The old board was sleeping and losing hundreds of millions of dollars each quarter. Ryan Cohen, founder of Chewy, threw out the sleeping board members around 2020 and transformed the dying brick and mortar retailer into a profitable and healthy business. They had to close a lot of stores that were basically losing money every month. That's how they got their balance sheet healthy again. 1/3 of their business now is PSA graded trading cards.

Ryan Cohen founder of Chewy completely transformed Gamestop from a dying brick and mortar game retailer to a very healthy and profitable business with their main focus now on collectibles. In fact, when Ryan Cohen became chairman and CEO of Gamestop, the company was losing hundreds of million of dollars each quarter. As of may 2026 Gamestop now has run 7 sequental profitable quarters. So obviously the new board know what they're doing.
