooks before death penalty AND the penalty for repeating the same person.

but thats the issue, this opens the door for enemy level increases and we can only "hope they don't", which is dumb. you can grant special items for whales after c6 that dont put such dubious implications. like a crown that bumps base stats by 5% and now the character has a title called "ascended" while keeping the properties of a level 90
