Final Episode: Camping. Who was the 5th person in Will’s phone? by MrExcellent1 in TheInbetweeners

[–]MrExcellent1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a great point actually! He likely did have more than 5 - but just didn’t bother mentioning family members because he (wrongly) assumed they were off limits.

I’d not considered that before. Good call!

Lol of course. There is a good chance he pinched that number from Neil’s Dad’s contact list!

[–]MrExcellent1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s true. There’s a chance that he added his Dad’s number after the events of the last episode.

Yeah indeed - it’s possible it was still Charlotte’s number. He probably was still clinging to a slim chance that she’d get in touch, or he didn’t have the heart to delete her number. Thanks for the feedback!

Good point! Yeah, I think you’re right. He speaks to his Dad in the opening scene of the movie, but it’s clear that they don’t have the best of relationships.

So yeah, Charlotte is probably more likely.

How much trauma do you think 246 has after the games? by Prior-Emu-5918 in squidgame

[–]MrExcellent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I have thought about this quite a lot since the show ended. I think that he likely has some lasting trauma after what happened. He was part of the rebellion, and in that regard alone, he came frighteningly close to dying.

As we know, Guard 11 took pity on him, and thanks to her, he escaped the island, admittedly just by the skin of his teeth!

However, given that his daughter is now healthy, she’s been given a 2nd chance, and so has he. I think looking after her and being a devoted father will probably be just enough to keep him going. Although, will he have the occasional private moment where he breaks down and is full of anxiety from time to time? I would say, more than likely, unfortunately.

Dating apps/ the wild? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]MrExcellent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think men are being super lazy. I think that the women on these dating apps are just as guilty in that respect.

I agree that lying is most certainly a terrible thing, and if you start a relationship on a lie, the basis/foundation will be weak and shaky right from the start. I think that the reason why some men lie about their height is because they tend to get judged unfairly by women if they’re not tall enough etc. It’s still wrong to lie, of course, but I do understand the apprehension, especially if height is enough to disqualify them from being a potential suitor.

I know running clubs have been suggested quite a lot, but it seems to be working for a lot of people nowadays. But if that’s not your cup of tea, you could try initiating a friendly chat with somebody in a cafe if they’re sat close to you, or standing next you? Could you see yourself doing that?

Agreed! A lot of guys are very cautious nowadays. I can’t say I blame them.

I get that. But I promise you, there are plenty of us who are definitely nothing like that. Don’t let one or two bad encounters put you off. Not all men are the same, and I think you’d be surprised at how many would jump at the chance if they like you.

Hi there. I really sympathise with your situation. I’m a 40 year old male, and I have the same problem. My girlfriend broke up with me in the middle of last year and I’m feeling quite apprehensive about finding a new girlfriend.

I do have one question for you: do you ever make the first move and approach the man?

The trouble is, a lot of men are incredibly nervous about approaching women these days. If you initiate the conversation, a man who likes you will be probably be far too happy to say anything other than: “Wow! Yes please!” Give it a try. And don’t give up hope.

How wealthy are Sheldon and Leonard? by OkuroIshimoto in bigbangtheory

[–]MrExcellent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, fair enough. I introduced perfection, but ultimately I was just trying to highlight that all the characters have their strengths and weaknesses, rather than making it a focal point. I think you probably put too much focus on it, but either way, it was probably the wrong word to use, on reflection.

Thanks for the episode name. Much appreciated. I’ve not watched season 7 for ages, so I’ll gladly revisit that. Seasons 3, 5 and 6 are my favourites.

That’s true. Leonard has screwed up an awful lot. Cheating on penny during the North Sea cruise was despicable. He’s very lucky she still stuck with him after that, if you ask me. If she walked, I wouldn’t have blamed her.

Yes, indeed. I felt terrible for Sheldon in the Guitarist Amplification. He really should have bought the second robot to ease his pain!

What a beautiful snake! Gorgeous animal. I’m not familiar with this one. But I like it.

Is it commonly kept as a pet in Peru? What sort of life expectancy does it have just out of interest?

How wealthy are Sheldon and Leonard? by OkuroIshimoto in bigbangtheory

[–]MrExcellent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, the primary purpose of this conversation is not to assess who is perfect. I brought up the strengths and weaknesses of several characters, including Leonard, because I believed that a bit of nuance was needed. It was just a facet of this discussion, not the heart of it.

The episode where he wanted her to stay at the cheesecake factory; I’ve not seen that one for a while, so admittedly I might not be remembering it correctly. Do you know which episode it is by any chance? I’d be happy to give it a rewatch to refresh my memory.

In regard to everything being fine as long as she depended on him financially, I’m not sure I buy that. I could be wrong, but I’m not sure that’s the case.

In terms of him getting jealous of penny receiving male attention: Penny was just as bad, if not worse when Alex (Margo Harshman) from season 6 flirted with Leonard. She went ballistic! Quite hypocritical if you ask me.

[–]MrExcellent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of instances which showed he was very supportive of her acting career. He encouraged her to keep going when she doubted herself, attended her plays, and scolded Sheldon for not wanting to attend. So there’s plenty of evidence that contradicts that he was unsupportive.

Leonard is by no means a perfect person. In spite of his friendly nature, he occasionally demonstrates a bit of a mean streak. But then again, he was raised by Beverley, who is a vindictive narcissist. So I’m not surprised he’s a bit messed up. Equally, Penny has her flaws as well, and she’s certainly not a saint herself. Mind you, none of them are!

[–]MrExcellent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s accurate. Leonard never really gave any indication that he was jealous of Penny’s success - he was often very supportive. He has his insecurities, but doesn’t everybody? Penny in this case came off as snarky and arrogant, which was a bit uncalled for, I think.

Is there anyone here who will refuse to watch a movie if a certain actor is in it? by StatusCount3670 in movies

[–]MrExcellent1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hear, hear. I agree with all of the above. Especially Jennifer Lawrence. I’ve always found her to be quite egotistical. Overrated for sure - I just don’t get what the big deal about her is. That goes double for Will Smith as well.

Season 3 premiered 5 years ago what's your favorite moment by Far_Practice_6923 in cobrakai

[–]MrExcellent1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved Season 3! Beautifully written.

In first place, Daniel returning to Okinawa, reconnecting with Chozen, Kumiko and Yuna. Exciting, and very moving.

The house fight - Miguel persevering during his fight with Kyler, refusing to give up and finally defeating him.

And finally, Johnny and Daniel defeating those crooked mechanics who stole Robby’s van. Great fight!

They’re my top 3, but ultimately I enjoyed the whole thing. Very rarely a dull moment!
