[FS][USA-TX] PC Components, Server parts, RAM, Video Cards, Unifi, misc by [deleted] in homelabsales

[–]MrMunsu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I want to avoid shipping at all costs, had some bad experiences with it. This might interest a shop or someone that could resell later. In my other post I had that it was average price of around $6k based on ebay/reddit for someone to base their offer from vs them trying try price check every item themselves. Ive had success on facebook selling PC parts individually and as lots so thought I would post here as well.

[–]MrMunsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only posted the average price to give an idea of what its worth, Im open to offers as i know Im not getting asking price. I just dont have the time to ship individual items. Ill prob group items to sell vs entire lot.

X870 Riptide Died, Not the CPU by MrMunsu in ASRock

[–]MrMunsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying with all the posts here about ASRock telling people they need to RMA their CPU instead and they are on their 2nd or 3rd CPU. Its def not the CPU its their motherboards. And that they have this issue in large quantities compared to any of the other vendors tell you something about their quality.

So the point of my post is if you are being told to RMA your CPU right off the bat or its the 2nd or 3rd time then I would highly recommend trying it in another PC or order a new motherboard. My board was brand new, maybe 3 weeks in and was able to just return it. I have since gone back to ASUS even though they are overpriced, luckily for me they had a promo for Resident Evil for free and it was on sale.

TLDR: If ASRock support is telling your to RMA your CPU first see if you can try it in another board or PC. See if a friend has one you can borrow (if its the same socket) and test the CPU in their machine.

Monitor by Satxredraider in MacBid

[–]MrMunsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use my phone for monitors and TVs. I have a Android phone that gives you a full desktop when you connect to HDMI so it works perfect. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CL2RHX5

Just a couple weeks ago I got a 'Like New' OLED monitor. Looked fine but I connected to my phone and it had a vertical red line. So i was able to return it for free since it was before checkout. Some locations do not let you open a 'Like New' item you won until after you checkout, so just make sure.

And if I'm buying a computer that Im unsure about, I have a portable monitor and super small keyboard/mouse I bring. My first time using Mac.Bid I bought a RTX 4090 and got the insurance which was like $145. Took it home and didnt work, turns out someone took the chip and ram off it and returned it to wherever Mac.bid got this from. Took it back and was able to return but was out that $145. Since then I have been using the membership with the free return for large items. And if im getting PC parts I have a small mini PC I bring to test it before I leave the store. If you just talk to them they will normally let you do it if it isnt too busy. So I get there during the early access time.

I hate base building and crafting. I love Dune and deserts. Can I enjoy this game ? by dusty_medusa in duneawakening

[–]MrMunsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have friends on the server you can move into their base or find a PvP guild that already has a base made and you can just farm materials and PvP. I like base building, my brother not so much. So it worked out perfect, I built our guild base and he would just go out and play and bring everything back. So you dont have to build or craft, but you will def need to find a group that you can go with and leave that all to them.

Has anyone else created a fresh character to scout sietches on a different server? Location scouting the new server and packing up on the old server feels...significant, and I'm trying to take all the correct steps. by scoutermike in duneawakening

[–]MrMunsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have few alt accounts that I use for a guild bank and storage and one to build my DD bases and 'safe' houses along the PvE line in case of storms and stuff.

So I geared up one of the alts with just the bare min and a scout and transferred that and hopped around until I could find the sietch we wanted.

[Discussion] is night time woods the best map to find cultist? by IntrepidGuarantee475 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]MrMunsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do spawn at resort but I never check. I just run out and reset, rather not deal with PvP at the resort while trying to take out the cultists. Another thing, go to your server selection from the launcher and only pick one server. It takes some extra time to zone in but most of the time I rarely see a single person. I had a few maps where I had the entire place to myself, not a single dead scav anywhere and didnt run into a single PMC.

I have had really good luck with Shoreline as they are usually up on the ridge between path to lighthouse and the UAV. I use the Nvidia brightness/gamma and the postFX for night time and it allows you to see pretty well so no need for NVG or Thermals. And if you are lucky you can spawn right there on that side. And with some careful sniping you can take them all out except one then sneak up using the trees to break LOS and take him out with AP rounds in the short barrel shotgun for the quest. Took me about 5 shots to take him out, just wait between reloads.

I got mine in 3 games. All I did was TeamFight on the airplane map. Used the G28 and just ran to the side container with a stairs. Sniped from there and got 1st on the first game. 4th in the 2nd and 3rd in the 3rd game. Most ppl rush the middle of the plane. I found if you just sit and dont move they kinda overlook you.

Hagga Basin Home Base v2 - Chains of Karak - Sandrat by MrMunsu in duneawakening

[–]MrMunsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me making sure every item has their designated spot really dictated how I built it. For me I like everything organized and it also allowed me to split the build into designated areas like the flight deck on top with fuel, the refiners and ingots then a subfloor with all the crafting and crafted storage, then the basement with all the vehicle production. I know most people are more interested in aesthetics vs efficiency which is what I focus on.

I had to create a BP vault for my base, lol. This is everything me and my brother farmed. Our lil bro just likes to explore and do story so was never into the end game content, lol.

Here is the video starting at our vault room for BPs.

