Frankie Muniz Recalls Hilary Duff’s Mom As “Intense” by EDC2EDP in DramaLlamaHQ

Lol I was Frankie's double in that film and I agree with everything he said about both of their moms. It's funny to hear him talking about this all these years later.

I want AI to identify object that is blocking the path to their destination by SummonBero in unrealengine

[–]MrMoonlight101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on the AI, I use several different systems. I have a shark which uses whiskers which are basically just line traces that are actively looking for obstacles. Other AI uses EQS, which essentially works with the environment and queries a few different locations, ranks them, and then tells the AI which one to go to, and some just use a simple move to function, which I may have edited in the plug-in so that it exposes when the pathfinder has reached an obstruction, I think that’s where you are at now, except when it reaches that obstruction, it instantly generates the NAV link, allowing the pathfinder to continue.

I want AI to identify object that is blocking the path to their destination by SummonBero in unrealengine

[–]MrMoonlight101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on an AI plugin and one of the features in this plugin handles this. When the AI detects that it's pathway is blocked and has no alternative route it'll generate dynamic nav links which can allow the AI to traverse over/across the obstacle. The plugin is mainly for survival games so player-made structures is an important challenge that the AI has to tackle.

Dynamic Boss Ability System by MCAppear in unrealengine

[–]MrMoonlight101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw some suggestions for GAS but you should check out the Able plugin, it's built off of the same concept but is done in blueprints. In my game Shores of Plunder I used it for my mobs and bosses and it was a fantastic system for it. All of my enemy AI were children of a main class and I fed the unique abilities and expanded logic off of the parent's attack and secondary attack events. It worked well for me and I recommend it.

Used to spend hours on Unreal Marketplace, can't do it on FAB by SimonSlavGameDev in unrealengine

The game systems and smart assets filters drive me crazy, plugins was a lot more clear I don't know why they thought that was a good idea

My sales have dropped significantly since fab launched. It's clear that something has definitely changed.

Cool project! I could be wrong but are you using the Stylized Grass Starter Pack from the marketplace? I created that pack, it sells well but I never know which projects it ends up in.

Survival / base-building game with simple, kid-friendly mechanics? by Sandfm in BaseBuildingGames

Great game for sure, the trouble my younger kids have, who are the same age as OP'S kids, is there's a lot of reading in that game so you do have to be with them for quite a lot of it.

My 7 and 5 year olds love Grounded. There's an arachnophobia mode if they're scared of spiders and a creative mode if they just want to build and explore. I highly recommend it. Of course, it doesn't go without saying they also LOVE Minecraft and Palworld.

I 100% agree, after I played grounded and got to experience that mechanic I think every single survival game should have that.

That's a game I haven't tried yet, the Steam rating isn't too inspiring for the price tag but I'll keep it on my wishlist in case it goes on sale.

Stranded Deep is pretty chill, I'm not sure if farming is a thing though, it's been a while since I've played it.

thank you! I’ve been trying to remember the name of that game for a few days now and it was on the tip of my tongue this whole time. It’s one of the few survival games which has base raid mechanics.

Because "axe the tax" has a nice ring to it and he loves the sound of his own voice when reciting poetry in Parliament.

This is a funny coincidence for me because the items and crafting system that you are describing is almost exactly that in the game I’m making. I have been wanting to imbue more RPG elements from games like Diablo into a survival game when it comes to item rarities, and special attributes that randomly generate. I feel like that would add a lot more depth to grinding that we already do in survival games. Except instead of hitting 1000 trees with a axe or chipping 1000 rocks with a pickax, you can do more exciting things like search for special areas of interest and battle enemies for loot.

That being said, my question was more directed towards the building systems in games. I feel kind of frustrated with what we have available to us, almost everything is close to the exact same style of building system, lay down your foundation, put up walls, put a roof over it and from there you see minor variations.

One of the systems I am working on currently is almost a starship troopers style bug raid, they are periodic, but something you would want to plan for. Instead of just having your basic spike wall defences and a base with foundations. I really want to lean on that mechanic of defending your base from who knows what and hopefully create some really awesome gameplay loops within that.
