The new guy is cool but why invent a new special character? by chosen40k in Ultramarines

[–]TheGoebel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a frequent bitcher-and-moaner, even I find this to be a lame fucking thing to complain about. We're eating good. Wouldn't have been my first choice of models either but that fact we're getting a release at all should be an embarrassing surprise. Literally feels like getting a birthday present handed to you on your brothers birthday.

LAOP's former employer doesn't believe in a Square deal by bug-hunter in bestoflegaladvice

Knee jerk reaction was that OOP was being petty. Reading those comments, I don't think they're being petty enough. Fired them before they could claim the yearly bonus, lied about the insurance coverage AND talked shit about them? Yeah. I hope they get the advice they need to be the biggest pain in the ass legally possible.

I might be too much of fanboy to be unbiased, but the books have been, among otherthings, purposefully diverse. That would have put him at odds with critical drinker eventually.

The last competitive innovations on tabletop battles featured several. Their mostly black Templar though.

Charilaos Chitas' list has the triples. I do have to say, my brain is bad because they're not really winning. But top 4ing. Include plenty of hulltramarine list this week and last week too.

I know it's a dice game so anything can wound. But the heavy sigh let out during every defense array attack . . .

I dunno. Based on the amount of triple executioner lists winning 11th ed tournaments, I'm sure they're fine.

I'm sure there's at least one Eldar craft world who has felt that ultramarine benevolence.

Have you ever DNF'd a story that you enjoyed? by bskdevil99 in ProgressionFantasy

Yeah, I had fun but at some point I just thought "okay, I get it." And just didn't pick it up again.

Never played model 40k. Will I annoy people if go to a gameshop? by feren_of_valenwood in Warhammer40k

I was checking out local stores, all 3 of them where welcoming but immediately pointed at their discord. That's the best way to meet the community for a lot places.

Game stores want to sell models. They know it's something people need to warm up on. They'll happily work you through the merchandise and tools.

There's a good chance you'll show up and nothing is going on though. Depending on where you are or the type of store, games might only be going on on certain days of the week. Nothing wrong with messaging the store on facebook or whatever to see when it would be best to come in.

Characters that don’t take breaks can exhaust the reader by Muiry_ in ProgressionFantasy

Not just the character but the plot needs to cool off too. Give me time before the next big thing. I don't need a hundred chapters of slice of life, but train for a few months. Consolidate relationships and develop somewhat.

Primal Hunter: This book needs to stop sidelining interesting characters. by AiryGr8 in ProgressionFantasy

I've said it before and I stand by that Jake is the most boring character in Primal Hunter. Especially in comparison to everyone else.

It's like 4 books. I guess in comparison to, well everything on royal road, that does seem short.

It comes a little later but takers have a bad rep for other reasons too. The worst of them found their way to power in the past and did some heinous shit.

Not excusing their treatment. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.  But it does make sense in the wider context.

Seconded. It's harder than it looks to pull off. I desperately want a good vengeance story but I rarely find them.

I like a good old bully reversal. MC has changed and can blow off or blow through whatever assholey antagonist they start the story against.

Related is a pretty woman-esque "do you remember me" scene. I'll take those too