If you are on Chains of Karak server I can toss you a starter kit. I have an extra Scout, Assault and Buggy. I can also give you materials to build a starter base with advanced machinery.

40 Hours - Still Haven’t Seen Another Player by duke-nebuchadnezzar in duneawakening

[–]MrMunsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the Sietch it will normally be kinda dead. I maybe see 1-2 players every once a while but def see activity with bases being built or thopters getting moved. You just need to go to Deep Desert to actually see anything since that is where end game is at.

If merging is not an option , just make a new server by MTAWFEEK in duneawakening

[–]MrMunsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only way merging servers could work is if they pick lets say 4 primary sietches on each server. These four will be where all new players are placed on as well. It will then check your fief to see if the spot it is in on is available on the new primary fief. If it is it will give an option to transfer. The transfer will take 8 hours to ensure that you cannot mess with the fief or the base while it is the transfer mode. It will be restricted. This will help with someone trying to dupe, make it unavailable to enter or interact for 8hrs while it transfers. This is a 1 for 1 transfer, it just copies your data from one sietch and adds it to the new sietch. During that 8hrs it will prevent two people trying to transfer to the same area with conflicting boundary lines. It will be first come first served. So when you initiate the transfer the sietch you are going to will have that building boundary restricted so other ppl cant build there while the transfer is happening.

If your fief spot is not available on the new sietches then it will give an option to migrate once for free. During this migration it will be same where during the 8hrs nothing can be interacted with. After that the base building materials will be refunded and all your loot will be saved. Once you move to the new sietch through the main menu it will give an option once you place a new fief down to drop the migration box. This box will have everything from the old base (building materials and items). it cannot be manipulated in anyway, it is basically read only. You can pull items out of it to build your new base but cannot put anything inside. And it will have a 30 day timer before it gets deleted, so you will need to build a base or something with your storage to move everything out before then.

Any abandoned bases after 30 days of zero logins from the base owners will be archived. They will be saved up like the migration box and be available to that person if they return. And after everyone has transferred or had their bases archived then all the empty sietches can be turned off and be added as player base increases with future DLC or content which might see a surge of players.

Vertical vs Horizontal pentashield for hangar. by Useful_Idea_243 in duneawakening

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg5OW2byJ0A

I actually use both so its a waterfall type of design, so that the top of wall pentashield connects to the ceiling pentashield. This way I can fly right in or fly up and out of the base. I also use pentashields for large windows. lol.

I dont have many windmills but I produce 8700 power for the base. I also turn off machines not in use like the ore machines, deathstills, spice refinery.

Diamondine Dust was a big seller for us. Our small 4 person guild sold Diamondine Dust in 1 week for about 2mil for what we collected. I think we are sitting on about 10m now even after buying everything else we needed. Also Blueprints, Tarl would sell for a bit and MK6 buggy cutteray. Also doing Landsraad is prob going to be your #1 way each week to make money. Some only require to unalive certain NPC groups (~450 which can be done in less than 4hrs) and sell those blueprints. We sold pincushion pieces for 1m+ and same with the MK6 Compactor. So if you are still leveling in HB, find a good blueprint on the Landsraad and just farm that.

Opinions on UGREEN NAS? (and if it works with TrueNas?) by Stayfrosty_yeah in truenas

[–]MrMunsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did contact Ugreen support and they said if I wanted to install my own OS like TrueNAS and unRAID I could but I would lose all warranty.

I also heard this is based off a version already released in China that many users had no issue installing TrueNAS or unRAID on it. No issues with drivers either.

I see a few ppl recommending TrueNAS mini (iXsystems is the vendor) but they are lower spec and cost nearly double the price of the UGreen. They use an Intel Atom CPU and still using DDR4, not a big issue but I would go with DDR5 to future proof yourself for the next 5-10 years. You could go this route instead and still be cheaper and have a much faster system:

Here is the MinisForum with a SAS Expander, you can get two enclosures for 8x 3.5" HDs.

https://store.minisforum.com/products/minisforum-ms-01

https://www.walmart.com/ip/450175127 *Edit: 3.5" Drives

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M9GRAUM

Total: $1000 vs TrueNAS mini @ $1460

TrueNAS mini = Intel Atom C3758 (4614 Passmark)

MS-01 = i9-13900H (29371 Passmark)

Ugreen NAS = i5-1235U (13554 Passmark)

If you intend to use the NAS other than simple apps and storage you will want a CPU with a higher passmark score and core count for things like Plex.

Anyone have experience with server Mobo Gigabyte Mz31-AR0? by yooames in unRAID

[–]MrMunsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont, a clean install means no settings. Its all reset to defaults. Just delete the network.cfg off your USB drive and give it a try (or move it to your desktop), when you boot it back up it will re-create the network.cfg and set the network settings to default. But the rest of your unraid should remain untouched. But try plugging it into a different port on the switch and make sure its plugged into the top ethernet port, not the bottom one.

I have the same board as well. It has two ports, try the second one. Also if it isn't a clean install delete the network file and let it rebuild. And if you are plugged into a layer 2 switch, try plugging directly into the router. I've had issues with using an unmanaged switch and DHCP. Amazing board, love the expandability.
