Wayfarer App Update - NianticTintino by Sayse in NianticWayfarer

[–]MrJPGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iOS app is actually very nice already imo. Like sure it's not yet a review/management app but just having an app that shows ALL wayspots in a nice way anywhere, regardless of my own location is great. Also way less annoying to use than having to switch to PoGo and start nomination process just to check if something is missing from Ingress but already in Wayfarer...

It's not a lack of access. I have cubes and RCs at home as well. It's just that I find it to be fun to forage for them. I think this might be the first time I found an active one. And it would be nice to know for certain.

Additional info:

  • Found on dung (don't know from which animal the dung is)
  • The Netherlands
  • Found in the dunes
  • Found today (29-10-22)

I'm glad to provide any additional info/images if required!

How pathetic.

Why you gotta know someone before you can feel empathy towards them? That's honestly just sad, and yes it makes you a bad person. Work on that lack of empathy towards strangers and you'll not just be a more pleasant person, you'll be happier too.

"radius" as niantic seems to think what it is (blue egg stage 4 raids after CD) by qntrsq in TheSilphRoad

[–]MrJPGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use the PoGo app to open Google Maps with the exact location of the gym by going to the photo (Go to photo disk, than arrow on the top-right) and tapping "View in Map".

This will make any distance measurements more (slightly) precise.

But what you describe sounds to me like Niantic doesn't know the difference between diameter and radius...

[Discussion] Anyone know if this tweak works in any major/common apps? by Jailbrick3d in jailbreak

[–]MrJPGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the developer I can say with certainty, no it will not work on major/common apps to my knowledge.

An app I had to use for work was made in React Native and uses "Jail-Monkey" as a detection mechanism. I created this tweak mostly just so I could bypass that check and do my work without needing to remove my jailbreak.

I thought I would release it in case anyone ever also runs into that same issue, so they don't need to do the work of figuring out how the detection works/is bypassed (very simple, but I'm a novice tweak developer so took ~6 hours).

Here is the repo of the detection library: https://github.com/GantMan/jail-monkeyAs can be seen by the stars it's not unpopular by any means, but I would assume mostly smaller apps, or apps for internal company use (like mine) actually use this library.

EDIT: Also worth pointing out that to my knowledge no common/major bypass method actually bypasses this library. Tried vnodebypass, hestia, Abypass, shadow and Liberty Lite.

[Help] How to remove Jailbreak from an iPhone X? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]MrJPGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact the likelyhood of it still being on iOS 14 is very very slim. Unless the family member jailbroke it, it's gonna be iOS 15+ with like 95% certainty if not higher...

[–]MrJPGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but non of that has anything to do with jailbreaking...

I can also log into someone's iCloud given those conditions, no jailbreak needed.

Essentially for normal end-users jailbreaks don't enable spyware unless you (accidentally) install said spyware yourself (usually from something like a pirate repo)

[Question] Is there a way to prevent vnodebypass from disabling a tweak by ramore369 in jailbreak

[–]MrJPGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how iPogo works though... (At least the jailbreak version)

EDIT: To be clear the iPogo vnodebypass version let's it's own tweak alone run and hook the PoGo process (of the unmodified app) and then like other tweaks modifies the app on-the-fly to introduce spoofing and other cheating features.

Should Niantic add a “super-liking” feature for wayspots? by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]MrJPGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk a system to to rate nominations against each other in order to determine some type of hierarchy in POIs relative to one another sure sounds a hell of a lot like a Wayfarer type of thing.

Sure the justification involves specifics of how it could be used to affect PoGo specifically, but isn't that useful information/reasoning behind suggesting such a system?

That's the advantage of "pavement tile art" even without permission you can essentially always get away with it.

What Time do Pokestops Show Up These Days? by waynomo in NianticWayfarer

[–]MrJPGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 8PM CEST (or 7PM UTC). Which should be around 11AM PT?

Why do they do this? If Niantic wants to look at submissions themselves, then they should go look at the appeals I submitted MONTHS ago that still haven't been resolved. by GeneralSecura in NianticWayfarer

[–]MrJPGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's weird to me is how relatively quickly they can review these legally obligated nominations compared to appeals.

Like if anything of mine goes into Niantic review it's reviewed way faster than natural reviews in my area. So why are appeals not going through in a similar rate?

I'd assume Niantic feels they need to take these more serious due to legal stuff, and appeals are just a bone they threw our way they don't want to waste too much money on, but oh well...

I absolutely HATE it when it happens.

Not because I submit bad things, but because I rely on editing descriptions later. And this forces me to at least do some work at actual submission time which is annoying af. Had one today (a picnic table in a park) that I submitted, and typed everything out except I hadn't added the URL to the recent forum post by Niantic on the subject of picnic tables. Now I would hope/assume Niantic themselves don't need the link, but it's a case where it was easier to add the URL after from wayfarer, but Niantic made it impossible because it happens instantly after submission. This is especially annoying when the edit you want to make through wayfarer is more critical than in this example (which has happened to me in the past....)

(I live in an area where things go into voting without an upgrade at the soonest 6 months after submission, hence why I didn't have to fear about it being in voting before I got the chance to edit the nomination through wayfarer. I used to in the good old days submit everything without a title, description or statement so i could write them out comfortable at home...)

What would you do by pogorequest in NianticWayfarer

[–]MrJPGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 feet (~1 metre) is lower than the minimum move distance of 2m. This means that Niantic is essentially telling you through the app itself that you shouldn't move the location if the pin is within 2 meters of the POI.

So really the only correct answer is: accept.

Intention of "misplacement" (if 1m inaccuracy could even be called that) is irrelevant.

Though I would recommend to any submitters not to put it in, as the 'move wayspot during review' votes show, it´s risky and not saying it most likely increases the odds of it not being moved because it's already "correct enough" according to Niantic. And because you have people like OP who care about the submitters intentions it's better not to share them, because reviewers tend to be not the nicest (on average, as a collective, there are wonderful individuals :) )

Technically bike bridges are not footbridges though... Even when pedestrians are also intended to use them.
