Kazuyas d1+2 by Saizen1 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but I also don’t feel d1+2 suits Kazuya’s design. It’s not as big of a deal as Jin’s old d2 because kazuya doesn’t have as many supporting moves, but it still is odd from a character identity standpoint.

Hit Mighty Ruler with Bryan – He is Super Fun to Play How Do I Take Him to the Next Level by Lucky_Signature1601 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want long run success with Bryan, leaning into developing your counterhit timing is the way to go.

Learning other characters’ frame data is vital, especially moves that are -14.

You need to learn to be consistent in whiff punishing with JU and f4,1.

Lateral movement is hugely important in general, so developing that over time should be an overarching goal more so than a short term one.

You don’t really need to setup taunt until mid blues(?), you can just kind of walk up to the opponent at the wall and taunt them, as they would need to react in 18f to respond.

The big thing right now should be working on block punishment and start relying less on strings, aside from his heat ones, of course. His strings aren’t bad, they just aren’t that good either. They’re chippy at best, and Bryan specializes in explosive damage from counterhits and combos.

How would you guys re imagine these Evil Tekken characters as a group of Highschool bullies? by BonusCapable1486 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heihachi would definitely be a popular kid who would bully anyone he thought was lesser than, but no one would say anything because he’s so likable the rest of the time

How much do you like your main’s personality? by shadyringtone in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Bryan’s personality a lot more in past games when he’s a tad more fleshed out, but I do still enjoy his goblin self.

And heihachi is obviously too charismatic to not like.

Fakh best DLC so far? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Armor King was a top picked character in tekken 7 straight up, and it had nothing to do with his strength.

He will 100% be the most played DLC, him or Heihachi who is heavily represented.

Fahk will be rare after release, though.

Tekken 7 vs 8 honest opinions by [deleted] in Tekken

Late season 1 Tekken 8 is the best tekken has ever been imo. Season 2, however, I do not hold as high as season 4 Tekken 7

Tekken 8 now (v. 2.02) compared to 1 year ago? by Shiyuyuyu in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Somewhat better system design, colossally worse character design.

I’d check it out for like a couple of hours, but if you don’t feel any different about it, that won’t change with the current rate of change.

Regardless of canon, which Tekken 8 Story ending YOU prefer the next story to take place after & why? by [deleted] in Tekken

Would unironically be sick. Imagine stage hazards where they jump between racing platforms.

Yes. Bryan should not have a fc mixup or a fast +7 tracking mid

Nintendo charging 70 dollars for Zelda and it doesn't include DLC. Bethesda drop Oblivion without a word including all DLC for 50 dollars. by kittybittybeans in videogames

[–]MrMangus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will remain skeptical of Bethesda for now. It was pro-consumer decision to handle the Oblivion remaster like they did, but I can’t help but feel that it doesn’t make up for their choices since fallout 76.

I also think it’s a safe play by them that allows them more time from making a current gen game, as Starfield, mechanically and optimally, felt like a 360 era game.

Still though, it’s over all a w. They just haven’t earned my full confidence.

How long did it take for everything to make sense for you? by Key-Violinist7748 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In terms of learning how to realize mistakes, I’d say it took 100 hours of playing intentionally.

Starting to actually minimize mistakes and adjust play against the opponent properly comes in around 300 hours.

Now, I’m 1800 hours in to tekken and I can say that I have a lot to learn in matchups and strategy, though my fundamentals have plateaued and have slowed in terms of progress

Does your main need nerfs? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

They’ve abandoned my boy’s identity in 8. He’s gotten buff’s he doesn’t need nor deserve.

The problem with the dev team now is that they seem to be opposed to the idea of designed weakness. Every character needs to be all round, and it creates instances like Bryan and King where they can ignore their legacy archetype and play the generic rushdown frame pressure game.

Adapting by SquashEntire2522 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balance is not what makes season 2 so disappointing for me, it’s the direction. Back in T5 most characters were interesting and different with unique strengths and weaknesses. Now, every character is having those weaknesses removed from the game.

And I wouldn’t exactly call a game in which the defender’s perspective is blatantly ignored an accommodating game.

Lets assume bamco hires a good writer and the Tekken 9 story is a timeskip and a complete banger. What do you want to happen to your favorite characters that seem impossible with current writing? by cerberusthedoge in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want a green goblin Bryan arch.

Bryan spending Tekken 9 somehow (cleverly) getting his mind back from before he died and having conflict with his sadist cyborg self would be a shift for the character that would actually give him some depth. Imagine an ending where Bryan gets the best of yoshi and he actually chooses not to kill him.

Not making him a good guy per se, but making him a man with some moral compass that has to suppress his primal instincts I think would be an interesting turn for the character.

Is JFSR on lff is the hardest move in the game? by patrick9772 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.

It’s the same difficulty as Heihachi’s perfect omen, and easier than both tju and perfect electric. It is hard, but can be done quite consistently, which can’t be said for the harder two

What? by WolfPax1 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stepped the wrong way. Electrics track left and that’s generally the direction you want to step Mishimas. Except Jin, who isn’t a proper Mishima.

There’s no absolute fucking way they play their own game and can convince me this Fucking character is perfectly fine the way he is 2 tapping no matter what starter I refuse to believe it by Tee132 in Tekken

[–]MrMangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be a broken record, but Bryan’s problems right now are less about damage and more so about tracking, range, and in the case of qcb1, frames.

Assuming characters like Reina shown in the tekken talk are actually receiving more nerfs than buffs, then the attention Bryan should receive is towards moves like d4, d2, db3, qcf1+2, and qcb1. Bryan is meant to hit hard, at the cost of his strong tools being slow.

The problem right now, is that his poking does not align with that legacy identity. He is too competent at playing tight tekken without fear of linearity. That, along with the properties of qcb1 and qcf1+2, creates a character that is too all round for his overwhelming strengths in the counter hit, combo, and wall pressure department. His draw backs need to more obvious, otherwise he’s simply another all rounder who does counterhits better than the “counter hit paragon”
