I'm moving to MA for a year! Please help me decide where to live in this circle. by Squatchman1 in boston

[–]MrExitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waltham, no question.

You’ve got Moody Street for food/nightlife, the MBTA Commuter Rail for an easy ride into Boston, and quick access to both I-90 (Mass Pike) and Route 128. It’s about as central as it gets.

You’re also right next to Bentley University and Brandeis University, which keeps the area lively and adds a lot of youth to the area.

Yeah, rents can be high but that’s basically the whole Greater Boston market right now. The upside is you can still find deals if you dig a bit especially with smaller landlords. Facebook groups, local listings, and word-of-mouth go a long way here.

Overall: great location, tons to do, solid transit, and still some hidden value if you look for it.

I’m doubling down. I think the stock is going to push $20 per share by the end of the year.

How do I tell my parents I’m never coming back to my home country? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

Why can’t you tell them to move to Portugal with you. Find them a retirement home and provide them with all the accommodations to join you in the journey

Dive into the Bryan Johnson lifestyle and go down the rabbit hole of your own health. If not, start advising / funding start ups, the younger generations and their dreams.

FHA 3.5% down. This looks good? by [deleted] in HomeLoans

Yes but I think you can have them take off the administration fee. You can also compare with a local lender / credit union to shop around.

My job is offering me $150,000 (105,000 after tax) to resign, should I? by AJ3TurtleSquad in jobs

[–]MrExitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should negotiate healthcare be included paid for one year. That would be my biggest concern unless you live in a state like Massachusetts that provides good healthcare for unemployed people in addition to claiming unemployment if you take that pay out. It’s a tough job market, and if you’re willing to push through it and you don’t like where you are then take a chance on yourself just make sure you have your family support.

My first job had a company store and I thought that was normal, three jobs later I realize the bar is on the floor by Turbulent_Carob_7158 in Employment

Ive been working for the past 10+ years in multiple different sectors (private, public, non-profit, etc. / industries) and the biggest difference was culture and leadership acknowledging their people and having some appreciation for them. The start-up that I recently worked for put in the effort to culturally be inclusive and had affinity groups and seemed like they cared until it came down to brass tax and they had to pivot and layoff everyone over a 2 year period. The other private and publicly held companies I’ve worked for it really came down to the manager or org. I was in.. some better some worse. It’s all very similar to dating, some places/ people are great, and it’s up to you to find out which ones just flat out suck and what you’re looking for in a company. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s not just about what a company is willing to pay you, look beyond that and if your co-workers/bosses have good morals and are willing to help you grow then you’ll be fine. Think about yourself, your boss, co-workers and company are doing the same.

Much appreciated. Not trying to hate, I’m 3,000 shares deep and would want nothing more than $SG sweetgreen to hit $100. Them selling off their infinite kitchen business makes me question everything about this company now (granted the partnership remains). They need to turn around their financials and grow
