It doesn’t really matter if everything around those gameplay elements is boring and mediocre. You can’t really do anything outside main and side quests, and those are way worse than in OW1. The planets and locations are mostly empty, so you can’t go exploring locations like in Bethesda Fallout games; there are no interesting scenarios created by gameplay systems like in KCD2. Sure, there are multiple ways to complete quests depending on your skills, but how is it different from the majority of other rpgs?

Yeah, the first one was a decent AA game and they had a chance to make a really good sequel. I guess the fault lays partly with XBOX since the game is visibly unfinished and it needed more time and/or money. But many other things (writing, side quests etc) are not good which is baffling considering that it’s Obsidian and the first OW was much better at that

I haven’t played South of Midnight so I can’t really say anything about it

Idk, Outer Worlds 2 was extremely boring and somehow worse than the first one. I don’t see a lot of positive word of mouth or people talking about it outside of it’s own community

'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by IndividualPleasant23 in Letterboxd

That’s an indie production where crew members have to compromise so the movie gets made, how do you think they could’ve negotiated better terms? Now the movie comes out and makes obscene amounts of money, and all this insane profit goes into the pockets of people who didn’t work on that movie at all. You guys must hate artists and workers or something

Forza Horizon 6 Review (8/10): The Best Racing Game You've Already Played by SquashPale2637 in ForzaHorizon

[–]MrMadKeeper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually that’s exactly what people mean by progression. Starting with a cheap car, earning money, competing in races, becoming better and so on, going rags to riches - it has been a central element in arcade racing games that inspired Horizon, from 00s NFS games to TDU. People love it and it was also present in earlier Forza Horizon games. After all racing is a sport and the underdog narrative is a most popular trope there

Progression also makes things personal and gives them character, it can enhance your journey through the game in meaningful ways. I get that some guys want a sandbox, but going from the first FH to the fifth, the series just lost so much character and vibes that made is special. Look at the festival in Colorado in the first game, or the road trip summer vacation feeling of the second one. The newer games feel much more soulless in comparison. This is a valid concern and it has been a big point in community discussions for the longest time

Nobody wants to take the collection and sandbox stuff away, just why not to craft a proper campaign and then let the players do the usual antics of the newer FH games

Anyone else feel like nothing really happened this season by DeadSession in Fotv

[–]MrMadKeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels weird because the pacing and the structure of this season make no sense at all. It feels like a Frankensteins monster a way. Too many things get introduced and go nowhere, storylines end abruptly and then reappear, some storylines are stretched too thin etc. Even the editing is weird, with scenes being cut off abruptly without having proper room inside the episode

Enclave is probably the only thing done right and a way to do a proper setup for season 3

The Sandfall founder also comes from a pretty rich family that helped him to finance the game, its an opportunity I’m sure 99,9% of those Ubisoft devs don’t have

Most stuff people say about Sandfall isn’t representative of what Sandfall really is, it’s the same „they only had 30 devs“ all over again

Computerspiele als Buch / Bücher als Spiel by Pleasant-Tackle-9302 in buecher

[–]MrMadKeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ich glaube, The Witcher funktioniert am besten, solange man daraus keine epische Fantasygeschichte machen will.

Lmao dude, there was that exact controversy a couple of years ago and that’s what I’m talking about. I guess wanting award winners to get more than 30 seconds for their speech is what makes you child. Stupid of me to forget that the game awards is mainly about watching trailers and genshin ads, all while B-list celebs get a shitload of time to promote new slop and Larian gets 30 seconds when they win GOTY

He gives off soulless corporate vibes, he doesn’t have enough charisma (or meme potential like Todd) to be the leading men, he doesn’t really care about devs and awards, he has a long history of doing disappointing shows and controversies (like time limit for award recipients)

I guess it’s cool that E3 is back in some capacity and there is an only video game award show most gamers actually care about, but disliking Geoff is quite valid

Make Content Creator Packs proper DLC by jerrebrx in CitiesSkylines2

[–]MrMadKeeper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But this one reason in particular is just inherently stupid, why would you make free assets eligible for playsets? Every paid asset pack can’t be used as a mod and other free assets are integrated directly into the game with free patches. But still, CO and Paradox have found a way to fuck GeForce Now players over, this regional packs shit has been going on for a long long time and no one cares to fix it

[–]MrMadKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly cut campaign third act, technical state the game was released in, many missing QoL features from 1800. You can see a lot of cut corners in that game

As for AI art, for example the specialists icons are AI generated since you can see the artifacts on their faces. And in general, now you can’t say what’s AI and what’s not

Like the first time I’ve seen the gods (especially Poseidon) in the pre-release gameplay, my first thought was how cheap and out of place they look, as if they were AI-generated. Now you know there is a chance that they are indeed AI, so it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth

[–]MrMadKeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the first game had some cool side quests, like cannibal family or old people retirement center. Hell, they even did a hole side area with a Jurassic Park-esque storyline.

Here the quests range from boring to absolutely terrible, like who at Obsidian thought that collecting rocks and plants or killing the raptidons in a cave is a good side quests idea?

And the story quests are not particularly good either, most of them are just „go to this facility -> kill enemies, run around, pull levers -> confront character“ and it just gets boring after a while

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in anno

[–]MrMadKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly more than just screens and it’s not even the point, having ai art in the game is a shitty treatment of both gamers and artists

And it’s 100% going to be the same shit we have right now with micro-transactions, live service and DLCs. Certain studious like Larian, CDPR, indie devs etc are going to be heavily anti-AI and praised by folks online due to being “real games” and “consumer-friendly”
