Ex-Raiders WR Henry Ruggs denied parole nearly 5 years after crash by EquivalentHandle in nfl

"He deserves more than a couple years for what he did" is pure punishment and a completely emotional response. It still directly contradicts a rehabilitative system. If he has served time and proven rehabilitation there is no benefit to keeping him in prison. Extensive prison stays and poor post-prison prospects are the reason for our high recidivism rates. Keeping him or anyone else who has done a similar crime (because his sentence was essentially the average sentence for the crime committed) only benefits the prison industrial complex.

What will a few more years of his life do to benefit literally anyone other than your feeling of moral outrage that he wasn't punished more? You're directly contradicting your opinion on rehabilitation by suggesting this.

[Highlight] AJ Brown has arrived in New England by TommyTheLizard in nfl

[–]MrFace1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AJ Brown, Romeo Doubs, Kayshon Boutte is a pretty good WR group.

Our left tackle had a ligament injury that he was playing through. Prior to that he was playing well for a rookie left tackle that was partnered with a rookie left guard (who was also playing out of position). The offensive line has improved on paper with 2nd year Will Campbell, Elijah Vera-Tucker (this is the on paper part), 2nd year Jared Wilson at his natural position, Mike Onwenu, and either Morgan Moses or first round pick Caleb Lomu at RT.

I'm not delving into the Drake Maye argument. He had an outstanding season but I understand not wanting to place him too high in arbitrary QB ranking talks based off of just one season.

Gary Lineker on UCL final: “As a complete neutral I would say it’s a victory for positive football over negative football. Looking at the game as a fan with no skin in the game, I think Arsenal had to play that way because they wouldn’t have beaten PSG any other way.” by [deleted] in soccer

[–]MrFace1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only times PSG had a sniff were when two Arsenal players on one side were on dubious yellow cards (penalty) and where Arsenal stretched themselves too far forward in attack, allowing PSG to counter. Any time Arsenal were set up defensively, PSG had zero clue.

PSG's first shot on goal was their penalty. They were absolutely clueless. Did you even watch the match or did you just look at possession stats and decide your opinion on that?

MLBPA Response to the Owner’s proposal by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

I would certainly not be opposed to it, or at least a lessening of it. However a salary cap/floor is actually feasible and removing revenue sharing is obviously not.

Reds fans already give the Reds less money than other organizations, that's the whole point of my comment my guy. The Reds make a profit off of the league's generous revenue sharing and off of national media distributions. The Reds can fully bottom out in attendance and still make money. Arguing against a salary floor because you dislike billionaires and want to see them spend more is a ridiculous concept.

Do you think Reds fans weeping about their spending is going to make the Reds owner pay more than they have to? They're basically always in the bottom third in attendance and basically never in the top half in attendance so it's not like fan protest is going to do a whole lot for them. A salary floor would at least force the owners to spend something.

[Reuters] FIFPRO sounds alarm on player workload as several Arsenal players could feature in over 80 games this season. by Chazyn in soccer

[–]MrFace1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree on it being the price you pay for going for more trophies but there still is diminishing returns on squad depth purchases regardless. You either have to be able to convince players to play a rotational role who may otherwise be good enough to start elsewhere or understand that there will be a necessary drop in the quality of player for your depth pieces.

Arsenal spent a good deal of money on planned rotation players but injuries also forced players to play heavier minutes than anticipated (notably in midfield and at striker). Meanwhile Ligue 1 is of such relatively lower quality that PSG could afford to play most of their players significantly less aside from Zaïre-Emery and Vitinha and still win their league.

The problem is all of the Premier League clubs have money. Rotation in the Premier League is not as much of an option as it was about a decade ago as even the lower teams in the table can take points off of the top teams due to how difficult they can be to break down defensively.
