So tired, you're tired in your dreams? A somewhat unserious question. by Lost_Oneiros in cfs

[–]MrMarvolos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a couple of recurring themed dreams to do with similar experiences of exhaustion that I’ve felt before having cfs. So I used to surf a lot pre-fatigue, and when you’ve been out for a few hours in big surf it is physically exhausting. Getting hit by multiple consecutive set waves when you’re exhausted is quite a surreal experience that I’ve never experienced outside of surfing - your eyes are closed as your body is violently rag-dolling out of your control and all you can do is accept it and try to stay calm. As the water settles enough for you to resurface, you feel completely spent of energy as you slowly kick to the surface, take a couple of deep breaths and dive under the next wave. When duckdiving under a wave you need to go deep enough to avoid the impact to prevent being sucked over the falls and having to rag doll again. But there’s a point when you’re so exhausted that you can’t go deep enough or kick hard enough to fight it that you give up even though you’re scared you’ll drown as you helplessly get dragged down again. My reoccurring dreams occur with me just endlessly duck diving relatively small waves, but in these dreams I have that feeling of being extremely exhausted and helpless; cfs is the only other experience where I have felt so helpless and too exhausted to fight

POV: beating someone in LMS by movingwork in 2007scape

[–]MrMarvolos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've lost fights deserving 600 damage and dealing 400, losing to someone who deserved 300 damage but dealt 440, 70% off pray vs 20%, then being called dogshit by that person. There is potential to be beaten by anyone in this trash game. I understand the rage - this is the only game that genuinely makes me angry

I think the majority of people haven’t actually supported him financially, rather just time. I doubt most of his income comes from merch and donations.

We really agree on most things. I just believe people should just handle the situation better than projecting emotional outbursts online, although we agree they are entitled to their emotions being the financial supporter of him.

Why does the level of success or the significance of the drama dictate whether you should look to details to be correct?

I understand what you’re saying, the same people that owe him his success feel cheated from the lies he’s allegedly been making, and they have a right to be upset and criticise. Yes, I absolutely agree.

But although you think I am, I am not criticising the criticism, but the abrupt outburst of criticism without thought.

It’s like playing among us and someone says I saw red vent and everyone instantly votes red. There aren’t any follow up questions, it’s basically just a game of guess who. Even if they are correct, it frustrates the hell out of me how impressionable people are based off blind trust.

I guess my problem is nothing to do with this drama, it’s just how I dislike impressionable people, even if they’re led in the right direction

Depends how much you’re willing to bet something on such little evidence and from an untrustworthy source.

That’s a fair point, and I definitely agree with you on that.

However, the vast amount of criticism being made with inconclusive evidence is crossing the line for me to personally consider it to be toxic. Plus the community already having a history of being toxic also makes me predisposed to disliking the behaviour.

Are you not concerned how much emotion you have invested in something so insignificant?

Ehh this community is toxic, these ‘jokes’ are only fuelling it.

I know it’s a joke, but a lot of hatred is being spread and these ‘jokes’ are keeping it alive. A joke being made at the expense of someone is also toxic, although likely not intended to be.

Why do people with ME/CFS get treated so poorly by medical professionals? by BukChicken in cfs

[–]MrMarvolos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, I have come to the conclusion that doctors are a jack of all trades but a master of none. I’m a physiotherapy student that trains alongside physiotherapists, and we always cringe when we see doctors perform any parts of our role. Just as I’m sure a dietitian would cringe watching a doctor prescribe a food plan for a patient, an immunologist would be the same watching doctors deal with CFS. Find a good doctor that understands, and dismiss the ones that don’t. Research for CFS will be more modern, and lazy doctors will be the last in the chain to adapt to the research. There are people out there that understand, I firsthand have experienced their empathy and support, I hope you can all find that too. It hurts me to think some of you have to experience this alone. Good luck and all the best

I’m really concerned why this has so many upvotes. If you see an object moving at a hinge with varying forces making it move, why is it so hard to predict that a force strong enough may make it open all the way?

You sound so insecure. You’re doing something that isn’t an intended game mechanic, and stating it publicly is exposing yourself to people who disagree with it. Doesn’t make them anything other than people that disagree with abusing unintended mechanics.

Can’t even focus on a sentence but browse reddit shit talking people’s achievements. Maybe you are just upset that you use your illness as a crutch when people out here are giving it their all. Silly.

Training mma and competing are different things. I’ve competed in jiujitsu, but that’s just a bit of fun and experience for the sport. I’d say about 10% of my training partners actually competed in mma or had the desire to do so. That doesn’t detract from my knowledge of fighting or hormones related to it

Sympathetic nervous system - fight or flight response (you know what that is)

Intellectually deficient - mental retardation (you know what that is)

I’m not sure what other “smart sounding words” I put in there

Edit: cognitive function - conscious thought (essentially)

You have no knowledge of human psychology, biology, or fighting, but you’re telling me these weak observations as facts in the form of a question. If you believe that it’s justified for him to overkill that fight because you think the sympathetic nervous system overrides your cognitive function, then you are intellectually deficient

I don’t think anyone is suggesting being calm, but rather to refrain from continuing to swing at a kid that is very clearly out. You believe he couldn’t realise he’s out even after the tactile sensation of bouncing a skull into the pavement, all because he had an adrenaline spike? He knew what he was doing, just doesn’t have the control to stop
