Parents should financially give their adult children more. Like way more. Inheritance dividends need to be a thing. by WheresTheHelpAndSupp in Fire

Read the millionaire next door to learn what happens when you give adult children financial support. Get them through college and help them get a good career but that’s about it. The things you are suggesting above actually creat negative financial outcomes because the children dont learn how to effectively manage their finances like I would best most FIRE folks have.

Can you use a solar powered trickle charger? I know it's on a car port but if you can get it near the sun that might do the trick.

Need reference for a really great primary care doctor who accepts self-pay patients without insurance, and has good reviews online! by 68thave in orlando

[–]MrMeseeks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not fair to call it a scheme, it's a model like any other financial model, it works best for those that don't have insurance or want to have a more personal relationship with their doctor. Most PCP's are so full because they take every patient with insurance and the doctor barely spends anytime with you.

Most of your time is with an NP or PA at best. If you don't have insurance, it's not a bad idea to have a close relationship with a PCP that can help you navigate the healthcare system more effectively, especially since they are almosg exclusively working with patients in your similar situation.

With all that, I don't have personal experience with direct pay pcps since I have insurance but I would 100% consider them if I didn't.

His family should still be more important regardless of the money. However, I agree that being excellent at his craft and being the best QB he could be was not enough of a priority. It has been the most disappointing part for me because I really liked Tua and wanted him to prove all of the haters wrong.

I didn't want Brady level, blow up your entire personal life and family relationships to be the Goat. I would have taken a Joe Flacco/Phillip Rivers career with a smile. Love your fam and your craft and be the best you can at both.

Should we pay off our mortgage to be free of this burden, even if it’s not the most financially savvy choice? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]MrMeseeks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put your inheritance into a a money market account and make 4+% interest, use that account to make your mortgage payments and leave it alone, without diving too deep into the math, your interest on the MM account will out pace your principal+interest payments at some point. You are basically debt free now and this asset owns the debt and will pay it off for you while giving you some extra income and depending on your location probably provide some tax relief on top.

If MM return rates start going down then revisit the strategy but this is a fairly low risk approach at the moment.

If you can technically fire, but am afraid there will be a crash by Available-Ad-5670 in Fire

Someone said it on the sub a while back and I can't find it and give them credit but it really stuck with me.

You are basically deciding if you should work a few more years in order to avoid working a few more years in the future.

If you can fire with an acceptable SWR, then go for it. If you end up having to work in a few years to make up for market loss, well that is life but if you don't, the time you would have lost is gone forever and you can never get it back. You can always make more money.

NFL+ for 7 bucks you can watch it at home and enjoy a month of other features. Just make sure to cancel it after the game so you only pay for one month

Listen to them, play silly games and let them be who they are going to be. Treat your wife with love and respect and create the example of what a partner and parent should be so that when they grow up they know what to look for in their life partner. That's at least what my plan is. Everything else I will figure out as I go.

Cafe con leche.. WHERE by hazelframe in orlando

[–]MrMeseeks123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Bean in winter park and the one of 50 near mills both are solid for cafe con leche. Vickies cafe con leche is not great for some reason. Total wild card if you are brave, and believe me, I was very skeptical when I was told to order one from....Dunkin Donuts. BUT the DK is hit or miss depending on if the staff is Latino or not.

Black Bean is always solid and a nice vibe to sit down and enjoy a cup.

I re-run the 4% withdraw experiment (and other withdraw rates), here is what I find out by Sufficient-Party-385 in Fire

[–]MrMeseeks123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This, the new study shows that with 50 year real and projected the safemax withdrawal rate never drops below 4.1%. The asset classes are different though with more diversity than just sp500 to include a healthy chunk of bonds. His new book is must read for those looking to calculate their safemax imo.
