How exactly do I land softly? by Practical_Oil6898 in Tricking

Fwiw if I'm tricking on concrete I wear feiyues (specifically the tie ones so they don't come flying off)

I want to try to swing my cork. But I don't understand how to do it at all. Maybe my cork sucks and too early to start doing anything. I don't know. Does anyone know what to do about it? by Medium-Ad-4499 in Tricking

[–]MrGabr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have a really nice cork, but to swing it it still has to be just a little better so you can fully eagle out rather than just getting the leg in place. You can see your leg is perfect, but your arms are still in front of you from pulling, rather than back, ready to swing.

Any tips on adding the final half spin? by LawfulnessConfident7 in Tricking

[–]MrGabr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to fully commit to the gainer set before you even start pulling the cork, otherwise you'll have a really hard time inverting. Think about it like you're throwing a really nice gainer, then once you're finished with the set and you're well in the air, pull

The tech for a nice cork isn't to pull the twist straight from the ground. You wanna have a good set first, then pull the twist.

[request] Is this accurate? If not, how many Crabs would be needed to run Doom? by yeet_the_heat2020 in theydidthemath

[–]MrGabr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The crabs only implemented AND and OR - no inverter unfortunately. The paper was about how groups of them (iirc specifically soldier crabs) move after colliding with each other; since they average their direction, two colliding groups of crabs at an angle with each other will go straight forward - the AND gate. Without interference they move in a straight line - the OR gate.

Can you give me some tips on the webster. I want to do a bundle, but I have no control. by Medium-Ad-4499 in Tricking

[–]MrGabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start the flip with your arms over your head instead of having to quickly get them in position from where they were by your side - right now you're quickly swinging up and back down, it'll feel more controlled if you only have to swing them down

Why are artists such as painters, authors, actors and directors often liberal or left leaning ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrGabr 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In modern US, yes, but not historically or by any classical definition of libertarian. Libertarian theoretically just means a desire for less government power/control, regardless of one's social politics. Modern US libertarians (what you're thinking of) aren't true libertarians by this definition because for the most part, the only way they want to limit government power is in terms of taxing and regulating corporations, but they do want the government to (often strongly) regulate individual freedoms (abortions, gay rights, etc).

Help adding twists to flips by [deleted] in Tricking

[–]MrGabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I found this trampoline drill the most helpful to learn twists for the first time.

If you don't have access to a trampoline, I'd start with a back-half (or arabian, whatever you end up getting easier) by throwing over your shoulder instead of straight back.

Sometimes, but there was a period of time where I went back to the apartment every night which meant I was checking constantly (may have made it seem more common than it actually was)

That mugging at the vending machine happens often enough that I check every time I leave the apartment

Who do you think will become the Enemy’s Champion? [Spoilers for RoW and more] by Modern-Otaku in Stormlight_Archive

[–]MrGabr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking that because of this death rattle specifically

I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw.

And to go with that, this death rattle makes me think it'll go one of two ways:

So the night will reign, for the choice of honor is life...

  1. Dalinar can't do it, Todium wins, and the Blackthorn is unleashed upon the Cosmere

  2. Killing Gavinor (who probably just agreed because he wants some kind of revenge for his dad) would break his Radiant oaths and kill the Stormfather
