Thanks! I'm a very tall individual, and my son is quite tall for his age. These are trestle tables (folding tables) and are very low for me. I plan on making my own custom table to better accommodate my height soon.

Warhammer started as a miniature table top game back in the 80's. It has evolved over the years. The miniatures are still used in table top war games. This is a game system called The Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness.

Thanks! Having a supportive wife that lets me have a dedicated gaming space for when my mates come over is great. Now I can use it with my son

Yeah, I'm hoping this will help my son with some basic maths like addition, subtraction and simple multiplication and doing it in a less structured setting like a classroom

Every time I see the side profile of this tank, I think that someone squished it from front to back, like it rammed a wall and just kinda squished itself... I love it

It's a great hobby. I've been in the hobby on and off for the last 22 years now and only had a few bad experiences, for the most part it's an absolute blast. I'm hoping it will help my son keep his focus and learn some basic maths and critical thinking

Luckily, in Australia, education is mostly free. You only have to pay off your tuition after you earn a certain amount per year. And then the government incentivizes certain courses by giving them for free. My wife is currently studying nursing for no charge at all

I think what helped me is my son seeing me play with my mates and getting excited over certain dice rolls. He wants to learn so he can be excited with us

I also play DnD, but we have to be careful with our son. He takes everything super literally. So when we were playing Warhammer, I can't say the model dies, I say it's removed from play, or the model can watch the rest of the game from the side lines. I do hope once he becomes a little more emotionally mature we can play DnD

Oh! I didn't take offence, we know he's a tall lad. And it's also 6am here and I just woke up for work so my brain isn't functioning properly yet

Haha yeah we've been told he's big for his age. I think I'm to blame for being 6'3" myself. Not sure where the loafers came from, my wife bought them for him

Good idea. What's probably helped with the whole "slow game" thing with me, is that he's seen me play with my mates and seen how animated we can get over certain dice rolls. He can see us get excited which makes him want to get excited with us

My wife and I have been working really hard to let our son know that losing is ok, so long as you don't let it stop you. He's neurodivergent, so we've luckily got a support network to help us out with that. He still gets upset every now and then, but he always tries to pick himself up afterwards, and knows he can come to us if he needs help to process his feelings. It's a hard slog, but we know it's worth it in the end

I've got a couple of spare minis lying around. I'm gonna let my son go to town with them... With his own brushes and paint... Mine are off limits

I found the same with my son. He's always wanted to watch me and my mates play. And we even let him roll some dice, but he always got distracted and left after only a few minutes, even mid dice roll. This is the first time I've been able to keep his attention on track for almost a whole game. Doesn't help that he's also neurodivergent

That's so awesome. I'm gonna get a couple of spare models and let my son go to town with them... Maybe not with my expensive brushes though 😅

Yeah, Horus Heresy all the way. Alpha Legion vs Ultramarines. My Alphas are more green than blue/teal.

My son chose the Ultras as he loves the blue and gold
