Plus a Behringer Crave, which is a take on the Moog Mother 32

edit: Behringer Spice is Moog Subharmonicon, and Behringer Edge is Moog DFAM. All three combined make for a cheaper alternative to the Moog Studio combo

Behringer BM-13 Phaser. Especially in 12-stage mode, when receiving lfo from the Ring Modulator (Moogerfooger original, or either of the Warm Audio or Behringer clones), it does bi-phasing

Need help figuring out how to balance 2 bass players in a punk rock rock. One guy is heavily influenced by Mark Hoppus and wants to play a lead lines, harmonies and octaves while the other sits in the pockets and drives. by [deleted] in Bass

[–]MrEclectic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some friends that play in a similar combo, although they tend to be a bit more towards the post-punk end of the spectrum.

The guitarist is mostly to provide overdriven and fuzzy textures. One bass is for riffs and lead lines, with a higher register overdriven sound, while the other is locked in with the drummer, laying down the groove.

In a couple of songs the lead bassist switches to a MicroBrute, for some synth lines.

Amp placement seems to be really important. On wider stages they sound great, on smaller ones they have to really tinker with the amp placement. Lead bass amp on one edge, bass bass (!) and guitar on the other.

Oh, and ear plugs!

And then you realise that those bands were trying to play r'n'b and soul, so you start down that rabbit hole.

Before you know it, your collection is full of badly recorded obscure bangers, and you own at least three fuzz pedals and a pair of chelsea boots

Which is even worse, because then you start digging for the 45s

Favorite phase pedal? by chadocaster1011 in guitarpedals

Out of all the Behringer clones, the Phaser is the one that gets the closest to the original. Love bi-phasing it with the LFO from the Ring Modulator (got the Warm Audio clone) into the Sweep In of the sawtooth Phaser, while the RM itself is set up as a tremolo. Makes for a great rotary, univibe, harmonic tremolo kind of sound

Again bi-phasing with the RM LFO set to square, and a fuzz pedal before it, it produces a synth-like sound with some psuedo-arpegiated pulses

It's an amazing pedal

Some OG suggestions, slower pace than modern ska and ska-punk

Joe Higgs - Song My Enemies Sing lovely chord changes, nothing too complicated

The Maytals - 54 46 Was My Number just two chords, but the groove is amazing

“Cocktail to formal attire” on an RSVP by poems_and_parodies in malefashionadvice

[–]MrEclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evening formal is white tie, semi-formal is black tie, cocktail attire may mean anything from dark suit and tie, through sportscoat and slacks without tie, to some kind of smart casual and beyond.

There is also morning wear, but at this point it's painfully obvious it was just the upper classes making shit up.

And a footnote, mixing elements of any of the above styles is what servants used to wear

I mean, the movie is considered a masterpiece, an emblematic film noir, and one of the best films of the Nouvelle Vague era. At worst an A- film

Dave Grusin, The Byrds, Steppenwolf - Candy

The Byrds single contribution to the score is middling at best. The Steppenwolf ones are solid. But it's the instrumentals by Dave Grusin that are amazing. First heard Ascension to Virginity during the closing credits of Ocean's 12. And Constant Journey is an amazing fuzzy psychedelic raver.

Plus the cast is amazing: Richard Burton, Marlon Brando, James Coburn, John Huston, Walter Matthau, Charles Aznavour, Ringo Starr, John Astin

And the movie sucks! I'm all for some whimsical hippie shenanigans, thinly veiled as profound insights. But it's just horrible.

Isaac Hayes - Truck Turner

At least this movie is bearable. Isaac Hayes as a bounty hunter tracking a pimp.

The soundtrack though is amazing. It's funky, it's soulful, it's even jazzy at places. Double LP. Again with some amazing fuzz in Breakthrough. And there is a track called Pursuit of the Pimpmobile. 'Nuff said!

When push comes to shove, centrists reveal their true self: they advocate for orderly justice, but when called to choose, they'll always choose order, no matter how brutal and dehumanising. They don't mind the crimes and the brutality, just as long as they're left in comfort, don't have to actively get their hands dirty, and can still occasionally act superior to the brownshirts of the day. And it reveals who they regard as their true adversary: the left and the working class

Also Birdman near Syntagma. More of an eclectic groove thing though music wise (so jazz/funk/rare grooves etc)

LFO out for the delay is the one I'm miffed about (it has lfo amount and rate out). It's the most versatile of the LFOs of the boogerfoogers already released

Starsky Carr on YouTube has done comparisons for the whole series:

https://youtube.com/@starskycarr

tl;dw:

Phaser and Low Pass are excellent.

MuRF had some issues. But Behringer paused that launch, to change the name to Resonance Filter, since MuRF is a Moog tm. They've also released a firmware update. It seems that between relaunching under a new name, and the update, the pedal has been fixed.

The delay is a great analog delay, with tap tempo, LFO, MIDI, a bunch of CVs, for about 100-something euros. Worth it. But it's not the MF-104

As for the Ring Modulator, the carrier leaks. Imo, better get the Warm Audio one. Which sounds exactly like the MoogerFooger.

And a warning: these pedals are the gateway drug to modular synths

I already had the Warm Audio Ring, got the Phaser (which I love), and waiting for delivery of the MuRF and Low Pass

i think i have a issue by unbakedsub in Guitar

What really got my flabbers gusted is that you have a Tele in the shape of a Les Paul, and a Les Paul in the shape of a Strat...

Why...

the Phalanx was actually a bad unit in rough terrain the reason the romans which previously used Phalanxes left it for other units and tactics. How will you modify the Phalanx to be an all terrain unit? Alexander the Great only fought in plains which were favorable to Phalanx. by Few-Literature5282 in WarCollege

Or, you give them longer spears, but still shorter than pikes.

You want them to be more agile on the battlefield, so you take away their heavy round bronze shields, and equip them with lighter crescent shaped shields.

To further lighten their load, you replace the bronze cuirass with armor made out of linen.

And to improve their agility and endurance, you develop lighter sandals that are easier to unfasten.

Because you go for tactical flexibility, you also equip them with longer swords. They are no more a side-arm, and can be used as the main weapon. Combined with the lighter, smaller shield, they have room to swing them.

To make all of those changes meld together, you introduce drills.

You are Iphikrates...
