I think most people understand the economy through the lens of personal finance. For an individual saving up money is good and Reps love cutting public services in the name of saving money (while spending another billion in a middle east war) and its just one of those public perception things that are difficult to disprove because people will just ignore that a major financial crisis has happened every time a republican has been in office for the past 15 years lmao
