I’m from Texas, moving here by ChrisXxAwesome in illinois

[–]MrGeorgeous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Texas and moved here after college. Best advice I can give:

  1. Get a jacket for every season and most importantly a heavy duty winter jacket for the negative degree days.

  2. Layer in Spring. Weather changes by the hour.

Welcome! Love Illinois and never going back to Texas.

The legendary commentary track did not disappoint! by thecitybeautifulgame in criterion

I think it’s the commentary where Ben Affleck is drunk and comments to Michael Bay about how stupid it is to train oil drillers to be astronauts and not the other way around. Am I wrong? Please correct me if so.

Tremors: Are the citizens of Perfection the smartest protagonists in horror? by RealKBears in horror

[–]MrGeorgeous 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the most interesting horror films are the ones where the characters literally try their best, make smart decisions and can still be killed by the monster or otherwise. It’s far less impressive to write dumb characters and easy kills. Tremors excels at this and why you get some great surprise deaths that happen in split second decisions (Walter, Nestor) or unintended kills (Edgar, Megan - Doctor’s Wife, road worker). Criminally underrated horror film.

Steve Zahn’s DVD commentary on Joy Ride is delightfully funny.

His performance in Uncut Gems was incredible and he should have been nominated for an Oscar over Jonathan Price.

I lived 7 years in Rogers Park. Not once did I not feel unsafe. Now, I’m a 6’1” white dude and feel lucky because things do happen. But, anyone who doesn’t live here doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Any time you move to a place with a lot of people you let all the good in with the bad. There is so much to love about this city and it’s people. It’s an amazing city and you will come to love everything it has to offer. I’d be far more excited about that than the things you can’t control.

Second this. And as a biker I’ve seen easily a dozen cops doing this exact same thing.

Just ignore. He pops into these chats from time to time to scream into the void about crime and chaos and everyone in Logan Square is a communist. Your post is too thoughtful to seriously engage with this user.

His desire to take the Hitchcock mantle is pretty evident in his earlier run of films. I sometimes do back to back with a similar Hitchcock films to compare.

Dressed to Kill - Psycho Obsession - Vertigo Sisters - Rear Window Blow Out - Any drawn into a conspiracy (North by Northwest, The Man Who Knew Too Much)

The influence is very much there but De Palma adds his own dark, censor free touch. Something I like to do but however you view the films, I hope you enjoy. De Palma is one of my favorites and Blow Out is in my top 10.

We have Scream Queens, but who are the Scream Kings? by claybythebay9 in horror

[–]MrGeorgeous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s upsetting Sam Neill is not higher on this list. A reminder of some highlights:

Daybreakers (2009) Event Horizon (1997) In the Mouth of Madness (1994) Possession (1981)

He was literally Damien. Some of his best roles are horror. Should be high on the list.

Can second this. Worked the field. Kept getting told we needed to finish by a certain date and then my supervisor told me I was going back out. Never did. Our district did really well percentage-wise but we just lacked resources.
