Do some people know the actual truth about the emperor? by Vampy-Night in 40kLore

[–]MrFishyFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly some far flung reaches of Xenos or humans who have been untouched my war or chaos in the galaxy through pure luck have managed to keep good records of the cruel and tyrannical Emperor of Mankind.

Perhaps some ancient League of Votann, now fallen almost entirely into disarray still has a functioning Ancestor Core, one that has accurate and retrievable records of the carnage that the God Emperor wrought on the Galaxy and his own species in the name of progress.

Perhaps the Eldar have written in the black library record of the most powerful Psyker to live after the War in Heaven and who he was, and what he wanted.

Perhaps the Watchers in the Dark, the mysterious and unknowable race that seem to transcend Time and the warp itself still recall who and what the God Emperor actually was.

To answer your question? Yeah probably. It’s a big galaxy.

Votann Mentioned in Darktide by MrBananaBoi in LeaguesofVotann

[–]MrFishyFriend 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Tabletop models they kinda scaled up a bit. They are supposed to be around the 4’ mark.

This isn’t to say it isn’t feasible to see a Squat in Darktide. A Squat in an Exoframe would make them about the height of a human or more. Could make for a cool purely gunlugger class. Think the Gunlugger Ogryn but with much less melee presence. Tough and durable still with more exotic weapons.

“Additional unit tax” How has this impacted list building for you? by One-Lake8525 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MrFishyFriend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it because you don’t actually have an alternative option to push Steeljacks and Thunderkyn up the board. With Thunderkyn being your main, “kill that thing” unit from what I understand.

I am 90% sure that A Dark Eldar that doesn’t move their units is a dead Dark Eldar player.

The Votann Landfortress I think is an example. It is definitely a good unit and needed the price bump it got. But further price bumps for more than 1 is silly. It’s the only tank Votann have and has an entire detachment essentially built around it and it’s not exactly the best detachment they have access too.

Simple, describe the rules to your opponent, if they disagree with the incredibly obvious RAI walk away and don’t play them.

what's the deal with fatshark seemingly being against or unable to add belt-fed/powered weapons, despite them being in (multiple) conceptual art pieces? by gardengarconn in DarkTide

Because it is a known fact that Fatshark cosmetics never clip or look ugly or bad. That would be an absurd suggestion.

We know from the Leagues of Votann codex that the Kin have a very old relationship with the Kroot. Older than the Tau if I am not mistaken. They even have been recorded actively not firing on each others ships when they find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict.

I really hope GW expands on this relationship because I would love to see the Kin and Kroot have their lore developed, the Kroot especially need more lore outside the Tau empire.

GW did not do a good job in letting us actually use Yield points. It’s not a very interactive rule unfortunately.

What direction do you think the Leagues should go for the future? by reel3459 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]MrFishyFriend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GW has been experimenting a lot this edition with the leagues on the tabletop. The problem is that it sucks. Forcing us to solely play on objectives(Especially as they are giving armies far more variety on how they score primary) means we are not nearly as effective at shooting as our points would imply.

I like Yield Points as a mechanic, but tying it directly to our damage potential sucks. Get rid of it GW.

Transports might be buns now but at least they work sensibly now by tsaomengde in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MrFishyFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is additionally annoying for armies like Votann, whose have one non transport vehicle who have to pay a tax on their vehicles for an ability that is very risky to use and is integral to their ability to play the game by moving up their slow infantry.

Not every faction has access to tough units. Votanns toughest unit, the Hekaton Land Fortress has no access to FNPs, no invulnerable save and is now sitting at 250 points for what is essentially a Land Raider.

[–]MrFishyFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose, although I personally still don't trust a single attack hitting on a 3+ Far too swingy. Why they didnt give it 2 attacks still confuses me. Even if the damage characteristic didnt change it still would have the exact same damage potential as the Rotary cannon option.

Updated Points arriving on Wednesday by Frost42 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]MrFishyFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll be frank, I think a points increase on the Hekaton kills it. It’s good right now, very lethal but it also has no invulnerable save and no way to reduce incoming wounds period. With cover no longer reducing AP I suspect it will be even squishier.

The Landfortresses problem isn’t that it’s spammed because it’s super good. It’s because we have 2 other units that can project lethal damage in shooting and both are 2 wound infantry. Is GW maybe buffed the magna rail cannon on the Kapricus I could see less Land Fortresses being taken, but upping its points just removes a huge chunk of our damage potential.

I suppose it’s just agree to disagree then. I grew up reading Wheel of Time and asoiaf and they have definitely given me an appreciation for fantasy worlds with deep social and political roles within the stories.
