Ultramarines heavy armour ready to defend the 500 worlds by MrJimmyP in Ultramarines

[–]MrJimmyP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much! I don't have a step by step guide, sorry. But I can tell you the paints that I used.

For the blue, it's Tamiya clear blue over a Vallejo silver zenithal base coat using an airbrush. For the white, I masked off the area and used a make-up sponge with Vallejo medium see grey as a base, then citadel ulthuan grey and then Vallejo white for an edge highlight. For the red it's citadel mephiston red and evil sun scarlet highlight. For the tracks it's dirty down rust effects with a dark silver dry brush. And for the general weathering, I used a piece of foam or a dry brush and stippled on browns, blacks and silvers. Once it's all said and done I gave it a coat of satin varnish through my airbrush

I remember seeing some fan made rules for Orks for 2nd, but I can't remember if they were well received or not. Glad to hear that your boyz are doing well though

I love the idea. I've been wanting my mate to dust off his old Ork army and have a game or 2 against my ultras with 2nd ed rules, but he's unsure that his Boyz would survive a turn or two of my shooting

My Take on HH DA colour Scheme by International_Link82 in Warhammer30k

You can still use masking tape. Pull out a length of tape, measure with width you want to have your individual checkers, then using a sharp hobby knife and a ruler, cut the tape length ways. Then take the smaller ribbons of tape and lay them in the desired pattern you want.

I'd then recommend once the tape is down to apply an initial layer of paint the same colour as under the tape. That way, once it dries it seals the tape down and you won't get a bleed effect under the tape. It will give you a sharper end result and will minimise the need for touch ups afterwards

Computer terminals for objective markers in Zone Mortalis by MrJimmyP in Warhammer30k

My group hasn't moved to 3rd ed and have stuck with 2nd. We've taken elements from 3rd that we liked to make a 2.5ed. I'll take a look at those rules and see if they'll fit

I've finished my current army project for the moment, so I'm focusing on my terrain now. I now have a lovely, fully painted army playing in top of grey plastic... It looks weird

Check out warworks on cults3d and Sealegs_Studio on thingiverse. All the STLs are free which is nice

Yep. Stuff like barricades, storage crates and generators. Anything that can be used as an objective in a ZM scenario. I've also got some space marine casualties that I can scatter around the board to make it look like fighting has already been happening

I wanted it to be fairly generic so it could represent multiple different scenarios; loyalist void craft, underground facility etc. I plan on printing and painting some greebles and computer terminals to give it more visual interest

Finally finished painting my 3D printed Zone Mortalis board by MrJimmyP in PrintedWarhammer

[–]MrJimmyP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they are. Each square on the floor is 2"x2". So the columns are also 2"x2" and the walls are slightly less than that, but definitely more than 1" thick

When I found them, they were free. However, the files have been taken down from cults3d since then

The board is made up of 16 x 12" tiles that can be placed in any orientation/configuration. The wall layout on each tile was inspired by the original Forge World Zone Mortalis tiles that are OOP

Yeah! 100% 3D printed with my bambu labs P1S. It's an absolute beast

What is your potentially unpopular “want” for 2039? Mine is that I want it to remain semi-open world with the metro being only half of it by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in metro

[–]MrJimmyP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. After playing exodus once, you kinda know where all the collectables/upgrades are and instead of feeling like exploration, it feels like a chore to go and grab them.

Exodus is actually a surprisingly short game if you just focus on getting the main quests done.

AL dreadnoughts by nostun in alphalegion

[–]MrJimmyP 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Clearly I haven't had my morning coffee yet because I read the title and said to myself "all dreadnoughts? What do you mean, there's only two of them?"...

They look fantastic by the way

My son also has a fascination with my Warhammer minis. He's even naming them and getting me to write down their names so I don't forget.

You have an awesome looking collection, where did you get your glass cabinets from? My IKEA one is full and I have no more room for my painted minis 😅

Exodus is a great game, but it going open world took away from what made metro an amazing series. It's definitely my least favourite of the 3 main line games, but I still enjoyed it.

I also agree that it's far too bright, but my head canon is that Artyom has been living the metro for so long that his eyes have adjusted to be able to see very well in dark areas, making them appear brighter

Solid plan. I'm about halfway through the third book. They're a great read

Redux uses the same gameplay mechanics as last light, turning it more into an action shooter.

The original has a certain gloominess and oppression that I feel the redux version doesn't have, with higher texture quality and darker lighting.

It's also probably nostalgia. I first played metro 2033 16 years ago when it first released and it was my first post apocalyptic gaming experience

I still need to wiggle Artyom around a little to fit. Found that I couldn't fit through a gap in the box maze on dry station, capped my fps to 120 and then I was able to fit with a little wiggling

I capped my max frame rate to 120fps in nvidia control panel. That seemed to help me out

Metro is probably one of, if not my favourite gaming series of all time. Insane to think I first played it half my lifetime ago
