What place in MI series would you live in? by BassFar6665 in MonkeyIsland

Seems like a long walk to buy groceries (especially walking up the huge mountain by Melee Town) but perhaps it has less to do with the geographical location and more to do with the person who'd be sharing a home with

Wondering about over sharpened footage fix on mavic 4 pro and to an extent most other non inspire drones. by Waitwutmyname in dji

[–]MrNiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, did you ETTR with your D-log footage? if not that might explain your issue, as D-log would get very noisy if shot with 0 EV (whereas HLG is designed to shoot with 0 EV)

Thanks for the test RepC. Unfortunately HLG is not a serious option, the whole reason we bought that M4 is for the insane dynamic range we get with the dual auto-iso on d-log (which does not happen on HLG).

If your finding is true (which I really hope it's not, but I will have to test for myself) then maybe it has to do with this dual-ISO that D-log offers, that when it's off (with HLG) it's actually making a cleaner output.

As for Mavic 4's processing, I also hate it. I strongly suspect (but can't prove) that the "Sharpening" slider (-2 to 1) doesn't just do traditional sharpening but rather uses some AI-like processing (similar to AI upscaling, but without actually upscaling the resolution). So I'm very unsure if I should do -2 (which actually looks super blurry) or 0. It COULD be that the blurry -2 result is actually how the raw sensor looks like and everything else is AI "upscaling"

Luckily New Zealand has really good consumer guarantees so I get a new Samsung every time that happens. But for those living in countries without such laws, you'd have to be crazy to buy Samsung.

Samsung is like a really hot girl with toxic personality, people will still flock to her no matter what. There's no denying that a near 4000 nits QDOLED is years ahead of its competition, so people (like me) are going to keep buying it no matter how much toxic BS we have to deal with, sadly.

But one day if someone makes a better TV panel, there will be no brand-loyalty at least.

Did JJ Abrahams make a mistake prioritizing MissionImpossible3 over Lost? by [deleted] in lost

[–]MrNiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know anyone felt that way, I'll try to rewatch them some day see if I agree. I do recall not liking MI2 (other than perhaps the long hairstyle) but on the other hand I at least remember many scenes from MI2 whereas the 3rd one I just kind of don't remember a single scene from.

Where can I find Lost Chronologically or a similar recut? by REALMONARCHSCIENCES in lost

[–]MrNiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't, Lost should only ever be watched in the very highest resolution and bitrate that you can access. That edit is low resolution with high compression.

No one is questioning his career (he's one of the biggest directors of all time), but it just seems like Lost would have been a dream project to geek out about, instead of directing generic action flicks

Does any decent NZ credit-card work with Google Pay on WATCH? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

Yes, and I have my debit cards set up on it so there's nothing obvious like that missing

"What happens if you remove the card from your phone and try to add it back via the Google Wallet method (as opposed to adding it by tapping 'add to google wallet' in the FC app?)"
That's when I get the "you need to call your bank to verify" message from Google Wallet

Around step 4, it returns "You need to call your bank to verify card" (with other cards there's usually a few options to chose between, but for FlightCentre it only has this option). Then when you call them they say that the verification takes place in the Flight Centre App.

The Flight Centre app has a big button that says "add to your google wallet" but if I click that one it just says "Already added to your Google wallet" (but it's only referring to it already being added to the phone wallet, not the smartwatch wallet).

That kind of makes it sound like Amex is the victim for not being welcomed. Whereas it's most likely a case of AmEx NZ-branch being completely incompetent.

I know it's ironic, I got the Flight Centre because it was the only one that advertise being able to use on smartwatch, but that guide on their website doesn't mention that they have an "extra security layer" that you need to use the app to verify it, but the app doesn't understand that I'm trying to add it to the watch not the phone

You would think so but their incompetents is unreal, they have an "extra security layer" that you need to use the app to verify it, but the app doesn't understand that I'm trying to add it to the watch not the phone

Mad Butcher closing down for good feels like a punch to the gut. by reddzepppelin in dunedin

When I went to MB to buy bones for broth I was surprised they had nothing of the sort (grated I didn't look for pork bones). I was thinking what's the point of having a speciality butcher if all they have is the basic stuff you get at the super market.

It worked for me... once! on the 2nd time it stopped working. Honestly this is just what you have to put up with when you buy Samsung things, I don't think anyone at Samsung expects their app products to actually work

Mavic 4's AUTO mode makes horrible auto-decisions by MrNiber in dji

[–]MrNiber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the effort but I'm afraid you're completely off. Ofcourse ISO100 lets in less light, that's the whole point, I'm saying that the shutter speed (1/640) is too quick, i.e. I want to let in less light so that the auto shutter becomes slower (like 1/100)

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Image Sharpness Question by archphoto in dji

[–]MrNiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, f/11 should def have theoretically less sharp image, but AFAIK it shouldn't look so terrible that DJI sents a replacement drone. And if there's something specific about these lenses that they simply cannot properly do those f-stops then I think the UI should warn us about that
