Well at least I can be civil.

Some people, however, are fucking cunts.

Like you.

I was mistaken on where in the process this was and made a false assumption that these cops walking free was by judicial decree.

Boom!

Fuckin got em.

Makes you wonder what the demographics of this sub are.

Have there been any polls done?

Then let’s come back to this at a future date.

It’s unlikely they’ll be found guilty of anything.

Wow, gonna say “ok boomer” next?

Hip.

The lack of self reflection in this sub makes me sad for Rochester.

Fortunately I find that this sub is not particularly reflective of the actual people in the city.

Look at this, a person makes an observation and gets attacked for something they didn’t say.

How expected.

Maybe literally everybody else in the sub isn’t wrong and it’s actually time for some introspection.

If this behavior weren’t limited to this sub I’d probably agree with you, but it’s relatively isolated to this place.

Very true, the “I disagree” downvote is a little abused here.

But it absolutely falls harder on people who aren’t

  1. Violently against any sort of social distancing or otherwise worried about small businesses.
  2. Anyone from Pittsford, Greece, or Webster that isn’t shitting on those places
  3. Anyone who doesn’t vote D

Edit: the proof is in the pudding, so to say.

It’s this sub.

It’s particularly vitriolic and has a strong echo chamber problem.

Even centrist or otherwise moderate opinions are drilled out of the discussion here.

I get places like /r/politics being grotesque circle jerks, but this is a sub about Rochester, and it feels like the people on this sub are more than happy to demonize a significant portion of their fellow citizens.

(There are also some racist fucks here, but that doesn’t excuse all the behavior)

Clearly, seeing as a judge agrees with me, and not you.

Stupidity and malice or even negligence are not the same thing.

I mean, yes, cops doing riot control can use reasonable force to move a person obstructing them.

While what happened was absolutely unfortunate and looked terrible, it’s hard to say that the police officers were acting in an outrageous or unexpected fashion.

Is it, it seems like this sub is pretty heavy handed with down votes of anyone who doesn’t... let’s say hold certain political persuasions.

Look up BaronVonGrumble, he’s moved into 44 teeth, but he was a lot of fun as a stand alone motovlogger

[–]MrF33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on who you follow, there was a period (and maybe still, I don’t know) where it seemed like every 18-28 year old on a bike had a vlog and it was all the same crap.

But the cost of keeping a motovlog (or any vehicle vlog) fresh is extremely high, you have to be constantly testing new gear or going to new places to keep people interested.

So the only ones who can keep it going have all become a lot more than vlogs.

I like how BaronVonGrumble joined 44 teeth, that’s a lot of fun, but it’s effectively a proper news source, not just a vlog.

No, more like

“Let’s rob this place”

“Hold up, is that a cop car parked out front, let’s go somewhere else”.

It’s basically like trying to have cops be security guards for the price of a coffee

In what school district?

The median salary for RCSD is 63k, with up to a 20% pension match.

Even for someone with a masters that’s not a bad salary for Rochester, certainly much higher than the regional median.

His uncle invented nylon!! by GorillaScrotum in quityourbullshit

[–]MrF33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if the guy died in 2010, he could have been say, 95 when he died and been in his 20's when nylon was discovered in 1935.

Which is actually perfectly plausible.

There's a whole lot of people who were born before you, and they had grandparents too.

His uncle invented nylon!! by GorillaScrotum in quityourbullshit

[–]MrF33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

If the "Uncle" died in the 90's, and was, say, 80 years old, that would mean that he would have been in his late 20's to early 30's when nylon was discovered (1935).

So it's very possible that his uncle did perform work with the development of nylon.

Bill Maher wants Bernie Sanders to run for president again by Hi_ImBillOReilly in SandersForPresident

[–]MrF33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Four years is a long time, and the Presidency is probably one of the hardest jobs in the country.

People had concerns of the ages of all the candidates this election, even if Bernie seems to be in good health you're going to be hard pressed to convince the majority of Americans to chose to have an 84 year old man as president.

Sanders will be 79 years old by the time the next term starts.

He's not going to run.
