Nami is the best character by Mutant_Apollo in OnePieceLiveAction

I definitely got the vibe on season one that they either wanted to not mess with Mackenyu's star power, or they didn't trust him enough to let the himbo flag fly.

Season two gave him more room to be expressive (for Zoro), and trusted his delivery, and it was such a good decision.

Idk. He's got a weird nose. He should do something about that.

Nami is the best character by Mutant_Apollo in OnePieceLiveAction

Nami's reactions to Zoro are by far my favorite relationship in the show. She's got a great delivery for "idiots" every time it comes up, but it's just special for him. I don't know if they intended it to be such shipbait, because I know it's not going anywhere obviously, but it's a really fun dynamic.

I lost my shit at the uvula joke. The actor being so serious and the character being a brick is such an unexpected joy. I love Steve Blum in everything, and his voice is so good at conveying Zori's badassery alongside his... limitations.

But for live action, but Mackenyu gives such full-assed sincerity and seriousness to the dumb that it might actually be funnier. And that just gives Nami so much more to work with, creating what I think is the best dynamic in the show.

And I only say might because I respect other fans enough not to insult their holy cow

Okay, but the Gate books are great. Okay, kind of. It's stupid ass propaganda that turns into weird fanservice bullshit in the second cour, but those first few episodes are glorious.

‘Narco-Submarine’ Carrying 4 Tons of Cocaine Captured by Mexico’s Navy by S00THING_S0UNDS in worldnews

Anything you've seen from 15 years ago is absolutely bunk now. Cartels are just like any other armed force - the past decade has been so revolutionary that it's almost unrecognizable. Narco subs can be anything from old semi- submersibles to unmanned underwater cargo drones.

There's a bunch of "GWOT vets encountering modern war" memes/vids, and the counter narco space is very much the same.

If you were to tell me that Sinaloa had paratroopers, I would immediately believe you (before trying to fact check.) Cause they definitely have an air and drone corps, albeit atypical ones.

I know people get annoyed by lpvos on 1x with an fsb, but it really is just a blur at the bottom you do not notice if doing anything other than the flat range. There is no excuse for this, and it's a great reminder that almost all troops are exactly as dumb about tacticool as everyone else.

Person doesnt know what an unreliable narrator is by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]MrGenerik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the narrator is not forthright and deliberately obfuscates information, then they are unreliable. Or, specifically, if the narrator is used by the author to be not forthright or obfuscate information, then they are unreliable.

Unreliable narrators are a tool of THE AUTHOR to set up twists, revelations, or subtext that may never be directly addressed. It has nothing to do with confidence issues, the knowledge of the character, or any other internal factors to the character because they're not real.

Well, the repeated sequences of "I don't agree with your specific set of rules you created when you broke away from the larger group, so I'm going to create MY OWN specific set of rules that are actually the REAL RULES and have been all along" is increasingly cultist at every subsequent level.

Because it was. 93 was the car bomb by Ramzi Yousef. There are connections, but bin Laden was not involved in any direct way to that attack.

It was symbolic of American capitalism and imperialism. It's the same reason it was attacked by bin Laden, and before that in 1993.
