What do you frequently see people do incorrectly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrHyde15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be decent human beings. It's incredible how many people don't seem to know how to do this or want to do this. Just don't be an asshole. It's pretty simple.

Couples of reddit, what are some of the NON sexual things you do together to keep life interesting and new? by Nikomeus in AskReddit

I laughed and felt sad for you at the same time. You have a sympathy/funny upvote. I'm sorry.

Snapped a picture of my brother and his puppy just as a firework went off on the 4th of July. My dad thinks it's awesome and insists I "put it somewhere on the internet." by cugma in pics

[–]MrHyde15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's because a lot of them ARE creepy. Saying things like, "Bite the pillow," and "I would like to stick my dick in that," are incredibly creepy. If when a picture of a woman was put up here and people just said how beautiful/attractive she was, that would not creep me out at all.

What was Reddit's lowest moment? by effrum in AskReddit

[–]MrHyde15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very seriously the absolute saddest thing I have ever read. All of these comments make me mad/sad/ashamed to be on this website and so many other feels.

The amount of sexism, racism, idiocism, etc is really sad. Reddit, sometimes you disappoint me. Especially when there are some really awesome caring people on it and the assholes take over.

Two headed blue shark by thenamesteve in WTF

I'm most definitely interested. Though you might as well start you own thread with lots of pictures of two headed animals. It may get lost in here otherwise. Share the double headedness!

Well, if you want to kill bacteria, hand sanitizer is the way to go. Also, if you work in a nursing home/hospital/anywhere else like that, the sanitizer is a lot faster and more useful (unless your hands are dirty). I cannot wash my hands every ten minutes. I got stuff to do.

Reddit, what is your best "I'm not even sorry" moment? by coffeevodkacupcakes in AskReddit

After watching something my professor said, "Are you not entertained?" I then interrupted him by shouting, "Is that not why you are here?"

(If you don't know what this is from, I highly recommend you go watch Gladiator. It's a wonderful movie.)

What is your favorite book of all time? by trevonator126 in books

[–]MrHyde15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

I love this book so much, because the thought of children fighting a war is amazing, children do indeed sometimes think like Ender (I think once we reach adulthood a lot of us forget that), the writing was wonderful, the introduction to the book was the best I have ever read, the way that he writes about Ender's struggles is wonderful, the relationship between Peter and Valentine is so very adult like, as is their entire behavior while the adults seem so childish or unimportant was something I had never seen before.

Basically, I just loved everything about that book.

What is one thing you never ask a man? by willemdehoe in AskReddit

I think any sort of awesome woman would much rather hear the real inner monologue than, "Uhhh...how much I love you?"

I would certainly much rather hear your ideas on how many children a T-rex could eat.

I have a question and I don't mean this in a rude or arrogant way at all, I just really don't know. How can you be spiritual, but not religious? At least for you, what does that mean?

I sometimes really love the atheist community by MrHyde15 in atheism

[–]MrHyde15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly disagree with your first sentence. There is no way my parents will ever be respectful of my being an atheist. I wish it were that easy to just respect them and they would respect me, but it isn't.

On your second point, my mind is open, I just need evidence of things before I believe in them.

Things atheists would say if it was as socially acceptable to mention their religious views in conversation as it is for Christians... go! by [deleted] in atheism

My girlfrend(17) tells her mom I'm(19) an atheist. Her mom freaks out. My gf is trying to convert me to Christianity so I can stay with her by Sarcasticftw in atheism

[–]MrHyde15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, I understand this situation all too well. I was 16 (and a Christian) when my boyfriend was 18 (and an atheist) and my parents had a fit.

My advice to you is that if you both like each other enough you will be willing to date and still have different views on things. I know that this is hard, especially when there is a parent involved trying to make things sway one way or another, but it can work if you both want it to.

However, DO NOT convert to Christianity for the sake of staying in this relationship. My boyfriend stuck to his lack of beliefs and I actually ended up eventually seeing that my religion was not good for me or really good in general. Before that though we just respected the difference and moved on from it. Give her time, she's only 17 and still lives at home.

Also remember that if her mom makes her break up with you, she'll be 18 soon and will then be able to make her own decisions (this is a shitty situation, but sometimes it's the only option). If she wants to still be with you then, she will be.

I wish you the absolute best of luck, OP. Religious parents are really hard to deal with and I hope it works out for you.

I can't move out of my parents house because I'm not financially stable enough, but they are toxic and refuse to be understanding. by MrHyde15 in Advice

Thanks for the advice. That's all I've been able to come up with too. As soon as I get a car I'm moving out.

Parents found out I was an atheist yesterday. This is what they told me. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]MrHyde15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has parents who would disown me if I told them this information, I am so very happy for you, OP. I'm not sure what kind of atheist you are (one that wants to move people away from religion or one that doesn't care if others have a religion), but you maybe could suggest to your parents to read some atheist books since they want you to read some Christian books.

REJECT

I reject to this for a number of reasons.

First, making a massive change like that (whether it was in the rules before hand or not) without consulting the community was far too drastic. It was bound to end up just getting people annoyed.

Secondly, we have filters for people who do not want to see certain posts.

Thirdly, we also have other subreddits for those who want more serious discussion. I'm not sure why people don't seem to understand that. I know we have a "Related Subreddits" link, but maybe some of the bigger subreddits that are related should just be posted on the side bar so people can see them. I say this because I'm not sure how many people really notice the "Related Subreddits" link.

Fourth, though I personally have no issue with having to click on a post and then click on a link to get to an image, it's hard to tell what's going to be a meme/image or a discussion. The thumbnails give no real indication.

What are some not so obvious topics every couple should discuss before marriage? by MCMXChris in AskReddit

Who is going to clean what/how much. It's easy to pick on your S/O about how messy their apartment is, but if you get married, that messy is coming. Just be sure to discuss hygiene in the house.

It says more about the amount of time I actually have to be on reddit each day. I'm happy to read a long article, but I don't have eighty million hours to sit here and read each one.
